Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
I'm guessing Hoya will announce his retirement as a boxer... and PAC gets credit of placing Hoya to retirement...;) Tho Hoya still remain as one of PAC's idols...;)
-
Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
Oscar's nutritionist should retire... no elite athlete will want to work with him now.
Pac is so mighty he ended two careers in one night and one of the guys he didn't even touch!! :o

Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
Oscar sees Hopkins and Sugar Shane, two of his buddies and legends still going on way past their prime, he will not retire ans will want to follow their trails a bit more, especially as he likes money a lot. I say he,ll make 2-3 more fights or something like that, he'll start with one he can definitely win and will drag attention (JCC for obvious reasons) then 2 scenarios: he goes for another one to keep being in shape and then go for a last big one or he'll try the big one immediately. Personally, I really do not believe he will retire now with the examples around him and with a few more possible go to money. Though I am no more a fan of Oscar, I do not think he's done, he deserved a razor thin draw against FLoyd and he was 15 pounds below what he should have been against Floyd. He's not the one he used to be, maybe, but he definitely has enough legs and pep to make a few good fights.

I would agree with you except that I don't think copper rusts.... it just gets collects that whitish crusty stuff.

Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
Most of pro-athletes (I'd say 90%). When they say they will retire, they don't really mean it. They always come back for another shot.

He turned it down cuz he said Oscar was to big. Now after Oscar-Pac all of a sudden Hatton says he would of beat him too. LOL. Sure Hatton. Sure
Haha he would have done, he was a sitting target for pac so what makes you think it would be different for hatton.

I guess what VD is trying to say is Hatton was afraid to gamble unlike Pacquiao. I mean, let's be honest... nobody knew Oscar was gonna show up looking that way on fight night.

Pac had the perfect game plan for Oscar
Yes, a perfect plan: fight the biggest boxing name out there who's out of gas (like Pac and his team said all the time) and way passed his prime, add that big name to your resume with not so much effort, and cash your career's biggest paycheck:).
-
Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
Hoya should announce his retirement now, he has to grab this perfect moment... He has the ideal reasons to retire now... He's just been annihilated, trashed, embarrassed, destroyed, humiliated, obliterated and totally wiped out by a midget in his very last fight... He don't have it anymore in the highest level, he can't pull the trigger anymore...
Hoya will do good in boxing promotion...
.

Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
Take the fight with JCC jr. and give him a chance to avenge his father.
-
Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
I think he will announce his retirement tomorrow. But, I think he will fight again in a year or so.
-
Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
I believe Oscar should retire and stop stealing from the fans. As a boxer, it has been a long time since Oscar has put on a great, jaw dropping, hall of fame performance, yet he still puts on these pay per view goldmines and makes money while the fans get robbed. This has gone on far too long and he should focus on getting his boys (Mosley and Hopkins) more fights, since they clearly are more interesting and exciting in the ring than Oscar is.

would also love to see that but that's all jr is getting, a chance. dlh would plaster him.

Re: De La Hoya
Oscar, without a doubt, will fight again, even if he says he will retire during the press conference. Oscar is motivated by one thing only: money. And since Oscar could make money if he simply stepped in the ring with a punching bag (literally or figuratively-however you want to take it), he will DEFINITELY be back in the ring soon.
-
Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
Yep. Oscar won't retire just yet. De La Hoya vs Chavez will be a huge attraction.
-
Re: What do you think Oscar de la hoya do?
I just spoke to my inside source.... supposedly Oscar is holding a press conference today to announce that the cross-dressing photos were real.

i didn't feel robbed one bit in his win against Mayorga, that was just 4 fights ago

it's official, DLH is retired
Oscar De La Hoya announces retirement from boxing - ESPN
gonna miss seeing him fight, but understand fully that if he continued it would not be the same DLH that was a great. Good luck to him as a promoter and hope he does keep up the good work, honestly might be one of the few people that gets inducted into the hall of fame for 2 categories
-
Re: it's official, DLH is retired
I'm not a fan of his, but there's no denying he created mainstream interest like no other fighter since Tyson, and in a much healthier way.
Watching Pac tee off on without response him was a sad sight and it's unfortunate that was his last moment in the ring.
He did great things for the sport of boxing and deserves to be remembered as a great fighter who always sought to take on the best.
-
Re: it's official, DLH is retired
Well, that was a fun ride.Good move on his part.Always nice to see them from round 1 to the hard end.I was not a fan but came to respect his ablities inside and outside of the ring.Has nothing but mega promotional status ahead and please do not turn Ring Magazine into GQ light. He'll always be 'The Colgate Kid' to me ;D

That's the main reason why Floyd Sr. bailed out on him.
I really feel sorry for Floyd Sr. First it was fishnets, now it's thong.

What would have this guy done to Mayweather Jr. if they met when he could still "pull the trigger"? (Freddie Roach)

No use making it till you're too old and punch drunk to enjoy it.

Re: it's official, DLH is retired
After his last effort there really was no other option.
-
Re: it's official, DLH is retired
Good, he will be remembered well. Now he can focus on running his business.
Cheers Oscar, it was the right move.
-
Re: it's official, DLH is retired
I think he will return for a farewell fight.

Re: it's official, DLH is retired
Phuk retirement, I want to see ODLH as a gate keeper.
So, who gets the credit for sending ODLH to the convalescent home?

The Human Buzz! Has retired more fighters than Social Security. ;D
Hatton is next!

i defended you in the other thread but this is just to show DLH respect he actually deserves, and i wouldn't be laughing too hard seeing how Cotto right now can be facing jail time for his scuffle with his uncle

Honestly, I don't care if Miguel and his uncle do go to jail maybe it will teach them to act more civilized in the future.
And BTW, I don't need you or any one else to DEFEND me on a forum. It is just a forum, not a football game. lol

Danny and EL - Lets keep this thread on Oscar's retirement ;)
There was no way back from the shellacking he received from Pac... apart from when he comes back - in a years time - to fight Chavez jr (if they can keep jr unbeaten of course) ;)
