Re: Calzaghe admits to cocaine use
Quite a sad state of affair actually and I hope that this bad habit won't drive him to the pitch of hell like so many other peoples who tried to be stronger than cocaine before.

I kinda agree with you, especially the part about the kids - Just confirms what I already knew about him. That he's an arrogant, insecure, jealous cunt. Although most of what he said was true, it eats him alive that he never had the popularity of the stars he talks shit about. That's the real issue for him.
BUT even though it is Joe Calzaghe and I hate his guts ;D, I have to also reluctantly agree with the people that say it is his business what he does.
Also Yup, the list of celebs that don't do drugs is obviously shorter than the list of those who do (Kinda like boxers who don't do PEDS is shorter than those who do - Whoops :-X)
My favourite part about all this?
Now that Calzaghe is such a crack-whore, when he goes broke and needs to feed his addiction I can finally see him come back and lose that bullshit, treasured undefeated record of his to a journeyman ;D WIN!!!

Jesus christ mate lighten up!!
How the hell does it make you suspicious about his fights? He does a bit of coke now and then big fucking deal, did anyone see the similar thing that happened with the Rugby player dallaglio few years back? Where he was bigging himself up as some class A conseur, this seems a similar thing Calzaghe just trying to come acorss as some guy " who is down with the kids " sort of image, a bloke who probably does the odd line when out with his mates, half the showbiz world is at it and wouldn't be suprised half the boxing world is at it as well.
For me just shows what a cunt of a culture we are in right now when the NOTW goes out of the way to do something like that Calzaghe. NOTW can go fuck themselves for me.

Re: Calzaghe admits to cocaine use
Amazing how some are trying to brush this off like it's ok just because Calzaghe is retired.
So when he is retired that means he no longer has to keep himself in good health and it's just fine to do cocaine? Because he is retired. So because he can no longer entertain you you could care what he does with his life or if he messes it up? hmm.. I see
Sugar Ray Leonard did cocaine when he was retired too, didn't turn out too well for him either.
Expect Calzaghe to make a comeback story in another year :p

Ok Cocaine is an Illegal drug, he is wrong for doing an Illegal drug in the eyes of the Law, but why the hell do some people automatically think that it is a problem? ( When I say problem the way I am reading through this half of you think he is gonna be 7 stone skeleton pawning his belts in the next 12 months! )
I have dabbled in coke plenty in past years some of my mates still do and I have no problem with that they all lead normal life's just cos Calzaghe has a bit of sniff doesn't automatically mean he is some fucking junkie who doesn't no when to stop.

No, the people who are brushing it off basically don't care what another man does in his private life. It's Calzaghe's life, and how he wants to live it. If he wants to coke up and fuk whores, that's his business, not yours or mine.
You always have nosy motherfukkers getting into another man's private business when it doesn't concern him.

Cocaine is healthy for you , as long as you take it regurly and don't miss a dose. I'm not a doc but just saying what my dealer tells me ;D

Re: Calzaghe admits to cocaine use
lol ICB... since when was Coke a PED? It amps your heart rate up to stupid levels (if he was on it during a fight he'd be fucked after a round or two) and over time it hardens your arteries...
If it was in his system long term or during a fight then the last thing it would do is cast suspicion on his fights. Unless you're saying - 'because he's willing to do coke he must be willing to take PEDs'... but that is equally ludicrous... he's been beasted since a young age... one look at his physique and you can tell he didn't use gear... he's not exactly going to be appearing on the cover of men's health anytime soon.

If someone is doing cocaine or drugs like that if it becomes an addiction(not saying it will) then people should get involved sooner. If your friend was on cocaine would you not do anything cause its his private life?

I see where you are coming from and I partly agree. If Calzaghe is really incontrol of the situation and not going mad then I don't see the problem. But a growing coke habit is not healthy. It will burn through his wallet and leave him in a mess mentally. I guess it all depends on how much mental fortitude Calzaghe really has. Maybe he uses a little on a night out or maybe it's a constant in his life. Who knows? But I do hope he doesn't start to fuck himself up like a lot of others. Excessive coke use can be destructive.

