I couldn't agree more Donny.
Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part but I can't help but think the ODLH win exagerates his capabilities at the higher weights somewhat. Sure he looked awesome against Oscar but that's as much down to ODLH himself as it is Pac.
How can everybody be so sure that Pac takes his power with him to 140 and above? IMO the ODLH fight can't be evidence of that.

It seems to me a lot of people (including the bookies) have Manny the clear favourite to win this. Personally I feel Hatton has the edge, mostly down to his strength advantage.
Do you think Manny has ever faced an opponent as physically strong as Hatton? JMM pushed Manny as hard as anyone but JMM isn't as strong as Hatton
Simple answer no he hasn't he also hasn't met anyone, with Ricky Hatton's body punching abilities. And Considering Manny Pacquiao was KO'ed with a body shot, i know he was weight drained a young Manny Pacquiao fans.
But i would still be interested how Manny Pacquiao takes Ricky Hatton's body punches. I remember in the 2nd JMM fight, Manny Pacquiao was badly hurt from a body shot, and JMM isn't really known as a body puncher and it was only 1 round of body punching assault.
So i would make this fight pretty even and Ricky Hatton has quick feet, so he can close the distance very well. The only problem is that Manny Pacquiao is a much improved boxer.
And his countering abilities have improved greatly so he has the skills, to pick Ricky Hatton apart from the outside. And Ricky Hatton's defence has been very leaky lately especially to left hands. And remember Ricky Hatton has struggled with Southpaws since he was an Amateur.
But it should be a very interesting bout it all depends which fighter, can make it there type of fight.
JMM hurt pac in the 8th, while pac was trying to wipe the blood from his eye jmm caught him in the body and pac didn't see it coming. It took pacs wind away but pac recovered as soon as the blood stopped coming down on his eyes. That would happen to anybody in that situation but not all would of kept standing let alone survive.
Pacs actually lets oppenent hit him in the body sometimes, his body and chin is as solid as anyone. Can you image anybody else getting hit with all the blows eric, marco, jmm have all landed on pac? hell no, guys like hatton would of been ktfo. Hatton bigger but not stronger. he'll hug and try to be physical but dont mean he stronger, he just bigger. Compare to the three greats, hatton looks soft.
Yeh Hatton might be the strongest.
I do remember JMM hittin him with some not alot of body bunches and they seem to have made him stop cold on his feet on go on defensive for a bit.
But will Hatton Fight his usual fight? Like he did against Mayweather or Fight like he foguht Maliggnagi?
As for Hatton Lookin soft compared to the 3 greats I agree!

Had Oscar not overtrained his weight he would have been the biggest. My guess is he was afraid of that 3 million per pound clause over the limit.
Only way Hatton wins this fight is he can get in close otherwise Hatton gets outboxed and out punched. Expect Hatton to come into the fight around 150lbs and Pacquiao two or three pounds less than that. Although there is a good chance Hatton makes the same mistake as DLH and overtrains. I read he is planning 13 weeks training.
WTF ??
Is the Collazo fight the only fight you've seen ? Hatton doesn't come in at that weight whatsoever.
He comes in at 140 fight night. You obviousley don't know much about the sport.
Slow down you're embarrasing yourself homie.;D
He doesn't come in heavier fight night. Otherwise he would be sluggish like he was against Collazo. You gotta trust me on this.
And I am certainly not embarrasing myself. This coming from the same guy who a few days ago said Tony Margarito was pretty :LOLATYOU:

Are you sure Lefty? Hatton
has to weigh in more on fight night than he does at the weigh in?
The whole idea is to be water drained in order to get as light as possible. Once re-hydrated I'd guess Hatton weighs in around the 147lb mark on fight night.
A couple of pounds maybe. But 150 is ridiculous. Hatton wouldn't be "Hatton" at 150 pounds.

why is this even being discussed.
if hatton fights manny it`ll be at 140
no more, no less!!

I don't mean to correct anyone, but it is an established fact that Ricky does come into the fight at least 7 to 10 pounds heavier than his weigh in weight.

Nope. I aint criticizing your punk ass for not liking a moustache or for calling him ugly. I just said he don't look ugly to me and in fact he look badass like a gangsta to me. He'll bulk up a couple. But I doubt Hatton comes in around 150. Cuz 140 suits him fine. If he does come in at 150 then I didn't have a clue. Most boxers bulk up obviousley. But I still think Hatton doesn't go up 10 pounds. If I'm wrong then so be it. I guess you learn something new every day LOL.

