Of course I want to see him fight again. IMO he is the most talented BOXER alive today!

Agreed!

Re: Would you care if Mayweather Jr. never fought again or retired?
I feel pretty ambivalent about Mayweather.
On one hand, he's a fantastic boxer - skill-wise he is among the all time greatest - and I think he adds a lot to the sport. On the other hand, I feel like he has largely squandered his legacy over the last couple of years to the point where he will be one of those fighters we look back at and say 'what if...?'.

Unless he mans up and quits ducking Pacquiao he'll not only be remembered as a "'what if...?'", but I would imagine he would be unpopular with fans, viewed with contempt, and booed if he showed up at boxing events.
As for him adding to the sport of boxing, there's no doubt he does generate interest and has his share of fans, but I ain't one of them, i'd rather watch FNF than one of Mayweather's PPV snoozers.

LOL I've tried beating that drum here in the past....
Unfortunately the use of "could" care less is too ingrained in the American culture for either of us to have any impact..

I don't know if it's true, but I just read that Mayweather is getting $40 mil to fight Ortiz in September, so someone must love this gutless sack of shit, it sure as hell ain't me, I wouldn't pay 10 cents to see one of this clown's PPVs.
It seems Mayweather is guaranteeing himself $40m, since the fight is being promoted by Mayweather Promotions and GBP. I do not read anywhere that HBO or Showtime is picking up the tab. They might be staging their own PPV. I don't think they can generate enough revenue to pay Ortiz a decent purse. Correct me if I am wrong.:)

Hmmmm, interesting, I guess we shall see, without HBO or Showtime promoting the fight, I don't see how FBF-Ortiz would generate enough PPV buys to cover Mayweather's alleged $40 million guarantee. It would seem like the PPV would need 1 million + buys just to break even, and I don't see this fight generating that kind of interest, especially if it's not promoted by HBO.

I stand corrected. I just saw on HBO PPV Schedule that they have the fight posted for September 17. But still I find it hard to believe that a guarantee of $40m is feasible.

Re: Would you care if Mayweather Jr. never fought again or retired?
I wish he would retire. Who needs fighters like this? Is he a role model? hell 'fuckin' no!
Everyone knows what a piece of shit he is, and what a disgrace to boxing this so called P4P fighter is. He has handpicked opponents for years, and now denies us the biggest fight in boxing today? does he care about legacy? no.
BTW....Castillo beat floyds ass in that first fight. so yes, he did lose a fight.
-
Re: Would you care if Mayweather Jr. never fought again or retired?
Fighters have the right to retire whenever they want. It is them who are putting their lives on the line each and everytime they step through those ropes. I wouldnt mind at all if Floyd retires, id actually commend him. Many fighters turn broke when they retire and nobody gives a shit about them. Take Gerald McClellan for example. Only person who's helped him consistantly is Roy Jones while everyone else turned their back on him. Fighters have to look out for their own interest because no one else will ... Shit, Floyd is a multi-millionaire with a resume that most fighters can only dream of having, so if he wants to bow out now, good for him.. People knock on his lack of competition, talking about legacy etc..... let's wake up and live in the real world.. Financial gain and good health is more important than legacy to most people.. and besides, there is nothing wrong with Floyd's legacy.. He's an overachiever..

Re: Would you care if Mayweather Jr. never fought again or retired?
I kinda hate this poll. There's no fight I want more than a Paquiao-Mayweather. Voting "no" to this poll is like saying that floyd have nothing more to give to the boxing world. But in the other hand, voting "yes" because I "love" Mayweather?

Fair enough, I just find it mind-boggling that you can have so much hate for someone who really does nothing than occasionally take part in a sport you like.

Re: Would you care if Mayweather Jr. never fought again or retired?
Fightfan the first fight could of gone either way and Mayweather won the rematch clearly. I mean if want to reverse close fights and change history go ahead if it makes you feel better. Fact is Mayweather is is 5 divsion champion was lineal in 3 of those division and has 41 wins no loses i mean shit. Mars guys just out of his mind when it comes to Mayweather i mean i not huge fan dude but fuck lol.

