Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
I think Hatton by stoppage. Discount Manny's last fight. De La Hoya looked like a fucking lolipop and was totally weight drained.
It'll be very interesting and I'm a little bit concerned about Hatton getting cut early on.
I am not overly confident about my prediction but listen to this.
The odds for Mayweather v Hatton were 1-2 Mayweather ;D 6-4 Hatton.
I mean, they were a joke. I put Mayweather about a 1-9 favourite.
The odds for this fight are about the same. 1-2
I put it slightly for Hatton - Maybe even 5-6 each of them.
People are reading too much into Manny's last fight.

maybe, but then again, manny agreed to fight dela hoya is balls enough when hatton declined. manny stood there and traded with dela hoya who even though a lot of people thought he was dead at the weight had a big punchers chance. people now are saying that ricky's size should give him the W because he is rough and tough. they said the same thing about manny against oscar. if you saw the weigh in pictures today, did you notice that dela hoya looked better during his weigh in against manny that ricky did today? there goes another excuse.
-
Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
No excuses from me. Hatton loses weight to put it all back on immediately. Oscar was walking around at the weight for a long while before the weigh in. For what purpose I really couldn't say, it was stupid. Hatton will be hydrated and I will be surprised to see him weigh less than 150 come fight time.
Hatton and Oscar are very different beasts. Should be a great scrap.

Seriously, don't read anything into Manny's last fight. Take his last fight away and you still have got a frightening fighter.
I say Hatton win with a degree of uncertainty. Manny might bamboozle Hatton for sure, but Hatton at this weight - you can not argue with his record. The only thing was not fighting Witter and I guess if you were being harsh you could question a few things on Hatton's cv. There are a few victories against older opponents.
I'm excited by this fight and as it's so close, I'm thinking it will either be the following.
a) Hatton's strength at this weight sees him through and he wins by stoppage.
b) Manny bamboozles and wins.
c) mix of Hatton's strength and Manny's bamboozling means a very tight fight goes to the cards.
d) Hatton gets cut early and ref stops it.

i am not reading into it bro. im just saying that manny people discount that fight. a fight that was also offered to ricky which he declined. i see a fight that will be back and forth but i think manny will eventually cut ricky up and vice versa. there will be a stoppage.

Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
What's up Fellas!
I have been reading this message board for a long time. It is the best board out
there IMO, with posters who genuinely love the sport and I figure now is as good
a time as any to start posting from time to time.
Anyway, regarding the Pac/Hatton fight, I have thought about it for awhile as to
who I think will win and I say Hatton takes this. I think Pac's skill speaks volumes
for him, he is a great fighter. However, I think the odds makers/people have given
Pac way too much credit for beating Oscar thus making him the favorite. DLH was
less than a shell of himself in their fight and hadn't made 47 in years. He was a dried
out prune in the ring that night. I think that anyone who knows anything about
training for a fight understands that when a fighter (ODLH) weighs in a day before
the fight and still weighs the same or maybe less the next day, that fighter is bound
to have problems most of the time, especially when he's an older fighter coming down
for the first time in a long time.
Roach was right in saying he couldn't pull the trigger anymore and in that weight
drained state it was even more apparent. Even when he was getting pasted with
shots he seldom even came back with anything that was effective, he was very
old that night. Getting old is simply seeing the openings just like you always did
but not being able to let the hands go or if you do it's too slow and late.
Some have made comparisons to the Mayweather/De La Hoya fight because it was
a close fight and the Pac fight wasn't. I don't believe they can be compared
realistically speaking because that fight was at 54 and ODLH obviously didn't have
to kill himself to make weight and had been fighting at 54 or 60 since about 2001.
He was a middleweight more than likely when he entered the ring the night he
fought Mayweather. Actually Mayweather was about 150 at the weigh in and
was still about the same the day after, which seems to contradict what I said
above, but the difference is Mayweather didn't drain himself to make weight.
He isn't even a natural Super Welterweight.
So, my take is that Hatton at 40 will not be a punching bag and if JMM can hurt
Pac, Hatton should have no problem doing so. Pac is fast and has great skills and
he could be too fast for Hatton and he might just give him a beating, but I just
don't see it happening. Hatton is no slouch in the speed department himself and
he will be the stronger of the two, he will rough Pac up, he will apply pressure.
Pac will have to get his respect quickly or he might get steamrolled. Pac has
fought some limited fighters with his move up in weight. David Diaz is another
that comes to mind, I can probably still beat that guy. Incidentally, I am not
a fan of either of these guys but I am a fan of boxing and it seems like it has
taken forever for May 2nd to get here. I just hope the fight is as good as I
think it will be. If I am wrong about the winner it won't be the first time.

Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
Well, well, well.
Lessons learned today:-
1) You should never bet against Pacman (should have learned after the DLH fight but I'm slow...)
2) Pacman maybe the best fighter I have ever seen.
3) His power pound for pound is as devastating as say, Tommy Hearns, who moved all the way from welter to cruiser.
All in all, a masterclass from Pac and Roach. Freddie called it exactly right.
Pretty disappointed for Ricky, but not for Mayweather Sr - that guy really is a DICK.
I'm still in a state of shock really. Credit to Pac and his supporters, that is ONE HELL OF A FIGHTER you guys have got there.
-
Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
I got it horribly wrong and do indeed look like a big spastic.
Well done to Manny on doing an excellent job. You couldn't ask for him to do anything more.
Knocked his opponent down 3 times in 2 rounds and a brutal, brutal stoppage to top it off.
I have to say that Hatton showed no real improvements, and looked very poor. His chin was open, he showed little defence and didn't seem to know what to do. His punch resistance is shot.
It was tough to watch, and on watching the replay all I could see were holes in everything Ricky was doing. I don't think I want to watch it again.
And Mayweather Snr showing up 30 minutes before a fight? That guy is an idiot and I hope all top fighters have learned their lesson from this whole experience.
I am bitter because I'm upset. But congrats to all the Pac fans on a splendid win.

Welll 1st I'd like to say WOW, what a great job, as usual, by the gys running the servers for Saddo's. Never fails on a mega-fight night how they outshine themselves. Only took 5 hours to get on here and hopefull this wll post. SPOT ON SERVER FAGS!!!!!!!!!:bucktooth:
Well I was wrong; Pac didn't beat Ricky like he did Diaz, he beat him worse. I was pulling for RIcky but it went pretty much how I figured it would, just a couple of rounds faster:p I literally got sick to my stomach when he looked like he got shot with a rifle and dropped like hunted prey:o
I hope Ricky is ok, that sucked and I'll never watch that again, it was too much. I'm sure Hatton is feeling a bit embarassed. He seemed to be confused as how to fight; should he box a little or do his trademark bullying. He kept getting stuck in no-man's land andPac shot off on him. No head movement, no jab damn it was sickening to watch. Plus I think they worked on avoiding that left hand and he kept getting tagged with that right. I feel for him and his family, and his fans. I wonder if he'll ever fight again? He needs to hang em' up imo.

Yes, the site has been really playing up. Very annoying.
Totally agree with all that in bold. Ricky looked confused from the get go. It was bizarre watching it and I was shouting at the tv for him to move his head and to stop leaving himself so open. The jab didn't exist. He really didn't seem to know what he was doing and it was shocking to see.
What were they working on exactly in camp? Mayweather Snr has shown himself up more than anything else with this fight. And it really makes me wonder why they stopped sparring two days early. I'm curious to know what has really been going on in that camp.
I was worried too after that final knockdown. Hatton was totally out of it, and it reminded me of those Jones Jr knock outs. He didn't get up for a long time.
Anyway, no excuses. Manny belongs at 140 and the WW's are perhaps not such a leap after all. He is spectacular.
-
Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
Totally agree with Legion, I'd like to see Ricky hang them up.
I know he could probably beat a lot of guys, but I really don't ever want to see him on his back like that again.
Agree with the punch resistance point - his chin appears to be really shot. The first big shot he got hit with had him in trouble and he never really got his legs back after that.
I must admit, that close up of his concusses face while he was lying on the canvas really made me feel for him. He got about as sparked as you can get methinks:o
Now he should retire with his beautiful fiance, loving family and walk straight into a gig as a captain on A Question of Sport.
Ride off into the sunset Mr Hatton, you don't owe anybody anything.

Got to disagree with you there mate. Hatton showed more balls in two roundds than Oscar did in 8 quite frankly. He got up after two big knockdowns and, knowing what kind of force was waiting for him in the second, he still went out there and took his licks.
Totally outfought, and outclassed yes - but just looking for his cheque is bollocks mate.

Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
When Lazcano was bouncing lefts off Hatton, all I could see was Pac duplicating it with emphasis. That was a great display of calculated mayhem he put on Hatton... like an accurate fencer wielding a machete. They should of never tried to restructure Hatton into a boxer type.....I honestly dont think it would have mattered in the end.....but Mayweather,I feel, was a distraction and Hatton ultimatley was stuck in between styles.A little late in the game to try to re envent a guy,at this high level.Manny was just too fast, too crisp and had him from jump off when he clipped him.
Hatton should hold his head up.Did everything he could at the highest of levels.Nothing to ba ashamed of!One thing I'd say as its popular to bash the fallen after a huge loss....when you dismiss a guys accomplishments and calibur....you equally take away, deminish from what your fav fighter just accomplished.Ya cannot have it both ways!
-
Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
to me hatton looked like he really believed that he is as fast as pac. he wasnt protecting his head cause he was trying to time pacs punchesn hoping that he could counter pac. he believed that he was stronger so he just charged in thinking that he will punish pac on the clinch.
pac makes all of his opponents look amateurish except jmm ehehehe. all of them had a plan on how to defeat pac but pac just makes them fail.