Wow!, "What a total _____" You can fill in the blank. But my bad for writing DLH was at 142 he was at 147 and that weight on fight night with his clothes on. Pacquiao was 142 and re hydrated to 148 or so.
I vaguely remember reading Hatton saying 6 lbs re hydrated is his optimum.
When fighters make weight, let us say for the fight say 140lbs, they "plan" to rehydrate at a higher weight to gain an advantage during the fight. The more he has to dehydrate to make the weight the less stamina he has for the fight. 4 to 6 lbs is a good target for light welterweight. Generally the more weight a fighter has the more power his punches have thus the reasoning for advantage during the fight. Some fighters/trainers don't like this plan and don't do it, but many do. There are also factors as to weather a fighter is coming up in weight or going down. Because it is not illegal, a fighter can be dehydrated to make weight by using an IV.
Since Pacquiao is normally around 145-150 in shape I don't expect he will try to bulk up any more and will use the same training regiment as he had for DLH. 8 weeks. Hatton on the other hand most likely will opt toward his power and I look for him to go into the fight with as much weight advantage as he can get. Thus why I say about 150. Although I read he plans on training for 13 weeks for this fight.
I think if Mayweather Sr. wants Hatton to train lighter (same as DLH) to gain more speed and turn Hatton from his abilities that got him to the top, I think it is a mistake because Hatton is no Mayweather Jr. and he will loose his power advantage. Lets see what his actual plan is during the training camp watch.
-
Re: Is Hatton Pac's most powerful opponent yet?
Pacman will KO Hatton! Hatton doesnt hit you with crisp shots that land flush. When he wins its simply because he's in better shape and he wrestles peoples energy away. That crap won't work against Pacquiao's superior movement. Pac is way to quick and slippery for Hatton to try to come inside and bully. Pacquiao's left hand is gonna make Hatton look like a mess. Im just not that impressed with Hatton. He cant put together combinations, he has no jab, and he's predictable. Trust me Freddie Roach will have a master plan to annialate Ricky Hatton. Maybe this will finally shut Floyd Mayweather Sr. up about how he thinks he's the best trainer out there. Roach 5 to 1 better than Mayweather, Pacquiao 5 to 1 better than Hatton!

I heartily disagree with pretty much everything you say. Hatton is clearly Pac's most powerful opponent yet, and one of the quickest on his feet too. Manny will have more than a fit or two.

Pacquiao has faced many faster fighters than Hatton in lower weight classes, just none that are as powerful. Hatton has to mug Pacquiao Ruberto Duran style if wants a "W".
I think in the power department, they are pretty muched matched, unless Hatton comes in much heavier, which is what he should do. If Hatton comes in lighter, around (140) like some of you think he will, there is no way he's going to out box Pacquiao. Mayweather Sr. is just dreaming if he thinks Hatton can dance his way to a win over Pacquiao. If that happens Just mark another "L" on Hatton's resume.

Mayweather never..... faces Pacquiao. Especial after Pacquiao beats Hatton.

Hatton is not quick on his feet. He simply comes in ties you up and try to bully you. Hardly any movement at all. He usually makes for very boring fights, but with Pacquiao's movement he's gonna be teeing off on Hattons face. This fight will be stopped, I'll garuntee it!

As far as physicality,I believe he is the strongest Manny has faced.I don't think he stands a chance of straight outboxing Pacquioa.Diaz was pretty strong, rugged and I think Pacquioa will have to box him smart with that straight power and movement....don't get drawn into a clutch, hook affair.Hatton is leaps and bounds ahead of a Diaz and can be very effective on the inside,But I can not get the vision of Lazcano catching him with those lefts out of my head.Definatly no gimme for Pacquioa,Hatton fights with as much intensity as anyone today.

Pacquiao will have to watch out for the clinching and infighting Hatton loves to do. Ricky is going to try and bully Pacquiao and as always I think Manny is going to use his speed and agility to land power punches. Manny has too much speed, too much stamina for Ricky to handle....Ricky's best shot is to make it a rough fight and wear Manny down which he has the ability to do....I just don't know how Ricky is going to take to the southpaw stance vs a guy with fast hands and good power.
fair points mate, but there was definatley an improvement from hatton in the malignaggi fight that id attribute to mayweather snr. He still got hit a bit too much but alot less than he usually gets hit. As for the clinching, it was malignaggi doing all the clinching all night long in his last fight. i think the southpaw stance will cause problems for hatton just because hatton has always struggled with them.

hatton will weigh in 140, and bulk up to around 152, thats what he did in the malignaggi fight

Hatton was holding all night. Malinaggi wasn't doing all the clinching.

I think Paulie spoiled and held way more. Hatton had an easy day outboxing him and (obviously) landing the bigger shots.

Are you kidding me ? Paul Malignaggi was ducking and grabbing all night long, he for certain done a majority of the spoiling/holding. Paul Malignaggi actually fought like a coward after he was rocked in the 2nd round.
Ricky Hatton to me looked fired up and was ready to go to war, and he looked like he just wanted to fight and not clinch at all. Pity Paul Malignaggi held like a wrestler and ducked almost below the waist line every 20 seconds.

Re: Is Hatton Pac's most powerful opponent yet?
Size wise... NO. Oscar dela Hoya was.
After the facts came about… and the feeble showing of Oscar.... YES!
This is by no means a clear advantage in his favor though, I still see Pacquiao out speed, out skill, and outmaneuver Hattfon for a win past round 9.
