Wlads the one that is saying Haye will basically be intimidated by the crowd. Plus having people cheering for you can be huge boost too.
I like how Wlad and Manny have said "We've been a part of many title fights but never have we been asked if our opponent will actually show up"...how's that for "a boost"?

Re: The Official Wlad/Haye Promotion Thread (videos, interviews etc)
BBC Sport - Haye to shock Klitschko with new strategy - Booth
Haye on a 'calm' build up.
Adam Booth also says that David will have a strategy that Wladimir will not have seen before.
My gut feeling is, as soon as that first bell rings, he's going to come charging out like a pitbull. Be interesting to see.

I don't know who's more gullible the WBA title holder or his fans. I can't believe he's buying into his own hype...Manny Steward throws out a grandiose compliment and the guy takes the bait hook line and sinker!
Manny knows Wlad has this fight in the bag EASY, its just a matter of when Wlad wants to end it is all.

Re: The Official Wlad/Haye Promotion Thread (videos, interviews etc)
William Hill have Wladimir at 5/4 by stoppage. So my £50 should return £112.50. Not mega money but it should help contribute to my flight over to Canastota to NOT see David Haye one day be inducted ;D

What you keep failing to see is this is the first heavyweight fight in a long time that has had ANYONE talking about. I don't think it really matters if the result is a foregone conclusion. People are arguing about the heavyweights again for the first time in a long time.
I'm actually working the night of the fight. I'm hoping to have the fight on my lap top while I'm djing.
As I've said before wlad is the favourite going into it and rightly so, and he'll more than likely win. But I'm still very excited for this fight.
-
Oh no doubt Hornfinger its got people excited...I just worry that when all is said and done that the fight will look more like Lewis-Grant than anything good. I hope Wlad gets challenged a bit, if everything is easy for him then he'll continue to not get respect.
That being said I fully expect the idiotic American sports media (namely 'The Sports Reporters' on ESPN specifically Mike 'Commie' Lupica and Mitch 'Elf Ears' Albom') to take shots at both fighters no matter who wins saying shit like "Did anyone know there was a heavyweight fight? Did anyone care? Does anyone know who these guys are?"......that irritates me to no end. American Sports Reporters seemingly uninterested view of boxing (bar Pac-Mayweather) grinds my gears.
-
Re: The Official Wlad/Haye Promotion Thread (videos, interviews etc)
And you know what else grinds my gears? You America!

The last thing anyone wants is this to be a one sided contest. I'm of the opinion that I'll worry about the fall out of the result of the contest after it's happened.

As much as i want to see Klitschko losing, i can't support Haye cuz its now well known that if he wins the title he will retire in October this year and the heavyweight division will be in a worst situation than it is now.

Re: The Official Wlad/Haye Promotion Thread (videos, interviews etc)
Some vids from SkySports that offer Carl Froch's observations (which I thought were excellent) & also some things from both camps that don't seem entirely right.
Froch fully behind Haye | Sky Sports | Video | Boxing
SkySports Video Player (v09) freewheel live
The second of those links has some really good stuff. Early on it's established that Haye has stopped sparring 18 days before the fight, which seems ridiculously early to me, while later on the journalist says how Klitschko & Steward seem to be having some disagreements in camp. It may just be a journalist saying something for the sake of it, but if it is true then that could be a real problem. That part is from 6:10 onwards

I saw that video. He said that Wlad was basically saying he is in charge of his training and not Manny. I doubt it though, what would be the point in hiring one of the greatest trainers that ever lived if you were just going to ignore him? If it was said it will just have been to try and stir things up I think. Don't think Haye will fall for it either!
-
The only "disagreement" Wlad and Manny are having is over when Wlad should KO his opponent. Manny says "I don't see it going past 4" and Wlad says "I want to punish him and knock him out in the 12th round"
Other than that Manny has said nothing but good things about Wlad. He's got to be easy to train because he stays in shape....unlike some other heavyweights.

I hope Haye knocks out Wlad and get some new blood in the HW division.

Why do people keep on saying this bullshit?
If he wins, he's retiring. How the FUCK is that injecting new blood into the division?
That's another reason why I want Wlad to win, he won't win and then fuck off.

Agreed. People think Wladimir is no good for boxing and want to see Haye winning, BUT what they fail to understand is that a win for Haye (who retires immediately after it) is NO new blood, it just destroys any kind of left credibility in the heavyweight division.

Nah if haye gets the titles and then vacates them it then creates a brand new free for all to get the titles rather than two boxers who'll never fight each other holding half each making unification impossible. I see that as a good thing.

