Do you drink? Because that's a drug just like the others.

At 17? :headscratch:
lol
I don't care what others do. I'm like you, Lefty, like to have the odd drink although am not of age. Don't touch weed or any other drug, cuz well, just ain't my trip. But I don't look down my nose to those that do. If they are trying to force it on others, I may not be so cool on them for it, especially hard drugs.
I think it won't be too long before we start to see weed being legalized. It has medical benefits and is already being used for that. Certainly more useful then alcohol is that area. Less loss of motor skills when a person is influenced by it, and why you don't hear of too many pot heads wiping out innocent familes stoned compared to drunk drivers behind the wheel.
I guess the arguement is the gateway issue to other harder drugs, to which the same can be said about alcohol. Not sure what to say about that. I do know drugs are a problem tho, particularly the harder ones. I know it has killed some and sent a lot more I know already into dangerous territory.
Cant speak about any where else but in the US alcohol contributes to more deaths and wasted money than all illegal drugs combined annually.
Alcohol is way worse for you than marijuana, despite what some people may tell you. Alcohol directly leads to millions of deaths every year, weed does not. Legality means nothing.
I have a 17 year old cousin who smokes pot regularly but doesn't drink. I'd rather he didn't smoke weed at all, but I'd sooner have him do that than drink.
Cannabis and weed are the same thing btw.
I dunno, CFH (silly nickname by the way). I don't particularly like agreeing with a self-righteous sober person ;) but lefty has a point. There is a big difference between alcohol and illicit drugs. People do drugs for one reason and one reason only, to get high. The same is not true of alcohol. Not always, anyway.
That being said, for the person who drinks just to get drunk, then I don't really differentiate between drugs and booze.
I agree. Anyone with a three letter nickname is clearly gay.
I probably should've been clearer in my original post, I agree that people can drink without getting drunk (though you can do drugs without getting high, but no one does and that's a digression) but if you're using booze to get drunk, you're using a drug to get high.
It doesn't matter if alcohol is legal or not. It is still a drug that affects a persons mental equilibrium if consumed in substantial quantities.
There is a lot of hypocrisy and bullshit when it comes to government policy towards issues such as alcohol, cigarettes, drugs and even prescription drugs IMO.
Alcohol and cigarettes are definitely more harmful than a number of so called illegal drugs. People are generally conditioned to accept that government policies are in the public interests. They are not though. Some people died out here recently through drinking some dodgy home brew. In that respect anything unregulated can lead to potential death and tragedy. And if you drink enough of the regulated stuff you will die anyway!
LOL yeah. In Liverpool we refer to drugs as Beak (Coke) Green (Marajuana) and Garys (Ecstacy).
But trust me I've seen people pissed and stoned. And I'ld have the drunk person any day. Drugs just fukk your head up and mind. Say what you want but nothing will ever persuade me that alcohol is worse than taking drugs. The fact drugs aint even legal proves my point. So me taking a gram of cocaine is better than drinking a bottle of becks ? Laughable.
anybody else hear a sheep?
I'm not a fan of mind altering drugs (and by that I mean Ectasy etc) but I tell you something, In the 90s (my day) You would much rather be at a Rave where everybody was pilled up that you would be in the city centre where people were pissed up. If everybody was taking pills instead of drinking there would be no violence surrounding nightlife. I'm not condoning drugs, but this is a fact!
Been quite interested in the Essex Boys story for awhile, watched the film last year, Rise Of The Footsolider. Then i done a bit of researching online, reading about them on there site. I personally think the police had something to do with there death, but we will never know.
haha - well the violence factor for sure is true. I can't remember the last time I saw a guy stoned staring down another at a party (well, maybe if the other dude was hogging the PS3 controller, but that is it). But booze? Near every party I have ever been to some drunk dude with a belly full of liquid courage is ready to take on the world. I actually don't mind it cuz it is funny as fuk to watch 2 drunk assholes beating the hell out of each other and beating their chests, but like I say, have never seen it with guys only stoned from smoking weed.
Yep here I am.
I agree all things in moderation. In my early 20's (I'm nowhere near them now) I did tons of acid, X, mushrooms, meth. Basically I did everything except H. In all that I've seen, I'd say in order of danger.
