And I know that sounds harsh, but think about all the guys who are going to have negative repercussions after boxing on account of his doctored gloves (if you think Mosley was the first time he had it, you're niave).
Well, let me put it this way:
I don't think HBO's going to be knocking on his door anytime soon about a commentators job
.... he looks dumb as a doorstop and probably doesn't have half the brain it takes to make it as a promoter or a trainer
..... he doesn't have a TV-friendly face to do any shaving cream commercials
..... and as a convicted cheater, opportunities are going to be scarce in general.
To that, you can add that his pretty (but money-hungry-looking) wife will probably leave for greener pastures now that she's left with a "one-eyed", "has-been" bum..... and you have a pretty pathetic post-boxing picture.
Basically, all that leaves is a minimum-wage job, and a side job consisting of selling his autograph at street corners in the slums of Tijuana. But that probably won't generate too much income from his fan base made up of several dozen people.
It's a sad day, indeed (wink, wink).
Ouch! You guys are pretty brutal and he certainly deserves it for what he may have done to other fighters and what he tried to do against Mosley. I was truly gutted when Tony was caught cheating to the point of being embarresed for him, but no matter how angry it made me I just cant find it in myself to wish so many bad things on another person especially one so far removed from my own daily life but to each their own.
I put this up in jest in case someone didnt figure it out, I knew this was going to push some buttons especially for some of the "Puertos Rican fans whose hearts Tony won over in his Cotto fight" haha.
Actually bro... I owe you some thanks for putting up the thread in the first place.
When I first read Margarito was retiring, I was about to pull the trigger, and said:
"Naw..... I'll just let it slide. Margo's fans are probably expecting me to pounce on the carcass by starting a thread." But then, you did it... and I waited for a few responses... and only then did I let loose with my anti-Margo barrages.
But in all honesty, I don't wish anything truly bad or catastrophic on Margarito or any other human being, for that matter. I just hope he disappears from the boxing scene altogether and doesn't make another single dime off the sport. It's only fair.
Haha ya you owe me thanks so that your comments could get muddled in with the rest of the savages that want his balls on a platter. Again to each their own but I just cant get into that kind of rage or whatever it is
I was having a conversation this morning with a client of mine about fans and their devotion to their team, player or athlete and how the fans are willing to get into fights and commit some horrific crimes against other people over what and for who? For a team who doesnt know who they are or an athlete who is never going to see them when they are in jail for a crime they committed, pretty retarded.
Boxing to me now is no different then watching a movie, it may be bullshit or it may be the fight of the century in the end it is 2 or 3 hours of entertainment plain and simple. If its real or fake, if the judges are bought, if someone is on PED's, or if someone is wearing plaster is something i cannot control and I will not let get under my skin. Will I cheer for a fighter to win a fight as much as I cheered for Tony in 2008...probably not. That was the first and last time and it was dumb for me to feel his shame when he got caught afterwards.
I'm hereby changing your handle to "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde".
One post you're proclaiming how the cheater deserved everything he got and more, and how you're angry and embarrassed by him. The next post you're labeling anyone who criticizes the cheater as "savages", calling critics "retarded", and generally going back to your pro-Margarito tone. And it's not the first time or first topic where you've done this. But rest assured I'm on to how your twisted little mind works, and not getting roped into your "peace bro" bullshit anymore.
"Bipolar disorder" I believe is the clinical term for it. Get help.
Dude are you really that lost? Go ahead and reread my posts, I called fans that get into fights with other fans retarded. You wished to see him on the corner asking for money, that his "money hungry looking wife" leave him I just dont see why you have that kind of anger over a fighter?? Is Miguel Cotto your best friend? Was he paying your bills or something?
Don't be moronic. Cotto's neither my friend nor does he pay my bills. You, on the other hand, seem to swing from Margarito's balls, and have constantly defended him..... never mind that
he retired from boxing in disgrace, having been convicted and suspended as a cheater, and getting his ass handed to him in a grudge match where he wanted nothing more than to crush Cotto. But he didn't... he lost... and he retired in disgrace.
I've been very clear in what I've said. I wish no personal injury or catastrophic misfortune on Margarito..... but I also hope he never makes another penny from anything even remotely related to boxing. And if he goes broke and ends up back in the slums where he came from.... no tears will be shed over here. He cheated in a sport where cheating could kill a man. If that's ok by you ('cause you've made it clear you couldn't care less), then good for you, kid.
You started this idiotic "A sad sad day..." thread. You should've expected the outpouring you've received.
'Nough said.
Ok Brian calm down already. Haha this is what Im talking about I bet if we were having this conversation in person you would have already gotten in my face about it and would be ready and willing to throw punches, its not that serious. Ya he's a cheater and I agree that he should have been done the moment he got caught, but thats about as far as it goes, if I hated him vocalized it as much as you do would that make you feel better?

