I dunno I think Maidana's hopes of beating Froch might be a bit slim, what with the 28lbs+ weight difference ;D
'must be a typo error. "Froch"? wtf :-\
Maidana having an "Arthur Abraham chance in beating Froch" = Puncher's chance

I'm looking forward to this one.

Met Khan, he is actually a nice guy in person. They believe they can out box Maidana, I don't think they would have taken the fight this early in their partnership if they weren't confident. Khan will never fight pacquiao, too close. I don't think anyone is afraid of alexander after kotelnik. I don't think bradley is someone khan avoids either. I think they would like to get rios one day as well.

Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
This is a good win for whoever wins.
I am picking Khan but not by much. Maidana will trouble Khan but I dont think he can K.O Khan.

Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
well of course pacquiao fans think anybody can beat marquez. here's what they do, they like to say marquez is old, slow etc...to justify why pacquiao shouldn't fight him anymore. why? because pacquiao was exposed twice already by a master counter puncher. and since mayweather is the master counter puncher of all counter punchers, he'll easily defeat a poor defensive fighter in pacquiao. simple as that!

GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Great Nights action this weekend
Attachment 1856
Sky Box Office HD will show eight live title fights in one night, including Amir Khan's Las Vegas debut, on Saturday, December 11.
The marathon event, called GR8 Britain vs The World, features world, European, Commonwealth and British title fights in a nine-hour broadcast from the UK, Germany and the USA............
World champion Khan, heavyweight challenger Dereck Chisora and the rest of British boxing's bright young things will light up Sky Box Office HD's biggest line-up to date.
Khan will top the bill as he defends his world light-welterweight title against hard-hitting mandatory challener, Marcos Maidana of Argentina, at the Mandalay Bay.
Before that, heavyweight hope Chisora gets his crack at a Klitschko as he takes on WBO and IBF champion Wladimir in front of a huge crowd in Mannheim, Germany - in what will be only his 15th professional fight.
In Liverpool Welsh wizard Nathan Cleverly takes on Spain's Alejandro Lakatos in an eliminator for the WBO light-heavyweight title, knowing a win will guarantee him his own shot at a world crown.
Behind Cleverly is an all-British affair as Olympic golden boy James DeGale goes into the lion's den and challenges British super-middleweight champion, Paul Smith. With George Groves waiting for the winner, DeGale can't afford to lose.
European light-middlweight king Matthew Macklin puts his belt on the line against another Spaniard, Ruben Varon, while another of our world-title hopefuls, Kell Brook, takes on wily American Michael Clark with the WBO Inter-Continental welterweight title at stake.
There will be a total of eight fights on one marathon night as, from the glitz of the Las Vegas Strip to the sheer size of a Klitschko fight in Germany, Britain's great eight take on the boxing world.
Sky Sports boxing commentator Jim Watt said: "This is a great night of boxing to look forward to with titles being contested in three different countries, Amir Khan making his Vegas debut and Dereck Chisora challenging for the world heavyweight crown.
"After the success of the first Magnificent Seven bill in September this is also a great chance to see some of the fantastic British boxing talent that we have, on home soil, with the likes of Nathan Cleverly, James DeGale, Kell Brook and Matthew Macklin who all impressed so much last time out."

Has Paul Smith "smiggers" amounted to anything in u.k. yet? I forgot who won that contender, but remember him getting lucky against David Banks.

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
British Champion at Super Middle.
Anyone giving "DEL BOY" Chisora a punchers chance with Wlad?
I am ;)
Some great matchups for the weekend, Think Degale is in deep water and we'll see what he's all about Sat.
Looking forward to Kel Brook and the Cleverly fights as well.
Anyone know the Khan debut undercard please?

Victor Ortiz is fighting Lamont Peterson. That's the only undercard fight I can remember off the top of my head

Surely Devon Alexander is more over-rated? I mean people on here have him on their p4p lists (sorry Jaz) ;D
How the hell is Devon Alexander on any P4P lists ? he got outboxed Andriy Kotelnik. And his best win is over a shot Junior Witter. He's nowhere close to any P4P lists.
As for this fight i agree with pretty much everyone else, Amir Khan is the favorite. But it's good to finally see him in with a puncher, its a step in the right direction for certain.

Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
I'am really hoping Khan gets beat would love to see him get a beating for 11 rounds then ko'ed but i very much doubt that will happen ;D
-
Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
All credit should be given to Khan if he gets by Maidana. I have never been a fan of Khan but have given him his due for even taking this fight. And I for sure won't discredit him for this victory if he gets it. So Bilbo and Ono, you don't have to worry about me discrediting him.;D
But I can't say the same for his other detractors, I'm thinking they'll say that Maidana was crap and Khan should have fought Bradley or Alexander in the 1st place.
-
Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
Same here. 'Gotta give Khan a big big respect for taking this fight. If he takes a good one right in the chin and manage to shake it off while winning all rounds, I'll ditch Pac for him. I'd be Khan's biggest nuthugger. ;D
This is not a cakewalk fight for both of them. Khan defo has better corner/crew though. That's why I'm leaning a little towards him. And I'm sensing Roach will be the BWAA coach of the year again. That'd be 5th for him.

