Actually no. If Pacman fights him at 147 and if he beats Cotto, myself and other people will say that Pacman beat a declining Cotto that never recovered from Margarito.;D

Cotto fought Clotty and 146. I see this as a non issue. Cotto will just have to lay off the cervesas. And unfortunatley for all of us I'm sure Cotto will come in pretty much naked for the weigh in.
Funny thing about this fight. If 14 months ago this fight was talked about at this weight everyone would of said it's a suicide mission for Pac.
If PAC can fight De La Hoya at 147 he can sure as hell fight Cotto at 147. Why not just fight him at 147, just two pounds more and make a real god damn statement instead of trying to edge lower and lower in weight.
Take your catchweight, and haul it back over to the Pacman board. No offence meant.
I will give Manny credit if he beats Cotto at 145. First, Cotto can make 145 without being seriously drained. Second, at 145, Cotto will be fast and still STRONGER than Manny. Three, I believe Cotto will inflict Manny's worst beating as a boxer. Many people are forgetting that only physical, pressure, strong fighters give Cotto trouble. Speedy fighters with some pop or less power get brutally destroyed. Manny may have some pop at that weight and definitely speed, but he will not out physical/pressure Cotto. Just listen to Freddie Roach's comments. When Manny fought de la Hoya and Hatton, he had no doubt Manny would win. He publicly spelled out the blueprint to beat de la Hoya and he predicted a brutal KO of Hatton. If you read Roach's comments concerning a probable Cotto fight, they are more respectful and cautious. Roach has said that it will be a tough fight for Manny and he has also said that he believes Manny will win, but what trainer ever says his fighter will lose? At first, Roach was campaigning hard for the fight to be at 142. He later said 145 was OK, but maybe he realized that he was sounding too concerned publicly for Manny's health. Late round TKO by Cotto in my opinion.
Hell yah! remember Pacquiao is a natural 130 to 135lbs fighter. His fighting 10 lbs more... Any fighter who fights bigger guys should be credited!
At fight night Pacquiao will be 148lbs and Cotto will be 160lbs! So, 145lbs is no big deal...

Cotto is slowing down drastically. His last 3 fights will prove that. Pac will spin him around all night and destroy slowly until Cotto's legs gives up. Pac by 10th.
so, haven't read any of the other responses, but..
A year ago matching Cotto and Pacquiao would have been seen as a huge mistach for Cotto's benefit.
It's weird now. A couple weeks back I was reading on the Cotto forum and the posters there were saying Arum wanted Cotto to be a sacrificial lamb for Pacquiao. Whaaaaa?
If Pacman and Cotto ever meet, then Pac should get amazing credit for defeating Cotto if that is the outcome.
It's a big deal.
i think people are giving pac way too much credit for the de la hoya and hatton wins. if those fights didn't happen i'm sure they'd be saying cotto will destroy pac even at 140lbs. lol
At 28? Hell no. Cotto is nowhere near someone's sacrificial lamb. He still so many things ahead of him if he gets pass Pac. But I can almost guarantee though, that Cotto will be the underdog in this fight.
It's pretty obvious GAME hates Pac cuz he's still sourgraping from the defeats that Pac gave to his boy Barrera.
A win over Cotto at any weight deserves mucho respect.
Wow he beat a washed up Barrera and washed up Morales and washed up Oscar . Has Pac ever met a prime fighter? He talks of fighting Cotto but wants him to starve himself first . The only two prime guys he fought he got knocked out by . Fact
Thats my point that you lot should stick to your own forum and people who wana talk boxing should post on these boards. Why do you think that new forum has been made? Cuz you guys ruin every thread wherever you go.Quote:
it just puzzles me why posers like you who calls other posters "idiots" and don't have a decent boxing analysis or opinion gets a positive rep! if you don't wanna see the name 'pac' then don't go to a thread with the name 'pac'

Hatton was pretty much in his prime. Prior to Pac, his only loss was against PBF, p4p #1, and before that he beat a string of top junior welterweights. Hatton was universally acknowledged as #1 at junior welterweight. He had never lost a match at that weight and fought pretty much all-comers.
i like lumpia and chicken adobo as much as the next guy, but I'm by no means a pac groupie.
not after the beating Cotto took from Margarito. prior to that beating, yes, i would agree.
in addition, absolutely destroying Hatton in basically one round at 140 - where he never had lost a fight before - is quite an accomplishment. and that knockout was easily a candidate for the knockout of the year.
after seeing odlh drained for the fight, there is a point in what you say, but remember prior to the fight, pac was the heavy underdog. many boxing fans, including myself, criticized odlh for fighting the much smaller pacman, and avoiding margarito and other fighters more his size. boy were we wrong.
Hatton was hardly in his prime. Colin Hart reckons he has steadily been in decline since the beat Tszyu. Since the KO loss to Floyd Hatton struggled badly with a washed up Lazcano and was hurt in that fight . Proof enough he shoudl have retired way back then but he went on regardless like too many fighters do. For Pacfans to suggest that Hatton was in his prime post the Lazcano fight and Floyd KO loss is just laughable. Its like me saying Pac was in his prime when he got beat by Torrencampo.Quote:

Woah there hater. I thought I specifically said I wasn't a Pacman groupie. Don't include me in that group, Por Favor.
Either you are confusing peak with prime or, in addition to Pac, you have contempt for Hatton and his accomplishments too.
Hatton reached his zenith with his win over Tszyu because he never gave a better performance, but he was still in solid fighting shape when he fought Pacquiao. Maybe slightly passed his prime, but not significantly passed it as you seem to suggest. Recall that Hatton was 25 when he fought Tszyu. After Tszyu, Hatton beat Maussa, Urango, Collazo, and Castillo. Needless to say, Urango and Collazo have gone on to solid fights against the world's best at or around that weight class. How many other junior welterweights could put together that string of victories like Hatton? He wasn't universally regarded as #1 in that weight class for no reason. Sure he looked rusty when he fought Lazcano, but it makes sense because he was coming off his first ever knock out, let alone defeat. Most fighters do.
What I meant was that being in your prime isn't for just one fight. The Tszyu fight was definitely Hatton's greatest win, but he had many good ones afterward while he was still in his prime.
. . . hang on there loser. Hatton hasnt looked good in years. Paulie was a guy who had zero punch power so if we remove that non event from the list then he has shown that he peaked years ago.
If you want to make that out to be a great win then go ahead but it depends how much you rate Hatton. Ive never thought much of him but I dont think as much of Pac as the Filipinos do either.
Whilst Pacquiao trying to drain WWs for fights is a disgrace, his win over Hatton was phenomenal. Yes Hatton fought like an amatuer, but Pacquiao still beat the man at 140 in 2 rounds. Do I think Hatton was never the same post-PBF? Yes. Do I think he fought a stupid fight & ignored his corner? Yes. Does that take anything away from Manny? No. He did what he needed to do.
Also as much as someone can question his wins over past it versions of Morales & ODLH, he fought 2 very close fights with JMM. I felt he lost both, but he still made them both as close as can be & deserves respect for that.
& no way was Barrera shot when he first lost to Pac, he still managed to pull out one of his best performances against Morales in their 3rd fight a year later so no way was he washed up then.
and we're back :-\