This is your opening post..... and below it is a pretty sensible post by someone else, which just about sums it all up. Maybe I'm being too soft on the cheating bastard. So I'll just second that "fuck him and the horse he rode in on" comment, if it's ok with you.

Ok in all honesty, did you really think I was being serious about the post? We dont know each other at all but I find it hard to believe that you didnt see the fact that it was joke? I practically wrote it for you to begin with.
In case you missed it, I was joking. I dont think Margarito won the hearts of anyone much less Puerto Ricans the day he beat Cotto. I dont think he is a champ as he most likely cheated in all his biggest fights and wins starting with Golden Johnson. I dont wish him a good or bad life because it is not mine and what he did thankfully didnt affect mine. He should have been booted, served jail time, and forced to look for another way to make a living after he was caught.
For us that are spectators of the sport and members of this thread it should still be fun to watch and talk about boxing and because some of us have been debating boxing and fighters against each other for years now I dont think a joke thread should be so out of line or taken so seriously

HAHAHA alright bro we will agree to disagree. Unfortunately it is impossible for someone to read the tone of a post or thread. I think alot gets lost when you cant tell how someone is saying something or in what way they are saying it. Enjoy the fights tonight Tito.
One thing I will take back, if Canelo and Cotto ever meet up in the ring I will cheer just as loudly for Canelo as I did for Tony, not because im a huge Canelo fan but so I can come in here and press your buttons from time to time.

Of course there is Fenster, he beat Cottos ass. For any Cotto fan that was enough as there is no way that Tony could have done it any other way. Even though for 6 rounds Cotto swung and connected with all his little might and could not topple the Tijuana Tomatoe.

So as long as no one disagrees with you its ok and they are normal, the moment someone puts a point in front of you that you dont like or adhere to then you get all riled up. To his point Fenster said that he never was caught cheating only trying to cheat but you ignore that comment. When I say that Cotto had his way with Margarito for 6 rounds and couldnt put him away you say I am backing up Margarito and Im on his nuts.
Someone stating a fact doesnt make them bi-polar or gay or whatever, however ignoring certain comments when they dont suit your argument is being closed minded.

Re: A sad sad day...Antonio Margarito retires.
So if I may sum up:
Margarito was convicted and suspended for attempting to cheat against Mosley, which to most knowledgeable and reasonable boxing fans casts serious doubt over many of his previous fights (once a cheater, always a cheater). After being found out... he proceeded to lose 3 out of his next 4 fights, including getting KTFO'ed by Mosley, a huge beating at the hands of Pacquiao, and a sweeeeeet payback beating from Cotto.
Shortly thereafter he decides to retire from boxing in disgrace.
Did I miss anything?

Im sure you are 100% sure that he cheated however without knowing it for a fact it is still only your opinion. Im about 90% sure he did it but still only my opinion. One thing that we know 10000% to be true is that in both fights Cotto connected alot of punches, but couldnt knock his cheating ass out regardless of what Margacheato had in his gloves.

True. Cotto's punches didn't knock out Margarito in either of their fights.
But Margarito was still convicted and suspended as a cheater... lost 3 out of the next 4 fights (including a rematch with Cotto)... and retired as a beaten, disgraced fighter.
Nothing more... nothing less.

I agree completely.

You got it bro
There's not a shred of evidence that Margarito ever cheated in his life. Fact.
He got convicted and suspended. That's good enough for me.
But anyway.... did you find your thread?

I forget how they introduced plaster into wraps when being watched?
I can only imagine that the wraps themselves were slightly damp and already run through powdered plaster before being brought out?
Or was there a plate of already hardened plaster slipped in between the wraps?
The only other question is did he know or was it his corner men siding their bets that way?
A lie detector test would be great one day if he has the balls to sit one.