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Tony Bellew is fighting Ovill McKenzie, apart from DEGale-Smith that's the best fight of the night. In fact they are a bunch of shit gimmes apart from those two fights.
-
Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
why is khan getting so much love for agreeing to fight maidana? he's supposed to fight these top fighters! he's a friggin' champion for christ sakes! he's finally facing a legitimately dangerous top ten fighter in maidana.
frankly, i think khan will probably outpoint maidana because of his speed but maidana will always be dangerous with that power.
-
Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
Khan has already beat two legitimate top ten fighters - Kotelnik and Powderpuff.
-
Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
yeah, and both of these guys couldn't dent a pillow with their soft feathery punches. i'm talking about a top 10 jr. welter with legitimate power as dangerous as maidana!

I think that if (when) Khan beats Maidana most people will simply acknowledge the truth, that he's a one-dimensional slugger with average boxing skills and a big punch. Khan is simply a better fighter in nearly all aspects of the game, the only concern is his chin. I expect him to stop Maidana.
For what it's worth, I think Ortiz would have been a much sterner test for Khan, even though he lost to Maidana.
-
Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
Im going with Khan UD
but Maidana have all 36 mins to land a big one that could decide the fight. Khan's chin is quite a baby againts a puncher of Maidana's caliber.
-
Re: Khan v Maidana - - - is this a 50/50 fight..?
i'll be rooting for maidana but i think amir khan takes this by decision. he's improved lots with freddie roach as his trainer.

Can Khan stay away from these punches all night..?
If he can and comes out on top then i'll be very impressed

Once again Manny Steward is promising a "more aggressive Wladimir"....which IMO should be the case from here on out as he's hands down the best BOXER and heaviest hitter of the division (bar Vitali) so there's no reason we shouldn't expect to see Wlad come out guns a blazin' like old times.
If Chisora lasts 3 I'd be surprised, if he lasts 5 I'll be disappointed (if Wlad has him going and doesn't finish him off)....Chisora COULD just have a solid chin or a stubborn corner that allow him to continue after amassing heavy punishment.
I think Khan could really prove himself in this fight.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
So Wlad fights safety first against plodders the whole world knows everything about, and guys he's already shared a ring with, but now he's fighting an unbeaten, unexposed guy he will come out and risk going all guns blazing?
Yeah right...

That agressive all guns blazing Wlad is bollocks.

The heavyweight division is on the brink of a new reality....a reality where a loss vs Wlad doesn't come from 100+ jabs but from shocking power and handspeed. They had hoped to show off vs Sam Peter but Sam's chin was very strong and he was well prepared for the fight vs Chisora the fight SHOULD be over in a round maybe 2 and in dramatic fashion.
You can't sit there and tell me Wlad isn't throwing more power punches or isn't throwing them soon enough in the fight, in the Peter fight he did very well. He won't stand and trade that would be stupid but he will pour on the offense, you can bet on that.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Sam Peter's speed and movement makes Chisora look like Ali. It took Wlad 10 rounds to finish him. Chambers, Chagaev, Thompson and everyone else Wlad has fought for years, he prodded away before they finally wilted.
Maybe Chisora is completely out of his depth. But i'd be surprised if Wlad all of a sudden turned over a new leaf. In fact, if Chisora starts agressive I bet that will force Wlad into his shell.
-
He threw power punches early and often vs Sam....there is a mental block with Wlad who I am sure still worries about gassing out like he did vs Purrity and Brewster, but right now he has a great jab, solid defense, and a mental understanding of how to delay action and gather himself. Wlad is going to be more attack oriented just because that's the only part of his game he needs to improve. The Sam Peter rematch was but the first step in redefining his style and you could see early on he fought differently as he threw right crosses and left hooks early and frequently....not everyone has Sam Peter's chin.
-
I think Chisora is going to get an absolute anal raping from Klitschko. It's going to be brutal. I will of course be rooting for Del Boy throughout, but he is so under prepared for this fight it's unbelievable. His only chance is one big shot, but I honestly don't think ten of his big shots could do it.
I think anyone who thinks Khan is in for an easy ride is having a laugh. If it goes twelve rounds, it is going to be a long hard night for him. I think he has the skills to win, but I'm such a fan of Maidana I still can't split them. Khan getting KO'd would not suprise me in the slightest.
As for the Mag 7, well it's mostly a joke bar Smith/ De Gale, a fight DeGale will start to make people take notice.
I bet there must be some nice multiple bets for sat night going on.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
I don't even think Chisora's power seems that good really. He's getting destroyed in this fight no question. The only real issue is just how long he lasts. I've also got a nice bet on Maidana to KO Khan in rounds 1-3. It'll be worth the PPV if he does. Khan will probably take a UD, but I doubt Khan can keep away for the full 12. At least I hope he gets caught ;D Besides winning my bet it would just be priceless seeing him get sparked again
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
I have a funny feeling that Khan will get off the canvas and win.
But my head says that if Khan gets hurt, Maidana will get him out of there.
Does anyone know what of the German and Vegas undercards will be shown?
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
I dont think Chisora has big power and if he fights like he does then hes fucked. I think he does have good movement though and trying to find positives for him, I think that could give Klitschko trouble.
