Re: No ones fault but Floyds!!!
Yeah I didnt say he should have headbutted him, I said I would have lol, Ortiz is a nitty gritty fighter and vicious. He needed to take Floyd outta his comfort zone to win this fight. I would go out on a limb to say most fighters fight dirty you just dont see it. I see it all the time in the way fighters throw there elbows with their hooks and ram the heads into the other fighter. Not as blantantly as Ortiz did but it always happens. When Ali would grab the back of peoples head that was illegal. It was something that was a part of Ali's style that he constantly got away with. Fighters do what they can get away with alot of times. Just like Floyd did to Ortiz as a matter of fact. Im just not one that will crack their opponent when his hands are down, they are not looking and walking backwards and I dont agree with it. Thats not to say I dont understand it somewhat on an instinctual level.
Re: No ones fault but Floyds!!!
Anyway you look at it Floyd threw a sucker punch, and a sucker punch is not part of the pedigree of boxing.
Re: No ones fault but Floyds!!!
Dirty boxing on the other hand is generally just part of the sport, even taught by some coaches, planned for by all fighters, and if your in a fight its pretty much expected.
Re: No ones fault but Floyds!!!
Not to mention all the elbows and headbutts accidently thrown and landed.
Re: No ones fault but Floyds!!!
I betcha Ortiz wishes he didn't launch that headbutt now. After seeing it lead to the chain of events it did.
Cortez should have had everything straightened with the timekeeper before calling time in. He was clueless. Cortes should have had total focus on both fighters instead of the timekeeper. In floyd fights i've learned, never apologize to floyd for anything, leaving yourself exposed and never look at the ref, even if the ref says something, leaving yourself exposed.
Re: No ones fault but Floyds!!!
To be honest. I stopped reading when the OP got to ''Cortez didn't say fight''.
Re: No ones fault but Floyds!!!
He didnt say fight he said lets go. I just think its crazy to totally count ortiz out that fight lol, I mean Floyd is still the man and he was winnin the fight but ortiz was fightin the right fight by bein patient and tryin to counter. Just cause Floyd was touchin him with straight rights doesnt mean Ortiz was gettin destroyed lol damn I know straight rights are hard to land but shit. And really I dont take anything away from ethier fighter I just dont see all the hate for Ortiz. No matter how you look at the fight was unfinished. Fighters have came back in fights from way worse down than what Ortiz was. Someone on here told me I lack basic boxing knowledge lol but they also tried to say Ortiz had no chance to win the fight. Basic boxing knowledge includes knowing you should never give up in a fight cause in a fight anything can happen at any time. What if Ortiz would have connected with that one good shot in the 5th and Floyd never recovered which lead to an Ortiz UD win? Or Ortiz knocked him out (as unlikely it is that Floyd would get hit lol). Im not even goin to think about or argue about which fighter deserved what or which is the dirtier fighter cause that dont even really matter, but its pretty safe to say the fight was unfinished, and they should rematch after the pac fight. Think about it even if (when) Floyd beats Pac, this fight will hang over his head. He gonna have to fight him again.

Way to increase your post count dude..4 posts on the bounce?
Anyway, why is this thread titled "Floyd's Fault"? Lol..what was Floyd's fault? The fact that he won the fight legally? I don't understand. Or the fact you didn't get the fight you wanted? (admittedly I was a little pissed about that but we got a great undercard and a main event with controversy..well worth the ppv imo)
The funny thing I've noticed about this scenario is every professional/amateur boxers opinion of what Floyd did was that it was absolutely fine. It just seems like the fans who have issue with it.
Boxers all no Ortiz was an idiot because the very first thing you're taught is to protect yourself at ALL TIMES..and it's a damn fight! Hug and kiss at the end of the fight for F sakes!
Re: No ones fault but Floyds!!!
I named it Floyds fault because lot of people were saying Ortiz deserved the sucker punch because he head butted Floyd first. My argument there is they were two seperate incidents and Floyd is responsible for his own actions. I agree Ortiz should have been ready and protecting himself. Despite the fact Ortiz should of been ready, I think its shitty for a fighter to lose the biggest fight he will ever have because he got sucker punched. But like Floyd said it was open season. There needs to be a rematch after Floyd fights Pac.