are you saying that hatton threw away the fight? thats bs man. if hatton did that then he didnt have to beat the count after the first KD. he knew what was waiting for him if he got up and beat the count. the guy is a warrior and he gave himself a chance to beat pac by fighting on even knowing he was outgunned from the get go. ricky fought a better man tonight. thats it.

Yeah to be honest I thought he looked off in the staredown as stupid as that sounds. He didn't look himself confidence wise to me and I thought he was nervous. Then he looked lost and tentative from the get-go.
I alluded to in a post earlier this week that you can't teach an old dog new tricks; and even if you do it doesn't mean they will do them when you want them to. I thought it was an interesting match-up with him and Sr. but he never should have left Billy. But with that said I don't think he ever would have beat Pacman; no matter if Sr. had refined him to be more a boxer or Graham had kept doing with him what he had. In the end he just looked at odds with himself and paid dearly for his confusion, not to mntion just fighting a monster in PAC.

Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
I should have stuck to my guns - From the beggining I was convinced that Manny had too much for Ricky but people kept putting Ricky's case over to me lol
''Don't put too much weight into the Oscar victory'', ''Hatton's much bigger and stronger than Pac'' etc etc
I just kept quiet leading up to the match - My friend said, ''No way Pac can knock Hatton out - He hit Oscar with everything and didn't knock him out'' - I didn't say anything but a ''hmmm'' because I felt that if Manny hit Hatton, he was going.
Hatton doesn't have the punch resistance that Oscar has and Pac is a dynamo. I think those 2 things meant a Pac victory.
Not sure where people get off blaming Floyd Snr? I know Floyd certainly doesn't advocate the no head movement, hands down by your chest defensive technique that Ricky used last night!
-
Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
i knew it...before the fight, everyone said "no way pac can beat hatton nor can he do much damage"...now that the fight ended in a flash with pac the victor, more excuses like "hatton was like fighting just for a paycheck" or "he wasn't fighting the way he used to fight" or "the referee was always jumping into him"....come on give me a break!
-
Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
all i can say is when pac steps into the the ring.
he make these great fighters like an ordinary one.;D

Re: No way Pac beats Hatton
You can include me in the, "boy was I wrong category." Pac made a believer out of me last night. That was textbook execution on sliding under shots and countering at the same time. The self proclaimed best trainer in the world couldn't teach Hatton to keep his chin
down when he punches. On a side note:Last night's fight gives me an indication of just how good JMM is now that I think about it. I want to see Pac/Mayweather! I think it will happen in early 2010 if Mayweather beats JMM. It will be a great fight!

ahemm. Pac would have knocked oscar out the next round but oscar's corner quit before that could happen.

Hatton is a good fighter but not a great one. It is amazing how many english fight fans were deluded into seeing hatton as something more than what he was. . . . No hall of fame for Hatton, no way.

Never say never!
But I can say I told you so!
It was a one sided beating, Manny ripped thru Hatton like a hot butter knife and Hatton was the butter ;D
Kel and JT rock were big shyt talkers too. It's amazing how people embarass themselves sometimes. :vd:

I've been owned how exactly?
My post told of how I felt that Pac was going to win as soon as the fight was announced - I didn't say I changed my mind on my pick.
Just that the Hatton fanclub made a good case and had me wondering whether the fight would be closer than I initially thought.
Owned? No - Try again, epic fail. :kick:

Boy, was I wrong (see above).
I love this site for the posters who would immediately admit that they have been wrong.
I think that's cool too. I've seen people that were sure Hatton would win take the lose just fine. They have admitted that they were wrong but I am yet to see a PacFan admit that the desicions to both Marquez fights were a bit shady:rolleyes:. So now I wonder how they would take it if Pac lost again. Maybe C-Lo has been the only one that has admitted that unless I missed something. Does this forum goes back to when Pac faced Morales 1? I am curious to see how PacFans took the loss.

"but I am yet to see a PacFan admit that the desicions to both Marquez fights were a bit shady:rolleyes:.
Equally, Pacfans have yet to see an admission from some JMM fans that the decision on the Pac-JMM fights were both Pacquiao wins!;)
"So now I wonder how they would take it IF Pac lost again".
Conjecture! The use of "IF" in a question will almost always gather an ASSumed response, which we all know will make an "ASS of U & ME" for both parties.
