The next BIG one is coming soon. After Bute-LA, this one has a hard act to follow, but the scene is set for a great one in terms of contrasting styles if what Vic has can be called a "style."

Yep, I'm an Aussie - but I don't care, I hope Mijares sparks Vic and shuts him up.

He has none of the class or humility I like in my boxers, he gives Donaire no credit at all for kicking his arse, and continues to talk like he is the greatest fighter since Sugar Ray Robinson.

I'll be breaking out my sombrero on Sunday morning.

I'm hoping Darchinyan can KO Mijares. Vic might not have any class but he always comes to fight & always looks for that KO.

Thats his best shot and he is very dangerous But for each awkward bomb he misses I think Mijares can hit him twice. I hope he takes Vic over 12 and then go's heads up with Fernando Montiel......I will pay top dollar to see that one ;D

I've seen only the last fights of Darchinian and Mijares but it looks to me like Mijares wins this fight. I'm looking forward to it though. Who was it on here that said Darchinian's style looks like a vulture approaching a meal? :)

I can see this going 2 ways.

1. The most likely in my mind. Vic will trudge forward throwing bombs, landing rarely and Mijares will box his ears off.

2. Vic lands a Bomb and Ko's Mijares, or atleast stuns him bad enough to win the rounds he needs for a points win.

I'm hoping Mijares is as good as i think he is. He should beat Vic unless he gets caught.

CM will win on points... I say this with my heart not my mind...

Vics one of the few boxers i have met. He was nice enough, i suppose I have to go for him.
Hate his style though.

My vote is in. I kinda like Vic even with his big mouth. Hell I like punchers period, but Mijares to me just seems to be a full class above him.

Mijares has really come into his own and is looking like a special fighter to me.

Mijares is one of the most technically sound and smartest fighters I've seen. He clearly has a game plan going into a fight, and does not get sidetracked easily. Beyond that, he is loaded with skill.

Lop-sided victory here is my prediction.

Vic by KO. That little prick is just plain odd and strong.

Darchinyan has improved from the donaire fight. I hope he can win. I was impressed with his last victory, he had head movement, speed and awesome power.Sorry guys, dont see this being that easy for mijares even if he does win, it wont be easy ;)

I hope so,just so its not a complete shutdown.It would be good to see a decent fight come out of it.
I think someone has to expose Vic though, may as well be Mijares.

Like your Roy Jones av; choice vid ;).I love Roys thought processes,its like watching Beckham lob a ball over a goal keepers head from the half way mark! Noone else would even dare think it let alone pull it off.
Roy was as cool as to know he had him at the point where he could pull that off.
You'd recon any pro fighter wouldn't ever fire shots straight at a target that moved through opposite on a different plane than the straight shot though! Step in cover and cross or Swing and follow the targets line of path and if you miss following its line of path ,then you'll get it on the way back!

If Darchinyan wins it probably won't matter when it comes to people hating him.

This is gonna be rough, at this weight class Darchinyan can bang with the best of them, I think Vic is gonna have a little success early on first couple of rounds, until Mijares gains a mastery over Vic's style. If Vic doesn't catch Mijares in that time I think it will be a complete blowout.

If you are sick of it, ignore it or try actually watching him.

No i seen him and all and looked at what he has done but i just dont see why people rate him above Cotto, Hatton, Pavlik and even Williams. I just hoping Darchinyan knocks him the fuck out is what i am hoping for i mean i dont see the big deal with not liking the guy hope he gets beat.

I'm going with Mijares by decision.

I was telling Mar, that everytime I see Vic fight, the song "Boris The Spider" by The Who goes through my head. Honestly, when the fight is going on, think of that song, you'll see, it fits. ;D

Mijares wins coin flips!
Two coin flips took place during today's final press conference for the unification clash between WBA/WBC super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares and IBF junior bantamweight champion Vic "Raging Bull" Darchinyan. Mijares won both flips. The first coin flip concerned which champion comes out first. Mijares decided to let Darchinyan come out first and be announced last. The second flip concerned corners. Mijares chose the red corner. Mijares and Darchinyan meet Saturday live at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast) on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING.

"Mijares has the greater skill in the conventional sense, but he is a fighter who can get hit. He was heavily knocked down in his first bout with Katsushige Kawashima in Japan and he got nailed by quite a lot of left hands from Jose Navarro in their all-southpaw thriller (the fight where one judge incredibly had Mijares losing every round in surely the most aberrant assessment of a boxing match in ring history).

Each fight is different, but if Darchinyan can hit Mijares as often as Navarro did, he must have a great chance, because the Sydney-based fighter can certainly crack.


I believe that Darchinyan is going to have to walk through punishment to a certain extent as he stalks Mijares, but I also think that he is well capable of hurting the Mexican fighter if (or should it be when?) he lands his own punches.

Despite the great respect I have for Mijares, I am going to go against the tide here and pick Darchinyan to pull off the upset. I think he will be able to land enough of his thumping left hands to slow down Mijares and then come on with a late charge to snatch a decision victory."

Houston we have a problem, you know what happens when you go against the tide, you get suckered swept into the ocean left for dead. Vic has a punchers chance for the first 3-4 rounds, if he doesnt find the big blow Mijares will post up his boxing clinic for the rest of the fight.

I predicted this fight a walk-in-the-cake UD by Mijares 2 weeks ago.

Mijares still wins it though, but with bloody swollen face.

Mate to be honest, i just dont think he thought vic would punch that hard or be that awkward. He just didnt really know how to fight him. Usually with a puncher, a boxer knows what to do. But Vic isnt a conventional puncher, hes very awkward and you cant tell what hes doing. To me it looked like he got caught in limbo land of trying to box and impose his will. Every time he tried to box he would get caught and then hed try to push vic around and vic would crack him with the uppercut. Mijares would of probably beaten the old vic, vic has improved. Not unbeatable, definitely not but hes now less likely to walk into a big left hook ;)

I agree Mijares came out with the wrong mentality and he paid the price for that. He left his comfort zone and was never in the fight.
