Cotto's style is made for Pac. Cotto has a short arms just like Hatton & Diaz. Cotto might have a Jab to keep Pac off but Pac has the longer jab. To get inside Pac you have to be slippery or Slick. That's not Cotto's style. Cotto's style is made for Pac. Remember MAB, a Known body Puncher?? If they throw a body punch, I'm sure they're open to Pac's straight left. Unless Cotto has longer arms & quicker one then he has a Chance. But he's not. Pac TKO rd 10.

They need to be extra careful and protect their jaw if they gonna try to land that left hook to the body to PAC coz they're really very open to PAC's left straight punch... Remember PAC is a southpaw... ;)

Cotto started to mention Pacquiao as a possible future opponent... ;) Now this fight is slowly shaping up... ;)

Pac has to get through Hatton first, so don't count your chickens before they are hatched.

Fully aware about that... and IF PAC beats Hatton ;) , PAC-Cotto could be a possibility since people starting to talk about it this early... Even Cotto himself started to mention Pacquiao as possible future opponent... ;)

Re: A boxing expert hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight in 2009
Cotto would badly knockout Manny, KO around 4/5 rounds.

He also mentioned other names too. It's a possibility, but just that. I just cannot see Pac hanging at 147 TBH. He's just not big enough and there are guys there bigger than him and much more ripe than Oscar.
And of course, I'm still hoping Hatton knocks his block off! ;);D

I'm a fan of Pac's and will be rooting for him against Hatton. But... if he ever gets in the ring with Cotto, there's gonna be a lot sad Pac fan faces the morning after.

BTW, you mentioned this in one of your Cotto threads:
"Oh, by the way... some of Cotto's weaknesses we Cotto fans never mention:
1. He seems to have a stamina problem.
2. He has some problems solving power-punching southpaws.
3. He sometimes forgets his defense and gets tagged."
Did you realized that Cotto's perceived weaknesses are PAC's strengths?? ;) (Although no. 3 is also a PAC weakness)

Re: A boxing expert hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight in 2009
Will Miguel Cotto vs. Manny Pacquiao happen?
Is it long before we see Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao in the same ring?
If last night at Madison Square Garden was any indication, it's a good bet we will see that fight. As Marcus Henry reported in Newsday today, immediately after he dispatched a game, but limited, Michael Jennings, Cotto said, to .. "the winner of Pacquiao-Hatton, I'm here!"
That sentiment was toned down a bit later at the official post-fight press conference. Cotto issued the standard, "it's up to Top Rank," when asked if he would fight Pac Man. Of course, Pacquiao first has to defeat Ricky Hatton on May 2 and Cotto will likely fill his normal June date at Madison Square Garden. Top Rank and Cotto generally fight at the Garden the same weekend as the Puerto Rican Day parade. The speculation is that Cotto will face Kermit Cintron on that card.
So that leaves both Pacquiao and Cotto with a November date to fill. Most people in the press section last night were betting they would fill that date together. Top Rank just happens to promote both fighters. So when Cotto says, "it's up to Top Rank," it sounds like a good bet.

Cotto is too big and too skilled for PAC. and he is yet to reach his prime IMO.

Power punching southpaws at 147 Manny is not some power punching machine im sorry to say, Cotto is way to big for Manny he would be done for murder if they ever fought, people are saying Pac is in for a rough fight with Hatton imagine what Cotto would do.

Re: A boxing expert hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight in 2009
I can't see how Cotto would beat Pacquiao to be honest, he's just too slow, and I think Pacquiao has the power to bust him up.

I like how JMM is pushed to the bottom of it. ;)
Clearly if it's about boxing supremacy the ONLY boxer I'd excuse ahead of JMM would be PBF.
After PBF it would be JMM.

The list is about each boxer's chances of landing a fight with PAC... After Hatton, I think PBF has the biggest chance if he will come out of retirement... You notice Cotto has more chance of landing a fight with PAC than JMM...

according to what? In fact cotto would still be undefeated had he not tried to do somethin he hadnt done his whole career which was hit and bounce away..he got tired in the margo fight thats the only reason he lost.
Pac is not 5'11, he doesn't throw 100s of punches...Cotto would murder him....Pac's win at 147 was a water down version of RJJ winning at HW...If roy would have tried to fight lennox or klitchko...do i really need to talk about that.....floyd,cotto,clottey,judah,berto,baldomir, shane, margo, williams, They would all beat pac at 147...hell ricky hatton fought at 140 his whole career and could really handle a true 147lber...pac win over oscar was smoke and mirrors...
-
Re: A boxing expert hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight in 2009
the only two fights that would make sense is Hatton ofcourse so PAC can get his 5th weight division championship and a rubbermatch with JMM to finally clear all the doubt if there is still any.
Well IF PAC stops both Hatton and Marquez, I guess that should warrant an eligibility to fight Cotto for a 6th weight div championship.

According to Cotto's fans, these are Cotto's (perceived?) weaknesses:
1. He seems to have a stamina problem.
2. He has some problems solving power-punching southpaws.
3. He sometimes forgets his defense and gets tagged.
Isn't it Cotto's perceived weaknesses are PAC's strengths?? ;) (Although no. 3 is also a PAC weakness)

I dont know why your talking about Cotto. You Pac fans are gonna get a rude awakening if you're overlooking Ricky Hatton.

Re: A boxing expert hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight in 2009
Arum: After Hatton, Pacquiao may fight Cotto
Top Rank promotions is now eyeing the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight belt should Manny Pacquiao prevail over Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton in their mega-fight scheduled May 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. ABS-CBN Europe exclusively interviewed Top Rank boss Bob Arum on the last day of the UK press tour of Pacquiao and Hatton in London.
After Hatton, Arum wants the ‘Pacman’ to square off with Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico, the reigning WBO welterweight champion.
With 34 fights, Cotto has only one defeat and a record of 27 knockouts.
Arum believes a Pacman-Cotto fight is much bigger than fighting the retired Floyd Mayweather Jr., who dealt Hatton his only loss.
Arum is happy at how Pacquiao was warmly received by Filipino fans in England.
In fact, he thinks Pacquiao was given more media mileage in the UK compared to the Manchester-born Hatton.
Arum admits Hatton is a tough fighter, unlike Oscar dela Hoya that trainer Freddie Roach was able to penetrate through his weakness inside the ring.
Team Pacquiao left London yesterday for the United States to start training.
But before leaving England, Pacquiao thanked Filipino fans for their support.
Both Pacquiao and Hatton will hold a separate press tour in the United States.
Wow this year is fast becoming a golden year for boxing... With fights like;
JMM vs. PBF Jr. @ 147 :lolhaha:
PAC vs. Cotto @ 147
These are mouth watering match-ups... ;)

Re: A boxing expert hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight in 2009
Cotto is way too strong and talented for Pac Man. Manny will not be physically imposing to Cotto. Cotto would seriously hurt Pac Man. I pick Cotto over Hatton too. Cotto will give Hatton a beating like he has never experienced before. The Cotto-Pac Man fight will happen if Manny beats Hatton since both are promoted by Top Rank.

Re: A boxing expert hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight in 2009
Cotto is the man to beat in WW imo. Not Mosley or Margacheato. If Williams decided to come down at 147, then it will be diff story.

based off what? he lost the unification bout to margarito..which made tony the man at ww..then he lost to shane which makes shane number 1...explain your logic?

Re: A boxing expert hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight in 2009
There's a big possibility that the planned PAC-Cotto fight might be derailed by Clottey... :( In fact, I pick Clottey to defeat Cotto...
