Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Well I think this is his plan. He's not a come forward fighter, Vitali would light him up if he did that. He's just trying to frustrate Vitali, have him gass himself out and try to counter with the right. Not working at the moment. Except for maybe the frustrating part.
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Johnson looking for help from his fellow brother. Good thing Bayless is as unbiased as they come
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
A slightly better 3rd for Johnson, at least he started throwing the jab a tiny bit at the end. Klitschko really isn't landing much on him at all but you have to mix in at least some offense. More then some, Johnson just isn't.
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
It is a slow mashing process for Kevin boy
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
“Yes Vitali. Kick my ass” What is Johnson saying to him?
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Johnson talking smack.
Would be better off fighting.
I'm wondering when Johnson will realise that he has shorter arms than this other guy??
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Things are bad when I'm paying more attention to the way Bayless operates than the actual fight
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
If johnson wants to wear vitali out hes gotta move not just stand there
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
To be fair, Johnson is doing ok work with the jab, its just Klitschko's the only one landing any power shots.
Two ugly fighters :-\
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
My stream went down...
And I just don't care...
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Johnson's not a mover, never has been. This is exactly how I knew he'd fight. He'd probably wear himself out moving.
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Johnson shouldn't be allowed back into the US after this embarrassing performance
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
all that shit talk Johnson has done now maybe he is understanding why Vitaly has never even been behind on the scorecards in a fact his whole career
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Another Klitschko barnburner,
I cant see Haye doing any better

Haye would pull out of the fight during the ring walk
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Eddie Chambers has some similarities with KJ but he would try a lot harder. And he's better. But Vitali's too big and awkward.
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
I've stopped watching, I could probably do a more entertaining RBR now.
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Yeah, since my stream went down, I've rediscovered the will to live and have put the vodka and pills away, and am instead going to take the dog out for a walk in the sunshine...
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
I just want it to go 12, get me my points in the prediction contest, don't do anything stupid Kevin, no power punches.
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
11-0 for Vitali...and Johnson talking smack and postering. :shakehead:
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
At the end Johnson wants to fight. Pathetic
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
What a tool Johnson is, squaring up to Wlad and Vitali at the end as if he's a big deal.
He was Junior Witter at 230 lbs, fucking awful, I was willing him to walk to on to one in the dying seconds.
I'd even root for David Haye against him.....
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
I don't know about you guys but I was entertained :) Well, what could you expect really?
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
My god, why he fought that way...that was ridiculous...
I thought he had good tools to at least be a "threat" in some rounds....the guy is just a threat for boxing in itself acting like he did..
I really would like to see one athletic heavy fighting with his heart against klitchko...
problem, are we able to name one ???
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
So Johnson punked out ?? Zahir raheem ish...Smoke Gainer vs Marquez ?? Cannot see until tape delay

Especially as it should be a no contest 12-0 Vitali from what i've seen

Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Johnson will be embarrased after all the pre fight talk. Seems like he was delighted with the fact that he didn't get knocked out and didn't care about the title. It will probably be his only chance of getting a world title and he blew it with that non display. Vitali did all he could against a fighter who didn't come to fight.
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Is anyone really surprised? Of course all of the pre-fight talk was just that. Even I knew not to take that seriously. Everyone knows Kevin Johnson doesn't have much power in his punch and that Vitali has a great chin. The fight really couldn't have gone any other way. The only surprise is that Vitali did not KO him or TKO like some had predicted.

Problem with Vitaly is that everyone seems to be confident against him and do go in with a plan and heart...
Vitaly looks as though he is easy to beat and these guys seem to all fall to the same opinion then in the ring all is not what seemed so easy and obvious

Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
I didn't see it the way everyone else did. Obviously Vitali dominated, but the thing is Johnson should have been nowhere near a title shot. He's actually got some real talent, but you can't make the jump from Devin Vargas to Vitali Klitschko just like that. He needed at least another 3 or 4 fights to gain the experience to be competitive in there.
I'm amazed no one is actually bagging on Klitschko for making this I believe a voluntary title defence. It's the equivalent of Mayweather or Pacquiao choosing to fight Antwone Smith, someone who might be dangerous in about 18 months to 2 years. Unlike others, I saw some talent in Johnson tonight & if you give him another year or so, he might be able to work himself back into position. Johnson fought like a sparring partner tonight for one key reason & that's that at this stage of his career he should be no more than a Klitschko sparring partner.
If he learns from tonight, he will get another shot & he'll make better of it. A more competent promoter wouldn't have just jumped at the money, but would instead looked to get him the shot at a level where he was ready for the title.

Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
Cagey counterpunchers are always going to give Vitali trouble. I'd like to see Toney or Chambers in there with him.

Good post Jaz, I do agree about Johnson not being ready, the trouble is NOBODY is ready, and the guys at the top have already been handily beaten by the Klit's so its a difficult situation.
But I don't think Vitali fighting Johnson in a stay busy fight is as bad as Mayweather or Manny fighting Antwone Smith. Firstly Vitali is almost 40 and has only been back in action this year after an absence of four or five years.
Secondly it was his second fight in as many months. Floyd fights like once a year so it would be ridiculous for him to fight Antwone Smith but if he wanted to get another quick stay busy fight round about now to just get some more ring time in before March it wouldn't be that big a deal, it's what the old school fighters did all the time.
I guess Vitali wanted to makes sure he got in three fights this year, that's all.

Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
This is sad...replay at round 8 right now.I want the 30 minutes back that I spent believing Johnson had a chance :-X.Vitali can be worked on and hit,not a monster but Johnson did not think so.But props to him...love his activity level and he gets it done.

Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
This was THE WORST round by round I have ever fucking seen...thanks for nothing you bastards. I checked on here time and time again, never a total score, never a round score, just people bitching about the fight...can you please in the future score the rounds no one gives a crap about what your opinion is on the fight UNLESS it includes the score, and even then the score/result is the main reason for a round-by-round or any kind of spoilers

Who has prooven that? The only reason Vitali lost to Chris Byrd was because he tore his rotator cuff (he was well ahead on the scorecards).
I want to know, was Vitali sitting down on his punches or has he turned into a giant Sam Soliman?

I'm not talking about winning or losing.

I'm not talking about winning or losing. Stylistically speaking, he matches well with aggressive pressure fighters. Counterpunchers, not so much.

Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
I think counter punchers are at a disadvantage versus either Klitschko....you let a Klitschko lead and it's going to be a long night because they WILL land meaningful punches and counter punching is all about avoiding those punishing blows....just my view of it.
-

Of course.
But if you are worth your salt as a counterpuncher, you don't LET someone lead. You MAKE them lead. That's why I want someone who's out of elementary school boxing-wise, unlike Johnson.
-
Re: *SPOILERS* Live Vitali-Kevin Johnson Discussion
OK, the main issue I have with Johnson and him being a pure "counter puncher" is that to be a counter puncher your best punch cannot be the jab. If your best punch is the jab then you MUST lead. However you should jab and then bait your opponent for a counter and then counter that....snap a jab out, drop your lead hand, wait for the right cross, roll with the punch and counter (overhand right/right uppercut) and repeat as long as successful.
At least it seems like Kevin Johnson is durable or has good defense, too bad he was just tryng to last 12

I agreed IMO ma fighter with the best chance is one that has good head movement can take shots and set a high pace...Neither Klitschko like a fast pace....
Mostly Wlad I think that would be the advantage because his stamina has always been questionable...It has improved but really how much since noone has been able to really test it by pushing him 12 rds....
Vitaly I think head movement is very important
But it is easier said then done though
