;) ;)
I don't know i didn't start the thread.
There's no point you winking like you know something we don't. Everybody knows Cotto would be too much for Hatton at 147. He's naturally bigger and stronger....and technically a better fighter.
If they had have met in the past it would likely be at 140 where Cotto wasn't as strong. Cotto would have had a lot of problems imo.
I just find it strange that anybody can say Cotto did a better job on Paulie considering he gave away 4 or 5 rounds to a guy who broke his hand. It's the sport of Boxing. Rounds win you fights. If we we're judging street fights then i'd be inclined to say Cotto did a terrific job, but he got hit far too frequently (and stunned) for me to say he did a better job than a guy who hardly got hit and totally dominated every aspect of the fight.
Not knocking Cotto....i love watching him. Just don't think he was as effective at 140 as Hatton has been. 147 = different story.
Fair enough, ono. I still don't get the point of the thread, but I can agree on a lot of your points. I will say that IMO Cotto was pretty damn effective at 140. But as time went on he found it harder and harder to make the weight. He moved up to 147 at the right time.
:)
Yeah he was. He had some great wins.....just don't think his chin was that strong at 140......well the longer he stayed at the weight anyway.
He had a great war with Torres. That was awesome to watch.
Hatton - Cotto should have happened about 3 years ago. It would have been great.
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Cotto clearly "damaged" PM more, broke him up in all sorts of ways, but the fight was comepetitive with Paullie winning 4 maybe 5 rounds...The Hatton fight was probably a more one-sided fight with Paullie winning round one, maybe...I would also state that the fighter Cotto faced was far more "lively" with better legs, better jab and more coourage than the fighter that Hatton faced...was it styles? maybe..or was it that Paullie was "changed" after the Cotto fight...no one will know for sure, either way I think Paullie is done...I will say that the reason the Cotto fight was allowed to continue was that it was a reasonably competitive fight from a scoring perspective while the Hatton fight was basically a shut-out with no chance for PM to come back.
Since the Cotto fight was a decision and Paullie did win some rounds I'd have to say that Hatton "beat" him better but MC gave the better "Beat Down" of the two...
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Cotto gave Paulie a better beating early on, but after the first few rounds, Cotto was hardpressed to get anything done. Hatton maintained his edge along the whole fight and was able to remain consistent while Cotto tapered off.

His best "wins" came AFTER Cotto. ;)
Good to see his gift wins over N'Dou and Ngoudjo impressed you. Paulie before Cotto beats them easily. Fact

Thats how I see it & thats why I voted Hatton ... because score card wise its Ricky hands down ... but as for making a mess of Paulie, then Cotto takes it....

Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Paulie was in with a shout of winning against Cotto he was never in the fight with Hatton. My vote goes to Hatton

So had ricky of busted paulie up in the 1st but then gone on to lose the next 11rounds and with it the fight by that logic you would still vote hatton.
Paulie was clearly unfazed by the broken jaw and dominated the proceeded rounds after it occoured
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
They both beat him up good and proper, thats good enough for me, I dont care who did it the better.
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Hatton: the stoppage, the amount of rounds won, and the fact that Paulie's clinching (read: hanging on for dear life) is what kept him on his feet.

The first 5 rounds went to Cotto but Cotto broke his hand mid 5th round. If Paulie could not get a round or two in against a one armed man then we have a problem. Paulie did a lot of holding against Cotto too. It was hit and then hug, wash, rinse and repeat. Cotto busted up Paulie worse but Hatton did better only because Hatton had all of his weapons. Paulie admits he is not the same fighter he was against Cotto that he was against Hatton. Paulie has fear and that fear came from Cotto and he was afraid it would happen again against Hatton and btw Cotto was also weight drained in his last fight at Jr Welter Weight just in case you forgot. I think Cotto could still move down to Jr Welter weight and put a beating on Hatton ;D Considering it only took Floyd one punch to knock out Hatton, I think Cotto could knock Ricky out too :lickish:

Eh?
How many natural Welters has Cotto fought and how many did he beat?
How can Cotto be techincally better when Ricky totally outclassed Paulie and gave away one round whereas against Cotto people thought Paulie was tough because he was hurting Cotto and winning rounds;D
Maybe Cotto is over rated;D
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Paulie broke his zygomatic arch (cheek) not his jaw
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Can we officially file this thread under the "Who Gives a Flying F*ck Category"?
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Damn straight ;D
Both beat him up good an proper, lets be thankfull for that and move on.
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Defenetly Cotto he is an animal, although I would like to see a Cotto /Hatton Fight
Re: Who beat Malignaggi better?
Hatton took him to school...;D
