LOL.... There's actually a twist to this. I don't hate John Ruiz, although I DID hate to watch him fight. (Watching his fights cured my insomnia). On the other hand... I never hated to watch Holmes fight. I just hated the guy himself. Same goes for Naseem and Toney. Well... maybe just Naseem. I actually enjoyed watching him fight, but hated the guy himself. With Toney, I hated both things. Didn't care for the guy... didn't care about watching him fight.
It's all kind of complicated, really.
;D
I also never liked Moorer for some reason as tough as he was I always felt he was a bit girly for some, can't quite pin it down. He just looked a bit childish or maybe slightly retarded, ?
It really is amazing on how Ali went for most hated person to the most loved. I think was just the times and with age i think Ali has kinda been humbled not to mention he can barley walk around now to.
Jack Johnson.
Ali was the most hated for a while. So much so that during his exile his opportunities to regain his titles and fight credible opposition was severely compromised, and meant he had to fight some real bums.

Ivan drago. If they can put freakin stallone in the hall of fame then i can start using fictional boxing characters as valid answers. And we all hated drago that son of a .....
I see several people mentioned John Ruiz...I've never really known anyone to say they disliked him, much less say he's one of the most hated. Why is he hated, what did I miss?:confused:
Is this a 'who do you hate?' or 'who was a fighter that was widely hated by the public' thread? Sonny Liston from what i have read was unpopular.
It HAS to be Jack Johnson doesn't it?
People despised Bummy Davis for ending Canzoneri's career.
Ali was really hated during his sabbatical and in the runup to the first Frazier fight.
Liston
