Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
If he's in training for his next fight he's not likely to break camp for a quick news presser. ;D He knows. Like I said. He is fighting on the 31st. If he doesn't get beat up the Khan fight is on. :p
I still think it would have be wiser for all concerned the announce the fight after that date just to be 100% because if it doesn't happen there will lots of very angry boxing fans hating on Warren even more than usual.;)
Can't see what difference a couple of weeks would have made except all the press Khan has been getting...

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
Read this on the Beeb comments board -wanted to share.;D;D
"This is a funny fight: Barrera is now a slow, old, average sized featherweight, Khan is BIG lightweight but with such a bad chin, that even MAB could wobble him and possibly force a stoppage if 'Trash-Khan' does his impression of a 10-year old kid who's had too much fizzy-pop and starts jumping in-and-out of Barerra's face. Barrera is approaching 'shotness' but Khan is a borderline bum."

Barrera wins, suffers cut!
Solis TKOs Meza-Clay in eliminator
By Lee Bates
Ring legend Marco Antonio Barrera (65-6, 43 KOs) won by third round disqualification over emergency replacement Freudis Rojas (1-8-1) on Saturday night at the Auditorio Telmex de la UG in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. Rojas was DQ’d for a headbutt which left Barrera with a bad gash over his left eye. The cut could jeopardize Barrera’s scheduled March 14 clash against Amir Khan in Manchester, England. Barrera was originally slated to face John Nolasco on Saturday night, but Nolasco didn’t show up at the weigh-in, so Marco Antonio was pressed into facing Rojas, whom he knew absolutely nothing about.
———-
In the co-feature, featherweight Jorge Solis (37-1-2, 27 KOs) scored a fifth round stoppage of Monty Meza Clay (28-2, 19 KOs) in an IBF eliminator.

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
Watch Warren bring in some bum to fight Khan now.
Just like when Pinto pulled out vs Hatton so he brought in Pederson instead of Witter . Khan will get an easy payday.
I knew Warren should have waited until Barreras next fight was over til he announced the Khan fight .

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
I have - paid 75 (83 with fucking credit charge fee !) for first block behind ringside floor level
Like someone said all seats at MEN arena have a good view , even the cheap seats.
Am only going so I can say I saw Barrera fight in his career - that is the only selling point as far as I am concerned.
Will be supporting my mate Marco ;)

The last i heard was they have sold 15,000 and that was last week.
I Wonder who Khan will fight if Barrera is out?

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
Another spanner in the works could be Barrera's fight last night....according to fightnews he got cut pretty bad with a headbutt from Rojas, who was DQ'd, and the writer thought it might put his appearance in this fight in trouble.
Hope Barrera can make it, though it'll be another chink in his armour that Khan can attack, especially if the cut only just heals in time.
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
i know Rojas was a late replacement but he shouldnt of been in the ring with Barrera anyway.

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
The fight will happen eventually. They'll just wait til Barrera is OK to fight. Barrera's career recently has been very strange. He left GBP which guaranteed him two plus million a year without fighting as he had a piece of the company to form his own promotional outfit. So after walking away from an equity stake in the biggest and growing boxing promotion comapny in the world he then starts his own setup in Mexico. Does anybody know what's happening with that?
Then he signs with Don King for some reason. I mean explain that one. Then he's fighting 1-7 tomato cans a couple of months before the Khan fight. If somebody can explain the reasons behind any of these strange career choices I'd like to hear them.

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
when i heard the opponent was MAB i bought the fight tickets when I was away.
Till today I had no idea that MAB was fighting beforehand - no way would I have bought tickets first if I had known (been a boxing fan too long to know shit can happen !)
All this is news to me and I am as puzzled as the next guy - WTF is going on here ?!?!
Hope the fight does happen - but only if he's in good shape :-\

I wish...

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
Great fight...I am interested but from what I have seem so far...I see a Barrera knockout coming.......
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
Warren said the fight will go a head, with MAB. I bet Warren was crapping himself.:)
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
Ive bought my tickets cuz they were gonna sell out if Id waited to hear confirmation from Barrera
I still havent heard him mention khans name. In the interview after the Rojas fight he said he wanted Pac aagain and that he wants to fight Marquez again cuz it is personal. He never mentioned Campbell who he is lined up to meet and he never mentioned khan . I hope he is taking this fight seriously . It seems like he is just expecting to turn up and ko some bum whos been knocked out b4 . Dangerous frame of mind.

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
Hi all
Havent been on here for some time now but just wanted to say that me and my brothers have also bought tickets for this event. Seems that it will still go ahead, but may be pushed back a few weeks. I would much rather wait than see Khan fight some other bum
Also I hear Enzo fight is in doubt due to opponent 'not being ready'. All points towards this event being pushed back

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
I hear Barrera has pulled out and Warren is thinking about bringing in Stevie Johnson as a replacement .
I hope this is nothing more than a rumour

I hope not. And Barrera is mad to be still talking about Pac, but I would love to see a Marquez rematch.

I cannot believe that anybody is paying that money to watch Amir Khan. The only motivation is surely to watch Barrera beat the shit out of Amir Khan.
Surely. :-\:-X

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
The fight is still on Barrera will be fit :).
Khan should target the cut it wont have time to heal properly.MAB is taking a gamble i think in this one.
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
False alarm. It turned out to be some scum just winding us up
Hope the cut doesnt effect Barreras training for the fight.

Yeah for sure, Barrera has EVERYTHING againsed him in this fight. If Amir wins I will be gutted, he will say some shit like "Naz could not beat him, I think this shows just how good I am" Frank comes in and says "He just beat a guy that destroyed Naz, he is now a P4P top ten"

Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
At least Barrera has finally acknowledged it's happening KHAN BARRERA CONFERNCE CALL Frank Warren TV News
Barrera seems more intent on getting one over on Freddie Roach than Khan ;D
For some reason all sides seemed to get a bit defensive when asked about the cut and will Khan target it.
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
well I hate that ginger tosser as well.;D
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
"Doctor Freddie Roach will have to perform another operation, a come back operation on Amir Khan after this fight," said King."
Mental as ever;D
Warren -
"I believe he's going to be the future of British boxing and the future of world boxing. :o
"If Amir wins this fight he gets in a situation where he will fight for a world title, hopefully in his next fight." :o:o
There are times I love boxing and the sheer outright nonsense people talk.
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
The best bit was when King called Warren... Frank Maloney ;D

If he beats Barrera he'll be fighting Nate Campbell next, believe it or not. I just watched Barrera's last fight and Khan's got a good chance of beating him too.
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
I think Khan will stop Barrera in 10.Khan needs to fight with a high pace landing fast combinations to head and body then out of reach again Barrera is'nt the fight he once was and he wont last the pace.Target the area where to cut was to if he reopens it he could stop him on cuts.
-
Re: anyone bought tickets for Khan Barrera yet?
Both of you, wash your mouths out with soap.:(
tbh - that is pretty much how I would expect Khan to tackle things.
Q. Can he stick to that game plan all through the fight?
Is Barrera going to not try and cut off the ring? Tickle Khan's chin and body at some point?