There's really nothing mind boggling about it, I've just never have cared for Mayweather Jr. or his family of crackheads, to me they're just piss-ants. No offense, but if that upsets or confuses you, then I suggest you don't read my threads/posts.
For what it's worth, I usually try to stay away from threads about Mayweather, but from time to time, I toss in my 2 cents, like I did when I started this thread.

I may be crazy, but I seem to have a lot of people who agree with me, boxing would do just fine, and be better off without Mayweather Jr.

A legend would have downed Mosley, and signed straight up for Martinez.... Unless he grows some balls to go along with the skills, there is no point at all in boxing have his name listed as an active fighter....
Retire and be done with it.... I couldN'T care less about what he does from this point on.
Spot on, last meaningful fight was with Hatton, after that he doesnt want to risk himself anymore !
He'll never fight Pac, too scared. May as well retire now, thats the only fight we want to see him in.
What are your guys excuses for Pac then? The above references switch Floyd out with Pac. I'm curious.....Did Pac "Downed" Mosley? What's the excuse?

No, only the obsessed Pac fans like yourself. That make an excuse that will in every way benefit Pac. Yet if Pac fought Ortiz you would be saying that Floyd was scared of Ortiz.... Pac fights left overs. Your just another obsessed fan boy. I could care less about Floyd fighting Ortiz.. but how else will Manny have another opponent lined up right after Floyd wins? Then they will say that they offered Floyd 400 million right before Pac and Ortiz ink the contract.
You can call me what you want but I thought you had awesome points in so many posts but your true Pac fan boy obsession is coming out.... I make posts because Pac avoids drug test... Who cares about Floyd, Floyd can eat shittt. You make posts about Floyd because all Pac boys including Arum and Roach and posters like you are that insecure that you have to keep creating the lie to believe it. Pac fights leftovers.... did you enjoy spending your last 50 posts talking about Floyd?
Floyd fans don't deny Manny his glory but they do call B.S. on ducking a drug test. Pac fans like you obsess! You think I have a problem with Pac....lol You might have set the record for typing the word Floyd Mayweather in Saddo and you been here a month.. How do Pactards... (Not Pac Fans) even sleep at night? OH WAIT THEY DON'T.... THEY COME TO SADDO TO MAKE A THREAD ABOUT FLOYD...
Its like making a Thread about Floyd and having other Pactards (Not PAc Fans) agree with you is your thearpy... I'm sure a shrink in your area could help....

99% of this post is brilliant. The bold is completely wrong. Floyd is an underachiever. He has top ten all-time tools and a top 50 or so resume.

Jheeez, put your tampon back on ;D
Tbh, you seem like a decent enough poster, but you seem to lose it over Mayweather in a manner that makes you look like a poster of mafiajoey quality. I can understand not caring for him or not liking him, but the full-on hate you seem to have is more akin to how I'd expect someone to feel about Osama Bin Laden. I've never understood how anyone can feel that way about an athlete. Maybe someone like Roethlisberger or Dave Hilton Jr, but that's more about what they've done that is sick.
Like I said, it just seems weird to me that someone who at the end of the day is just a boxer, who very occasionally fights someone. I mean you can very easily avoid seeing him fight or reading about him.

Re: Would you care if Mayweather Jr. never fought again or retired?
I don't like Mayweather, he is an arse and he has too much dodgy history for me to ever respect him as a person, but he is a quality fighter. Yet even as a great fighter, I question some of his opponents and his commitment to the cause of proving his greatness.
Mayweather is clearly not on the moral level of Bin Laden or George Bush Jr. Actually, when compared to those types he is more like Mother Theresa. Though he is perhaps not the kind of person you would ask young people to copy or aspire to be like on a personal level.
In conclusion a fine if sometimes dull boxer and a habitual twat.

I also don't give him a pass on what he does in his personal life, but if I hated every fighter who'd ever hit a woman, I'd be unable to like damn near any fighter. I simply take on what I see in the ring. Mayweather is prima donna of the highest order, but he's also not the worst guy ever.
I take it you feel the same about Hagler, Holyfield, Joe Louis, Frazier, Robinson & Ray Leonard then? ;)
You're right, I'm truly obsessed with Mayweather, hence me starting this thread about hi... oh right that was you :p
You're just like mafiajoey accusing everyone of being a Pactard, so nice job of proving my point. I simply don't get how a grown man can hate some athlete. I mean I like boxing, but I don't invest with any fighters other than those I know personally.