Exactly. People should be allowed to live their lives the way they see fit, within reason. Someone who occasionally uses cocaine isn't hurting anyone but themselves (in a very minor way at that), who gives a flying fuck?

I know that question isn't directed at me, but I have friends who occasionally do hard drugs like cocaine and I have no problem with it at all. They're responsible adults and they can choose to act the way they see fit (again, within reason). If one of them because a heavy user or an addict, of course I would be concerned, but until then (and I doubt it ever happens) it's fine by me. It's no different than any who occasionally drinks heavily, like myself, and I'd wager it's probably on par in regards to the physical damage it causes.

What I will say to that is, that there is a reason cocaine is illegal and drinking isn't.

Yep, because the powers that be haven't realized just how vastly profitable cocaine is yet or they haven't bridged the gap of working out how to market it. One day they will & it will be legal.

Corporate politics and international relations? That doesn't address the real point here anyways. I'm sure Calzaghe, like myself, you, and everyone else has done plenty of illegal things in his life. As long as those things don't hurt anyone else, they shouldn't be used to smear his name.

And what's your point?
Tobacco is legal in every country and studies have been done that shows how addictive the nicotine in tobacco is. In fact there was a study done years ago that came to the conclusion that nicotine was even more addictive than cocaine and heroin and that the relapse rate was higher than both of those illegal drugs.
-
Re: Calzaghe admits to cocaine use
How sad. I've gone from not really liking Calzaghe as a fighter to now feeling sorry for him. But none of this should take away from his accomplishments inside the ring, whether I liked his style or not.

Re: Calzaghe admits to cocaine use
Fuck man I wish Calzaghe would have known this fuck was a reporter when he had him in a room alone, could have beat the shit out of him. Or at least slapped him, it's what he seems to do. Undercover Celebrity Tabloid Writer is the most bullshit job title of all time. How the hell did he not know when the dumb fuck said he paid 250% more for a gram then he did, probably read it on a DARE pamphlet. What a fucking moron, Calzaghe didn't admit to cocaine use he was duped into talking about it with some fake fuckhead.

Re: Calzaghe admits to cocaine use
What i found the funniest was the so called ATG unbeaten boxing great , was featured on the front page of the News Of The World under this headline.
" Simply Star admits drug sessions " ( this is in reference to a reality dance show apparently )
So he is that famous a boxer in Britain this was the headline , lol

Re: Calzaghe admits to cocaine use
The British gutter press in all its glory. Sure, I'm disappointed that a sporting idol I've followed all my adult life has sunk to the level of appearing on reality tv shows and publicly dumping a long term girlfriend for a bit of fluff. I'd also rather that drugs such as cocaine were wiped off the face of the planet ("dabbling in sniff doesn't harm anyone"? - the drug trade kills thousands across the globe each year in gang fights and misuse) but hey I'm not gonna waste my breath preaching to retards. However, I do feel sorry for Calzaghe, all this highlights is that he needs to grow up a bit. How ironic that despite his sporting achievements this is the first time he's made the front page of a national newspaper. Says it all about this hype em up and knock em down obsession the media has with our celebrities.
I've heard gossip of Calzaghe using coke in Cardiff on a night out for atleast 5 years so this isn't a new development unfortunately. Drugs and lack of morals have been around for centuries, it's a shame they're both becoming more widespread but I wouldn't go as far as saying JC was a bad person. Not at all. Oh and one more thing - Joe is as knowledgable about boxing as any of us here. He was clearly joking/being sarchastic about Hatton being knocked out by a 'nobody' so please don't hold that against him.

I think the fact that it's his first headline and he is billed as "strictly star" says more about the sorry state of the general public than it does Joe Calazaghe.

Re: Calzaghe admits to cocaine use
I could care less if the former champ snorts the sun out of the sky but badmouthing other boxers is out. It's not new but he did it as though he was saying so what, I've got mine and screw everyone else. This isn't the first time he's said derogatory things about boxers and boxing itself. I love the sport and I thought he had a great career but come on, being a hypocrite shouldn't be part of the deal.
