Re: Schaefer: Mosley-Floyd in the Works
If Mosley's more well known its definitely never translated into any sort of drawing power, I would say that Pacquaio's the bigger name now. You hear Mosley's name about once per every twenty times (at best) you hear something about Pacquaio on mainstream media.
Edit: I have no idea who's more well known actually, Pacquaio is certainly a bigger star.

You are absolutely correct that Pacquiao makes more money and is the bigger draw, BUT, there are a lot more people that "used" to watch boxing and don't even remotely follow the sport anymore.

Mosley vs Floyd is the big 1. Cant wait
I understand that
you would rather see Mayweather - Mosley, but the general public, casual, and dedicated boxing fans would all rather see see Mayweather - Pacquaio and nothing you've said provides any evidence to the contrary. Mosley just isn't as well known as Pacquiao and there's much more demand for Mayweather - Pacquiao.
Mosley not as well known as Pacquiao? Hmmm..Gotta disagree with you. I think more people would buy a Pac/Mayweather fight because its #1 vs. #2. But in terms of sheer popularity alone I'd have to say Mosley is a bigger household name than Pacquiao. Remember Mosley was the biggest name right under Oscar for a while.
I may be wrong but I know many more casual fans (people who dont follow the sport but just buy the big ppvs) knew of Mosley back in his heyday than casual fans know of Pacquiao right now (although both numbers are big). Mosley just took a hit in terms of clout, but I dont think his fame ever took a hit. People looked at him differently after loses & PEDs but they cant just forget him.
In my opinion Mosley is even a bigger household name than Mayweather. Mayweather is the bigger draw because of his stature in the sport compared to Shane's, but i'd wager that more people know the name Sugar Shane Mosley over Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The casual fans know Shane more than Pacquiao? Are you talking about the casual American fan or just the casual fan (which would mean any racial and ethnic group)?
I made a post here awhile back talking about how massively popular Pacquiao was in Asia when I vacation there during December. Tokyo and Hong Kong are the 2 most advanced and globalized cities of the far east and he was well known on the streets there to the average Joe. Those were 2 cities I was in. I seriously doubt the average Chinese or Japanese or any other Asian group would know who Shane Mosley was. And add to the fact that Pacquiao has fought many Latino fighters from Mexicans, Dominican, and Puerto Ricans where boxing is popular in those countries and I say those people would more than likely know who he is.
On an American level maybe Shane is more well known, but on a global level it's not even close.

I believe it when the contract is signed

In the UK Shane is quite unknown to the casual fan. I force boxing talk on every poor fucker I meet lol and I think maybe 2-3 people have known who he was. Everyone in the UK knows Ricky and they know it was Pac who flattened him in 2 rounds. Along with the Cotto, De la Hoya wins I think it may be the same over the pond?
Re: Schaefer: Mosley-Floyd in the Works
If this comes off I think it will be Mosley's last fight. I don't see him beating Floyd and Floyd will IMO put on a great show and punish Mosley throughout. I just can't see Mosley winning this. 10 years younger then yes i'd have given him a chance (although Mayweather would still be favourite for me), but now I think people are reading too much into what he did to Margarito and are forgetting the struggle he had with Mayorga who Oscar blew away with ease just before he got beaten off Floyd.
I hope I am wrong and this is more of a contest because Mosley used to be one of my favourites before he was found to be cheating and a great war involving Mayweather would tell us a lot about just how great he is in comparison to the old timers, I just don't see it.
