Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
Is it just me or is this a hard fight to score?
Who ya got so far after 6?

Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
i'm taping it my friend and if it is like the first fight, these guys could fight 100 rounds and it would be close and hard to score in most of the rounds.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
WTF? He didn't even warn Mares.

Smart move Capt, after 9 rounds press row has Mares winning by a couple of rounds. Mares face is beginning to look like a mess.
Agbeko has missed with a lot of punches throughout the fight.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
12th round, this one will go to the scorecards, let's see what they say. :)
You gotta figure that the judges may give this to Agbeko, just because of what happened in the 1st fight.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
A UD for Mares 118-110 X 3.
Good win for Mares, now onward to the HBO fights.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
Mares. 118-110 on all judges' scorecards.

not watching but that is awful wide. From the forums I'm on people seemed to think Mares was winning but not that wide.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
The first fight was better.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
I kind of found it sort of amazing Agbeko's answer for not throwing the right, he said he had to throw right right carefully because Mares was a good counter puncher, yet that mindset didn't stop him from throwing all those wild left hooks early. He didn't worry about getting countered with his wildest punch but he stopped and was considerate with his straightest.

nice stare down between Froch and Ward. It's hard to find a fighter that can admit he can be knocked out and has been hurt. Is it me or does Ward remind anyone of a professor? Doesn't seem like him and Froch dislike each other either. It was a good staredown with fighters that respect each other but you can feel the tension. Nothing fake about all that.

Nope, Ward doesn't remind me of a professor, he's more like a legend ~> in his own mind. There's very few fighters I dislike, but Ward happens to be one that I can't stand.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
Well on his way to becoming a legend in the ring, too. He doesn't come close to losing fights.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
I thought that fight was much closer than 118-110. I still give Mares the win, but not that wide of a margin.

Agreed, but it seemed like Agbeko missed with 90% of his punches, his most effective punch was his left jab, and he hardly threw his right hand at all.
Really disappointing fight, I expected to see Agbeko do much better this time, but he didn't.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
Sad to hear Vic doing so badly, normally an exciting all action style, a bit late in the day to learn how to have a plan B from all accounts.

Yep, Vic is looking old and shot.
Re: Agbeko-Mares II...fight thread
This fight was on Prime Time, anyone watch it over here in the UK. We have too many channels that we have to pay for to watch boxing over here. You guys in the US simply get ripped off to watch a PPV event.

Even though I can afford it, I refuse to pay $65 to watch a fight, it's simply ridiculous, especially since I can usually watch the replay the following week. I do break down from time to time however, since streams are so unreliable and/or a pain in the arse.
BTW, Froch vs. Ward on is on Showtime here in the States and not a PPV.

If I was in the US I would do the same, agreed about Internet feeds always choppy. I want to watch the Froch fight but will have to miss it.
