Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
I think one aspect that also helped Vera, was his shots affected Mora. Mora's shot where like a mosquito to Vera, he only ever hurt him with body shots. Stepping back and acknowledging you just got hit good is never good to make your case. Mora had the cleaner shots, they just werent effective.

Yep.
Only time Vera was hurt was with those body shots in the 9th I believe.
Vera def hurt Mora a couple of times with those clean left hooks. And he outworked Mora big time in the first 3/4 of the fight. Mora only won like 2 rounds thru the first 8, maybe 3, add in him winning the last two rounds, and he gets a 96-94 loss or a 95-95 draw.
And first thing I noticed was that ring was super small.
Hooray for Vera !

Good point....Though IMO Mora gave the fight away...Too much clowning and shit...Smiling after being caught with a solid shot...Talking to the ESPN crew etc....More never looked like he wanted to win the fight though he did act like he would win :-\......Mora is a better fighter then Vera....This was a fight he should have taken more seriously due to nthe doubts on him already and how it will effect his future...
Exactly why I hate him....I just hope one day he gets knocked spark out
I don't hate him, but it is annoying. Mora, of anyone should know you can't take the present fight for granted?!
All in all a good scrap! Vera looks like a mean mean guy with little skill but a solid come forward style that is pleasant to watch.
Mora looks aged, shot, and done. He doesn't have the strength to compete and apparently doesn't have the work ethic either. No doubt they will recycle him near the top for 5-6 fights though.
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
Did you see the pre-fight interview with Mora asking for someone to shut him up about claiming he's one of the best fighters in the world? Ask and you shall recieve. ;D
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
Ok I'm going on the extreme cheap ;D.....Bump
The rematch is going on, 3rd round and Mora is being pushed into corners with ease and unless his sole hope is to rope-a-dope to Vera gasing I think he's being walked on 3-zip so far
I know, its a Mora fight...and its in Tx...but its a thin night of action. They have a rather excited gal with a Grace jones hairdo calling the fight so I'm not complaining
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
Something tells me they better have pics of the judges here...I have it easily 6-1 Vera with Mora landing the occasional flashy one and done but he might as well be hitting Vera with a bag full of bubble wrap
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
Either I'm drunk or this is the 9th round and NOT the 10th as it indicates  Mora closed to the body well last round....oh crap Mora just went down along ropes and nothing ?!
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
Mora looks like he's looking for a second wind and tired early 11th and Vera bulling him hard around. For anything Mora lands sharp Vera lands 4or 5 crude and taxing...Veras corner tells him to go for KO leading to 12th
Ronnie shields tells blow by blow announce team..'we need a ko to win'....actually suprised a corner guy would sell his guy THAT short, or I'm blind ??? I think Vera took it by 4, at least
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
114-114
118- 110
117-111..... Vera wins it and Mora whining and pissing on camera
Ronnie shields needs to check himself and his loyalty too...that was lewd and off base!!
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
I was pissed this wasn't on any channels we have as I am a big Vera fan. The guy is crude but an absolute warrior.
Glad to hear he beat Mora again.
What network broadcast this fight ?
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera

It was Telefutura here bud. Wasn't sure it was live at first, start time of 11 pm but it looked to be. Not a bad bout and I'd def lean to about 117-111 ish. Mora was beside himself in interview and dropped Ronnie Shields name about 5 times. Still blows me away how a guys own corner man can say he essentially lost, fighter didn't do enough etc to commentators before the final bell sounds. It had a funny smell to it.

Yes after I posted this I caught it on the mexican channel. After watching the fight I actually scored it a draw, 6-6. After the fight Brian Vera even said he felt it was a draw.
However, there were sooooooo many fucking close rounds, AND Brian Vera got screwed out of a knockdown when Mora was leaning way down below his waist and was essentially being held up by the ropes as Vera was beating on him.
I gave Mora the benefit of the doubt in a few rounds as I read this was a robbery from Mora and idiot fans on boxingscene.
I could see 115-113 Vera or maybe 116-112 Vera, but I scored it a draw.
Agree 100% about Ronnie Shields though. Does he not want a job anymore !? YOU NEVER SAY THAT SHIT in such a close fight.
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
Just watched the fight. I think a strong case can be made for Mora winning, he landed the cleaner, harder punches and made Vera miss almost all night. However, when you spend all night on the ropes and throw 1/3 of the punches that your opponent does you can't be that surprised if you don't get the win.

Exactly.
And when you act like an arrogant cunt, try to cheap shot people after the bell, on breaks and generally show no class in your opponent's hometown (state) then what do you expect ?
This rematch was very similar to the first match, but slightly closer.
Re: ESPN FNF-Sergio Mora vs Brain Vera
Thats like I watched it. Dude pretty much cheaply slap boxed nice in a few spots..but Vera was constant crude effect. He basically mauled him in first few rounds on ropes and Mora-less thought he was a one shot artist and could play to camera. Best moment was late in 9th to body where Vera was left gawking at him after bell. Mora let Vera dictate.
