What about the day before yesterday because Hatton wasn't bad then, you know. Hatton deserves his knocks for how he has handled his career and I can see clearly why his estimation has gone down in the eyes of many, but stick the Hatton that faced Tszyu in there with a still green Oscar at 140 and you have a hell of a fight.Quote:

Miles if Vargas was the Victor Ortiz of his time then Victor Ortiz wouldn't have lost to Marcos Maidana but Pacquiao instead. Vargas had only been beaten by Trinidad and that was a fiercely fought fight that he could have won. Vargas was a very feared fighter who was a zillion times more proven then Ortiz. Don't become a victim of revisionist history. Plenty of people picked Vargas in that fight, De La Hoya had the two losses to Trinidad and Mosley and after the Mosley loss had some inactivity and had only faced the lightly regarded pair of Gatti and Castillejo since. This was a big fight and there were just as many questions lingering around De La Hoya as there was Vargas. Lampley wouldn't cry when De La Hoya KO'd Victor Ortiz.
Why are we comparing Vargas, Hatton never fought at light middle. Hatton was a top fighter at 140lb and Oscar really peaked at 147lb. So Hatton would win as he was more seasoned fighter.
Yeah exactly. Don't get me wrong i loved Hatton and he was the reason i joined the forum 5 years ago, but he had his limitations. People go on about Khan being protected, but Warren did an absolute dynamite job of keeping Hatton away from anyone who had the style to trouble him. As soon as Hatton left Warren, he went in with 3 guys who could put punches together, and he looked pretty bad in all 3. Granted 2 were Pacquiao and Mayweather, but like you said he was badly knocked out in both. Against Collazo he was a whisker away from being knocked out. It's not so much the power of a single shot (although that did it for Pac), it's the fact that he can't react to more than one punch at a time. Lazcano even troubled him, because he threw combinations. He can't react to that style and somebody as good as Oscar would murder him.Quote:

Unless it was a pie eating competition or a game of darts I'd side heavily in favor of De la Hoya beating the crap out of Ricky.
It's not that Ricky Hatton was a bum or anything, but as has been mentioned before he never stepped it up until late in his career and even then he never came close to fighting the quality of opponents that Oscar fought.
Ricky Hatton vs Miguel Cotto at 140 or 147 or somewhere inbetween would have been one hell of a scrap and in a purely hypothetical bout Ricky Hatton vs Carmen Basilio would have been AWESOME.....but I still think Ricky gets beat in both of those.
Ricky Hatton vs Gatti, Ward, Augustus would have been just incredible fan friendly fights and Ricky would have to be the favorite in all of those matches. Ricky vs Zab would have been interesting as well.
