Mega fight to put the flys/lt flys and "litte guys" (hate that term) on the map...1st million dollar payday to fighter in that range and among other things 1st time class featured as main event on PPV card
not to mention one of the best fights and classic endings in last 20 years easily :fight:

Jack Johnson KOs Jim Jeffries in what was one of the most defining fights in the history of boxing. The Burns fight may have made Johnson the first black HW champ, but it was this fight that really defined him as Jeffries had never been down & was a heavy favourite. It marked a key moment in terms of the US' racial history, and had a massive ripple effect on boxing over the next 30 years up until the emergence of Joe Louis.

This picture says so much. The way Johnson stands over him really defines his character. He's relaxed, but assured in his own superiority. Jeffries who was considered by some the toughest HW champion in history, looking forlornly at the referee out of shot is amazing. Jeffries had been very vocal about the superiority of the white race, and his expression could be seen to show his painful discovery how wrong his bigotry was.
