like when Pacquiao fought
Julio Diaz?
:vd:
That should tell you how rememerable he was ;)
David Diaz.

David, Diaz, Julio Diaz . . . who cares. They are both awful. The only half decent Diaz worth mentioning was the one that Marquez and Campbell beat.

Khans impressed me the way he's bounced back and under Roach i think he'll get the title he so badly wants.

I don't really get what your trying to say and i have no idea why your bringing Manny Pacquiao into this. David Diaz was a weak title holder but atleast he stopped Santa Cruz a fighter who was robbed against Joel Casamayor, and even a win over a faded Erik Morales.
Is better than anything of Andriy Kotelnik's resume by a mile, his best win is against Gavin Rees for crying out loud. He won the belt by beating one of if not the worst title holders at that time.
And i think we can all forgive Manny Pacquiao for one gimme fight, considering he fought the best fighter at 140. And considering the names he fought after and before the David Diaz fight. And considering Manny Pacquiao has proven himself where as Amir Khan hasn't far from it.
Amir Khan is only moving up because 140 is a stale division at the moment, its obvious he's not gonna stay around at 135 with fighters like Edwin Valero, Breidis Prescott, Juan Diaz, Joel Casamayor, Michael Katsidis. All dangerous fighters that could beat him.
Its about time Amir Khan stepped it up he keeps telling us this and that, but when are we gonna see it ? beating Andriy Kotelnik will prove nothing. Yes he is durable but he is limited and slow, and its a well matched fight for the faster Amir Khan who should box rings around him for 12 rounds.
Every single fight Amir Khan has had is all smoke/mirrors, except for the Breidis Prescott fight. But he was only chosen because he himself got a controversial decision in his last fight against a mediocre fighter, i personally think Breidis Prescott won it but it was close and he didn't look that impressive.
All i want to see is Amir Khan in with a live dangerous opponent, im not hating on Amir Khan i just want to see him take risks. I wouldn't of been disappointed if he took on Kendall Holt, Demetrius Hopkins, Junior Witter, Juan Urango, Nate Campbell, Timothy Bradley, Paul Malignaggi, Mike Alvarado, Ricardo Torres, Randall Bailey, Victor Ortiz, Devon Alexander.
Any of these fights at 140 would of been more appealing to me than the one he's taking now. Amir Khan fans say "Well he's young and is still inexperienced" when thats a piss poor excuse IMO. He's had plenty of Amateur fights aswell as Olympic experience. He's had 21 pro fights and he ain't that young anymore at 22 either.
I think its about time we see a real step up in class, i'll forgive him for this easy route. Because its an easy route to a title belt. But after this fight i want to see him in with some real live opponents.

Agree it's a strong division but the facts are Amir made Barrera look like nothing and would have stopped him sooner or later regardless of that cut
Roach has got him bang on it and the difference was obvious to see (hands up high, in out style, fast feet etc...remind you of anyone?) and saprring with Pac is obviously going to pay off and to me it looks like it has already has.
Think he'll have fun with Kotelnik and get the strap but we'll have to see about some other bigger hitting fighters when the time comes.
Sad thing is it's only gonna take one Bomb bang on the jaw or temple and it's good night Khan again.
Shame really as he has every other tool in the box in abundance imo.
based on what? His massive punching power? Sorry Smash that is laughable.
He may have gone back to focusing on speed but as I said elsewhere, he doesn't have the chin or the punch of Pac so it's silly to think he is any kind of second coming to save British boxing now that Hatton has bit the dust at elite level.
Come off it he was boxing Barreras head off and had him on the back foot throughout the entire fight.
Thats what i saw anyway.
lol... you obviously saw a lot more than Barrera was able to with all that blood...

