re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
I think Hopkins last fight was pretty fun to watch compared to a lot of the other fights he has had. I think he has to fall to pieces at some point i mean the guy is like a thousand years old in boxing years.

Kendall Holt over Danny Garcia. Holt has had a tough go, in and out of the ring but when he is good, he is very good and he does a lot of things I like. He sits down on his punches, he can move or bang. He has good power in both hands. It's also true he has been knocked down more than you would like. Danny Garcia has had a pretty easy path to this point.

It's Garcia's biggest step up, but I give him a slight edge going into this fight.

Hopefully this turns out to be a good fight.. still don't think it's PPV good though.

I'll go Dawson SD on work rate.

Re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
FYI, about 65% of those who voted in the poll so far are picking Hopkins by decision, there doesn't seem to be much faith in Dawson getting the "W".

Dawson reminds me of Jermaine Taylor in some ways. He has a ton of skill - he's fast, he can punch, but he always seems to disappoint. He's so inconsistent that it's hard to pick him to beat a master like B-Hop, even an ancient one.

Agree big time. Its the one point based on most Dawson picks....workrate. But I don't see much of it. Did he find one to follow on a regular basis? I think he's still experimenting with it and even an old crusty but rejuvenated Hopkins is no ones lab rat.
Maybe old fans let go of old fighter stubbornly, but I still see Hopkins breaking him down and pulling away somewhat wide over 12 :-X

Re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
Hopkins too hungry and Dawson doesn't have enough heart. Speed, Strength and age might be on his side but I won't bet against old Bernard.

When you think about it, it doesn't say much about Dawson when a 46 year old fighter is favored by most to defeat him. I still think this will be a close fight that could go either way, and it's certainly not inconceivable, that Dawson could win a decision.

I'm picking Dawson to eek out a decision, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hopkins won yet again. He hasn't been convincingly beat since 1993 :o

Re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
I can see this going to be a 12 round snoozefest.....both styles will clash and not much will happen but Dawson will land enough to win a disappointing 12 round bore
Job Biscuit (Tell me i'm wrong)!!!
eh eh!!!

Any Hopkins fight is a snoozefest!
I'm wondering how you guys think Tavoris Cloud would fair vs these guys.
I think Dawson wins a very close fight

I just checked boxrec and Cloud doesn't even have a fight scheduled. Maybe he's planning on fighting the winner.

I don't know what it is but I see Dawson beating b hops ass . No ko or anything but he is more than quick strong skilled young and fit enough to bore us to death and punch punch hold clinch and move around Hopkins all night . Wouldn't surprise me at all . Dawson ain't all that great shit I think cloud would give him hell and maybe win , but he'll beat Hopkins ..... Maybe

Re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
Hopkins looked very slender at the weigh in. Its odd that at middleweight he seemed bulked up but two weight divisions higher he looks alot thinner.
Interesting that Hopkins got in Dawsons face at the weigh in but Chad didnt take the bait. I think if he did it would have escalated into a fight and Hopkins would have got what he wanted.

Tonights da night!! The Card Starts @ 9:00 PM EST in North America and 2:00 or 3:00 AM Sunday in the UK/Europe, so drag up a couple beers, a joint, or whatever floats yer boat, and check out the action.:pimp2:
At Los Angeles (HBO PPV): Bernard Hopkins vs. Chad Dawson, 12 rounds, for Hopkins' Ring/WBC light heavyweight title.
Two good fights on the undercard: Antonio DeMarco vs. Jorge Linares, for the vacant WBC lightweight title, and Kendall Holt vs. Danny Garcia, a WBC/IBF junior welterweight title eliminator.

Chad Dawson has no idea he's fighting a Dementor in that ring tonight, Hopkins is gonna take his soul. Poor chap, I pity the fool ;D

Don't put links to streams on the main board, that's how they get taken down.

Alrighty, the HBO card starts in about 40 minutes or @ 9:00 PM EST, I figured since I started this fight thread, rather then trying to watch & report the fights on a shitty stream, (like I did Mayweather vs Ortiz) i'd just go ahead and buy this PPV in clear HD. ;D
There's a couple St. Pauli Girl brews with my name on 'um in the 'fridge, so i'm all set to go.

I believe this fight is free in the UK tonight.

Re: Hopkins vs. Dawson on HBO PPV Oct 15th (Offical Sat Night chat thread)
Aloha!
I haven't read the thread yet so sorry if I am off point.
I suspect two things are true
1. Dawson is who he is and we won't see something new
2. If one is true this is going to be a fight between an old guy who knows what he's doing and a prime guy who doesn't.
Dawson must be a different guy to win...unless Father Timr finally drops the hammer.

I've paid my money and I'm waiting for the fight.
I'm still recovering from 13 calling it a career.

Oh definitely, Haye's retirement was one of the saddest days of my life.
Good undercard tonight, and I hope the Main event turns out to be watchable, maybe Chad will fight like he's got a pair.

I'm on stream city tonight. I have only once paid for a PPV card, and that was for the first Cotto/Margacheato fight.
I hope you get your money's worth.