1. Meth
2. Alcohol
3. X
4. LSD
5. Soda
6. Mushrooms
7. Weed
I've seen the worst in people when they've been up for days on Meth.
Aside from that Alcohol seems to have the worst effect when used on a regular basis, with X close behind. The biggest problem with alcohol is that it is socially accepted as the norm.
I tried marijuana twice and both times literally turned a light shade of green, threw up and felt all paranoid. Drank maybe 4 times; last time I touched alcohol was 1995; just cant deal with the taste and though being buzzed was nice I don't like being so drunk I don't know what's happening. 2nd time I drank I got plastered off tequila. I ended up laying out in the rain with my "friends" shoving big frogs in my mouth lol. The next day my mom made me work in the yard all day. Maybe the worst day ever for me.
I did love doing acid; already told some stories so I won't bother again. Haven't done it since 2000 and probably never will again. I tend to like to stay in control so drugs and alcohol jut really aren't my thing; plus the expense, damage to the body and taste of it; i.e. alcohol and marijuana.
I'd just like to say that alcoholics are no real different to drug users IMO, i've grew up watching drunk people in my family. And i have to tell you alcoholics are vicious people at times.
I mean how many times do we read/see alcoholics beating up there wives/kids, smashing up there houses ? killing people in cars ? having punch ups in pubs ? causing trouble ?
Its also destroys people's lives because they find it incredibly tough, to give up on drink. Just like serious drug users do, and i've seen people in my family piss there life down the kermit on drink.
I've honestly never understood how alcohol was made legal. Marijuana should be legal before alcohol; for the reasons ICB mentioned. Guess all the politicians love a good drink so it's ok.
Funny you go to ball games; get drunk, then go crash your car and kill people. But they keep putting up Don't Drink and Drive signs and billboards which is so absurd to me. I just don't understand it tbh. Of course I don't drink so I wouldn't;D
I can honestly say, every bad mistake I have made or regret I have are due to alcohol. It can be a great thing, but in the wrong hands it can ruin lives ;)
Thx. for the movie tips; going to try and order them. I watched a movie{has nothing to do with what you guys are talking about} called This is England last week. Any Brits seen it? About a young kid who gets pulled into the early 80's Skin movement in UK. Good movie, bizarre at times, but a good watch.
I saw Get Carter; been a while. Love Snatch; about the only good movie Pitt was in. Could't understand a thing he said;D Which reminds me; I see he is starring in a movie called Inglorious Bastards. Looks like a great movie but jeez the sneak peeks at it and Pitt is ruining it with his awful accent.
I said nothing about cocaine, it's a terrible drug IMO. However, getting drunk and getting high on any type of drug are the same. The effects might be different, but you're still getting high. Drinking a bottle of beer is different from getting drunk anyways. And why the fuck would you drink Becks? That garbage tastes like salt-water. However, to return to your point I fully believe some types of drugs are much safer than getting drunk. I've had plenty of experience doing both.
The legality argument is irrelevant. Jaywalking is illegal, that doesn't make is more dangerous than alcohol. I don't want to get into why booze is legal and some drugs are not because it has little to do with this discussion.
IMO coke, meth,H,alcohol, and pills are very, very, bad for anyone. As long as drug companies make a fat profit they could careless. I have no problem with weed. You won't O.D. or pick up a gun and shoot everybody and their brother. You may eat and laugh too much but that's about it. Weed is natural and not man made like other drugs. So fill your pipes and enjoy life.;D

This is a documentary done, ranking the dangers of the 20 most commonly used drugs in the UK and hence trying to give a better ranking for drug classes.
If the government followed these regulations, ecstasy would become legallised or class C, while alcohol would become class A. That definitely follows my experiences with these drugs, it really bothers me that people with no experience with any of these substances control the regulation of them. Let alone the propaganda that they spew out constantly.
I agree with Big H, i'd much rather be in a club full of pingers than drunks. Worst case scenario in the pingers club is you get hugged, worst case in a club of drunks you get king hit.
I have to say my point of view. All the soft drugs, for example, cannabis, they I accept and I could trym them myself (maybe sometimes), becauce they do not remain depented on, But all the heavys drug they are rubbish.
I dont understand them who use cocaine and others bad drugs. Their healt is a balance then.
