I find that somewhat hard to fathom. I agree that he can flurry with speed, but on the other hand I dont think he throws a single punch slowly. Calzaghe has very good handspeed overall.
OK they are slow in comparison to the rest of these guys, He has fast hands, but they weren't that much faster then Kessler's or Hopkins's hands, he just has great timing, and he is really relaxed when he throws punches so he can throw combinatios really quick.
People, stop saying he just slaps, he doesn't. He throws with poor technique, but he is still hitting hard enough to get Kessler, Lacy, and most of his opponents attention. ALso when he was young he had relatively quick hands, and he hit hard back in his day.
The thing is he has never had the top speed in the sport, guys like Mayweather, Mosley, Taylor, etc are a level above him, and guys like Gamboa, Berto, RJJ are two levels above him. I have him on the same level as Whitaker and Oscar De La HOya, which is quite fast, but not the fastest.
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
I voted for Manny because his speed also brings devastation.
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
Common people, you don't need a ph.d in physics to realize Manny doesn't punch as fast as Berto. He has quick hands, but Judah, Berto, and Gamboa all have faster hands then him
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
Speed is nothing without power
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
yeah because Berto has no power...
also
Take a look at Mayweather, he has decent power, but not at the higher weights, and he did fine. Michael Nunn had an excellent career with no power.
And this thread is saying what is the best power-speed combination, it is asking for hte fastest hands.

Speed is power,In its own right.Chances are if you have top notch hand speed, your agility could also be apparent in footwork and repositioning.
Unless your Khan, then you just walk into shots much faster than others :fight:
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
Pac started at 106, and he still manage to carry his speed at 135. And it is not a regular (slapping) speed too.

Speed + Strength = Power
Zab is very fast at throwing single shots, watch the Tszyu fight and that left uppercut he landed, it was almost instant!

Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
I find it absolutely ridiculous people think Pac is faster than Berto