Re: The Official Wlad/Haye Promotion Thread (videos, interviews etc)
Other big-punching heavyweights have tried to take the fight right to Wlad ever since Corrie Sanders shocked him inside a couple of rounds in 2003. They have all failed. Haye may be a lot faster than Sam Peter and Ruslan Chagaev, and he may have more power than Eddie Chambers and Chris Byrd, and better boxing ability than Wlad himself but I do not believe he has either the chin Peter and Chagaev or the defensive prowess Byrd and “Fast” Eddie. That will ultimately let him down in this fight. I hope I am wrong btw.

i agree with this shit
if wlad wins what then? lets search the shallow deapths of the heavyweights for another fighter he can jab at
If haye wins we may well get haye v vitali and another big build up and another big fight, and if wlad wins we will have to wait till the klits retire before we get any more HW fun

wlad is bad for the heavyweight division and that is a fact
i (along with millions of other boxing fans) up until haye came along have had the least amount of interest in the division as i have ever had, i dont watch the majority of multibelt HW title fights
yes the competition isnt great but the main reason the HW division is so dull is that the main champion takes abosolutely no risks what so ever in the ring, all his fights are identical and, for the want of a better word, boring
-
Re: The Official Wlad/Haye Promotion Thread (videos, interviews etc)
Haye won't fight Vitali. He doesn't want to because he knows he will be sodomised.

If Wlad wins, at least boxing fans and every other heavyweight know there is ONE WORLD CHAMPION to beat.

If Haye wins, he retires. Fact
If Haye wins, there is no fight with Vitali (who is fighting Adamek in fall). Fact
If Haye wins we will never know who was the true champion at the time, he or Vitali. Fact
If Haye wins and retires, Wladimir may very well come back and dominate the division again. Imagine just HOW bad this division would look then? Worst then now for sure.
...

We will never find out which is the better klitschko anyway since they will never fight. At least if haye wins there may eventually be a chance that someone unites the belts.

Who is that SOMEONE, since Haye has said it himself he is not ??? Explain
If Haye beats Klitschko, after 3 months there will be 3 major world titles vacated with a lot of bums having their chance to win a title.

You see, that's just it. There is no telling who will end up with the belts. It could be Vitali until he retires too. But it will definitely be interesting to see who ends up at the top. Main thing is, something will finally change. I think change is good every so often.
-
You guys falsely assume that vacating the titles all at once means that the sanctioning bodies will allow for 1 fight to decide who gets the all the belts which I HIGHLY doubt happens.
If this was to happen it would be best for boxing in general to have a tournament to crown the true champ. 1 fight for the WBA (Povetkin-Chagaev as planned), 1 for the IBF, 1 for the WBO, Vitali defends the WBC vs Adamek.
....But since Wlad's going to win we won't have to worry about that

I don't always find myself agreeing with you Lyle, but on the first part of your point I definitely do. There's no way that vacating all the belts will lead to one fight for ownership of all four straps, they'd all have their own little fiefdoms with their own 1/4 champion.
As for Wlad winning...we'll see.

I'm sorry but this must have been the way Calzaghe fans felt about Jeff Lacy. You look at the level of competition, time in the division, skill set, and quality of opponents and its plain as day.
Sure they actually have to fight, but I fail to see 1 area where Wlad is at a disadvantage...MAYBE hand speed, but its not like Wlad is slow (which is what people falsely assume)....he's methodical in picking his punches, but he's got quick hands.
-
Re: The Official Wlad/Haye Promotion Thread (videos, interviews etc)
Just watched Wlad fight Byrd and whilst I was (as usual) disappointed with how cautious he was against a smaller none puncher, I was actually quite impressed with the speed that he was able to shoot his one two down the pipe. He is slower than Haye but he is not slow for a big guy by any means. Pretty damn accurate too... just fairly limited with his angles.
I think Haye can pull off the upset... but it will be just that - an upset because as boring as Wlad is this is still a monumental task for Haye.
You'd expect that Wlad would beat a smaller, less experienced fighter very quickly, but we know this isn't always the case.

Maybe Handspeed?? Definitely!
Foot work too, Haye is far more mobile and has much more athleticism. Yes Wlad is athletic for a big guy but nowhere near as athletic as Haye. I personally think Punch power is very close and both mens chins are weak so I don't give either an advantage in either of those categories.
Wlad has the advantage in height, reach and experience!

Sensible post that.