I wouldn't call it "hate", in Mayweathers case, it's more like disdain/disgust, for a boxer/athlete who has shown a criminal pattern of domestic violence and/or has been arrested multiple times for abusing/battering women and children.
Now, please feel free to carry on this discussion without me, frankly it bores me.

Hey you are getting mixed up..... Mars_Ax is now showing his "Pactard" ways... obsessing over Floyd.
And Mars wants to put Floyd in the category of the animal killers and murders yet Floyd hasn't been convicted!!! Nice double standard.... So we want Pac to take a test and its to much to ask? But Floyd hasn't had a trial and he's a woman beater...lol Pactards are ridiculous... (And over anxious to ban me forum mods.... Pactard is not a reference to a Pac fan..Its someone who obsesses with Floyd) So it's ok to cheat on your wife right? lol Or Pac gets a pass? Do you know the details in the Mayweather trial? Were you at the house? Or you just past judgement cause your guy won't take a test...
Let me remind Mars of 2 things....
1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Ot7...el_video_title
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQlay...layer_embedded
Mars Post something useful...like how your boy Pac beat Mosley so bad

But Floyd hasn't had a trial and he's a woman beater...lol Pactards are ridiculous... (And over anxious to ban me forum mods.... Pactard is not a reference to a Pac fan..Its someone who obsesses with Floyd) So it's ok to cheat on your wife right? lol Or Pac gets a pass? Do you know the details in the Mayweather trial? Were you at the house? Or you just past judgement cause your guy won't take a test...
Mars Post something useful...like how your boy Pac beat Mosley so bad
Gosh, the village idiot just showed up in my thread...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Re: Would you care if Mayweather Jr. never fought again or retired?
Innocent until proven guilty is the American way and none of the allegations againt Floyd Mayweather has been proven so it's wrong to call him a wife beater, animal killer, or whatever... That shit is ignorance.
Ive been to the Philipines many times and I guess alot of you dont know, but, Manny Pacquiao is NOT a saint like he's portrayed to be. He's cheated on his pregnant wife countless times and has many mistresses in his life so let's cut out all that Pacman the innocent bullshit. I cringe everytime I see him get on his knees to pray or when he's preaching about God in front of the camera. Most people look for God only when they're in need of help and Pacman is no different. God says it's ok to cheat on its spouse? of course not... And he gets praised so much for feeding the poor but the fact is, all celebrities who makes millions of dollars are expected to do some kind of charity work so pacmans isn't doing anything special here. On top of that, he lives in the Philipines and when you change dollars to pacels , he's living like a fuckin King... He can make it rain like Floyd on the streets of Manilla and wipe his ass with pacels for the rest of his life and not turn broke.
Pacman is no better than Floyd as a human being.

First off FinitoElDinamita, this thread has nothing to do with Pacquiao, so stick that shit up your ass or start your own a thread about Pacquiao.
As for Mayweather Jr. he's repeatedly shown criminal behavior, and a pattern of domestic violence and/or been arrested and convicted for battering/abusing women:
In 2002, Floyd Mayweather Jr pleaded guilty to 2 charges of misdemeanor domestic violence.
In 2004, Mayweather received a 1 year suspended jail sentence, after being convicted of the battery of 2 women in Las Vegas.
In 2004, a warrant for his arrest was issued in Grand Rapids, Michigan for failure to appear at a trial. He was accused of kicking a bouncer in the head at a bar. Mayweather pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault and battery.
In 2005, Mayweather stood trial for assaulting his girlfriend in Las Vegas in 2003. The girlfriend, also the mother of his children.
In 2009, Police executed a search warrant on Floyd’s house because witnesses identified Mayweather’s car leaving the scene of a shooting at a Las Vegas skating rink. Witnesses also identified one of Mayweather’s associates as the shooter.
Since Dec. 2010, Mayweather, has been out on bail after being booked on a grand larceny charge, and for allegedly grabbing, hitting and threatened to kill, the mother of his three children, as well as threatening the children.
Any man who beats a woman is nothing but a coward, and anyone who condones this lowlife shit is a fucking idiot, what part of this don't you understand retard?
