Alrighty, here we go with SHO-Extreme, "Gerbil" Farhood, Barry Thomkins, calling the undercard which will be: up first Arroyo vs Maldonado.
FWI, "Mikey" Garcia vs. Bernabe Concepcion will be shown along with the main event beginning @ 10:00 PM ET.
Arroyo looks like he's on a level above Maldonado., but Maldon is game.
Score one for Puerto Rico. McWilliams looked great. I scored it a shutout against Maldonado. McWilliams' twin brother McJoe also won his fight, although they didn't televise it here.
McWilliams gonna be a world champ down the line. He's got all the tools.
showtime's decision to show undercard fights on showtime extreme is brilliant.
Just got to see arroyo (a pretty good prospect) fight against an old trial horse.
And it isn't as if showtime gives up much in terms of programming. Shitty action movie X would have been on showtime extreme if not for the undercard fights. And all they do is add Barry Tompkins to do blow by blow on the undercard.
gus johnson is here tonight. Damn him. Damn him all to hell.
I really don't want to but I will probably be watching with the volume off before the night is over.
Vignette on mikey garcia.
If you get a chance look at boxingscene or fightnews and look at the weigh in pictures.
Garcia turned pro at age 18 and he weighed 131 in his first pro bout.
He is 24 and cutting down to 126.
How does that make any sense? He should be at 130 or 135 even. Ridiculous the way today's fighters are cutting too much weight because of the day before fight weigh ins. Garcia has to be keeping his body from naturally adding muscle because of his body maturing by fighting at 126.
Arroyo 98-92, 99-91 x 2. No surprise there, Maladonado might start thinking about a less violent line of work.
Up next on SHO-Extreme, Jose Gonzalez vs. Hevin Herrera.
any links? mine keeps freezing up on me
Didn't realize they were showing undercard on show ex. Thats what is listed as same day tape :dunce: Good stuff. Good to hear Tompkins. He and Bernstein would make the most pedestrian on fights entertaining in a way.
What took so long for Gonzalez to get pissed off? Hevin Herrera, looks done, and he's taking a ton of punishment.
Jose "Chelo" Gonzalez showed me nothing. I'm glad the local guy won, but I don't think he'll go that far. He was slow, deliberate... looked awkward at times... and needs a LOT of polishing before he's ready for top competition.
Good job ref, all Herrera was doing was taking a beating, nice win by Gonzales, he did what he was supposed to do. 20 minutes of fill time before the 2 fights on Showtime... time for a Bass Ale. ;)
First up, on the Showtime card: Miguel Angel "Mikey" Garcia vs. Bernabe Concepcion, 10 rounds.
Sounds like a pretty good size Mexican crowd in San Juan tonight.
love watchin mikey garcia fight and hope to some day see him bust up broner
I used to really dislike Antonio Tarver...then I noticed shriveled up dried prune Gus Johnson sitting next to him.
Bernstein and Tarver would be an outstanding duo, alone, minus the Jr Jim Lampley to the right. Not a bad co main event at all. I like Garcia by ko.
I'd like to see Abe win this, but Garcia might be too much for him.
2- zip Garcia. He's starting to mix shots well and Concepcion looking to set up big counters but just a bit uncertain thus far. Lots of upper body movement and coming forward more in 3rd
Just saw a weird Twitter on the screen. "Mikey" Garcia silencing the PR crowd. I could've sworn Concepcion was Filipino (?)
4-0 Garcia here but, he's showing he's almost too straight a hitter. Where's the bodywork, hook?...lil predictable
Concepcion is just plain garbage now a days.
Concepcion doesn't seem to have a clue how to fight Garcia, who looks bigger, stronger and more skilled.
It's about to end for bernabe
Boom goes the dynamite!
Great composure for Garcia...do wish he'd mix more body though.
Yawnnnnn... little more than a sparring session basically.
That was a dull fight.
Cruz?
I can't knock Garcia for dominating a guy who wouldn't chuck leather...he got the ko. Not like he went 10 and blamed his hurt hands.
Let's go Salido!!
Felix Trinidad in a sweater and grey beard ;D Shit...enjoy them while we have them!
Are there Alligators in Puerto Rico? Maybe y'all could feed Gus Johnson to one, i'd really appreciate it.
Not many get my ass pacing the carpet now but this one has a sudden, brutal feeling to it...shut face-ring bell!!
feel for salido. Having to try to beat Lopez twice in San Juan.
Here we go, rumble young man rumble.
both guys appear to be in great shape.
