This is what I was wondering. What did Cotto's corner (was it Evangelista in there) say after all this? Did he say, "No way I watched like a hawk. Those wraps were legal.", or did he say, "Well I don't know, I never thought they would try to cheat! I mean I was in there, but not the whole time and I wasn't watching with all my attention."? Because to cheat you have to have the opportunity...

Is there a possibility that he cheated? OF COURSE! But I still think it would be a bit dumb for someone who cheated with his handwraps to be parading them all over the place, not hiding at all, and even in the interview knowing the cameras are showing and recording everything. Also, how can we explain the fact that Cotto's punches didn't do a thing and he kept walking through them with ease? Unless he injected plaster in his face.

Yes but the more you get away with something the more confident you become with it, not to mention the knuckle pad (which is what is covered in plaster) is under the wraps. I agree with someone else on here who said he probably started using them after the Williams fight, he needed to start winning big and he totally destroyed Cintron in even better fashion in the second fight to the first.

But really how can looking at Cotto's face be weak evidence?? Was it weak evidence for Billy Collins? Cotto's nose was busted up bad very early, i think it was the second round. Marg is not a huge puncher and Cotto is one tough bastard too. I can see where people are coming from saying we can't be sure, but in them cases common sense should prevail and common sense to me points to Margarito being a cheat and not just against Mosley but against others including Cotto!

I answered Don't know. Only Tony and his handlers know what was going on. I do think it is a bit ridiculous that he is still allowed to fight and not be banned like Resto was.

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. But the speculation is there. If he needs to cheat against what everyone was calling a declining Shane Mosely, then common sense says it is very much likely he needed to cheat to beat a prime undefeated fighter like Cotto.

Is it wrong for me to wish by some strange karma twist of fate, that Margo gets run over by one of these?

I think we can safely assume that illegal wraps not only allow for you to punish your opponent, they give the fighter wearing them greater confidence.

Well remember, Margarito had his license revoked, not suspended, for 1 year before the results of the lab tests came out. The commision stated that it was a minumum of 1 year pending the test results, so it's not like a suspension when the year is up that's it, he can fight again, he has to reapply for his license, and they can chose not to reinstate his license permantently at that time. Which I hope they revoke it for life, the fuking cheater doesn't deserve to step into a ring again.

And Arreola wasn't banned, he was just suspended from their rankings. Which is a complete joke that they did that. Fukers. ;)

Nobody knew what a punk Cintron would turn out to be, that fight had HUGE implications and yes I believe Margarito loaded his wraps for that fight.

Look at what Cintron hit him with and ask yourself if the Margarito that got blasted out by Shane Mosley could have taken that!

I also give you another example of loading gloves seemingly helping a fighter's chin....look at Resto-Collins, is there any way Resto takes those punches from a big puncher like Billy Collins and goes the distance??? Resto had been KO'd 3 times in his career before fighting Collins, all vs some guys with DECENT not magnificent power...Collins was a big puncher 14 wins 11 KO's. You think Resto lasts the distance without those wraps?

Collins was not as big a puncher as his record indicated. He didn't possess great one punch power. He was stopping his opponents cuz they were pretty much over matched.

Obviously we'll never know for sure.

Me personally, I say there is no way he would fight his way up, win the fight of his career and become champ, and then suddenly out of the blue start cheating. No way. He's done it before, and I'm willing to bet my household that he cheated against Cotto.

For me, Marg's career is tainted because of this.

Forget Cotto too, I feel REALLY bad for Cintron, because his career took two HUGE hits with both of his losses to Margacheato. People pretty much wrote poor Cintron off after the second loss, and in reality he got whipped by a guy with loaded gloves.

No, but Shane did something at least Cintron never came close to: skewering Margarito with body shots. What was it, the 1st or 2nd round when Shane hit him in the belly and Margarito looked like he wanted to fall down and vammit?