There is more chance of Peter Griffin ruling the world than Amir Khan;D

We'll see about that Smashup.
I think Maidana can outdo Martinez's KO. ;D

Re: Khan - Ready to rule the World
Amir Khan to rule the world? I would rather Israel become the global superpower than to see this evil! :o
Ahem, only joking folks. ;D
I know it is an old thread. But like PSL, I am quietly expecting Maidana to knock him out.
-
Re: Khan - Ready to rule the World
I would love maidana to KO him.
-
Re: Khan - Ready to rule the World
Amir is a decent fighter - he is big for his weight, good handspeed, good technique, quite gutsy in the ring. Question mark over his chin, but nobody's perfect.
Its just a shame that he sometimes pisses people off when he says things. The truth of the matter is that he is actually thick as pigshit, and he shouldnt be allowed to speak in front of a microphone as he never thinks through what he is saying.
-
I'm still unsure, my heart is torn. I've loved Maidana for ages and I've always insisted he is the best in this category. Now he's up against Khan who is a UK fighter and someone I think is a real talent.
I just can't split them, but my head says Khan because he is the better boxer.
By the way, Skel is up for a major sig bet for anyone who thinks Khan will lose.

Him and I already arranged that bet since the first Khan-Maidana presscon.
It's 1 month sig bet.
I'm torn too cuz I'm a Khan fan. But I gotta follow my instinct.
It's not gonna be a 4 rounder fight. It's a 12 rounder. And Khan will get caught eventually.

I have to admit as the fight gets closer I am not as confident still confident of a Khan win but some doubts have crept in!!

I've gone the opposite, the closer the fight is getting, the more I'm swaying back towards Khan!

I was just watching the Malinaggi fight and he took some shots in that fight, but totally different style in this fight, I think he follows the gameplan he should shine.

You can't compare taking shots from Malinaggi to anyone! That guy lands tickles, not punches.
Game plans are all well and good until you get tagged!
I actually think Khan can take a couple big shots, I think his chin is over dwelled upon. But he won't be able to take a few in a row.

I'm backing out of the bet Skel. Whether you like it or not. I'm pussying out. I'm serious.
I wanna watch and enjoy the fight. I can't be cheering for one dude, but at the same time worry I'm gonna lose a bet.

BREIDIS PRESCOTT: "AMIR KHAN...WHEN HE GETS HIT HARD, HE DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT TO DO"
"I've moved up in weight and thank God. I've won two fights in a row. I'm working hard and training hard and I'm waiting for Amir Khan to give me a rematch...Amir Khan is a great fighter and I always said he'd beat Maidana, however, Khan, despite being quick and throwing lots of punches, his defense isn't the best. When he gets hit hard, he doesn't seem to know what to do. His defense needs work," stated jr. welterweight Breidis Prescott, who talked about his strong desire to challenge for a title by giving Amir Khan an opportunity to avenge his only loss, a first round knockout by Prescott over 2 years ago.

No thank you. Bradley next, please....
Prescott? What has Prescott done in the last 2 years or so? It's silly now. Khan has actually proven himself a lot better than he was. Obviously not an end product, but far better than Prescott who appears to be begging Khan for a fight and has done nothing much to deserve such a matchup.

I want to see if Amir Khan can revenge his loss, Breidis Prescott will always be dangerous. His tall and has the reach, i don't know why people are writing off Breidis Prescott. Yes he has been outboxed and whatever.
But he still has the mental edge over Amir Khan, and when Breidis Prescott does land. Will Amir Khan be able to shake it off ?
Even though Marcos Maidana has good power, he's more of an arm puncher. Where as Breidis Prescott has more explosive power even though he is wild.
I think it could be very interesting, and wouldn't be shocked if Breidis Prescott KO'ed Amir Khan again.
And if Amir Khan and his team where that confident about beating him, they would have already took the fight.

But considering that Khan has moved on, Prescott needs to earn a shot. That would mean getting into the top 6 at JWW. He isn't doing that, he is just calling out desperately. He won't get a shot doing that.

Good point he could fight Lamont Peterson or Victor Ortiz, two fights he has a good chance in. Well a better chance than against any of the other top names. Or even Marcos Maidana himself what a war that would be, can anyone say FOTY ?
