An to address the original question, yes I thought Manfredo could outbox Chavez Jr. Hell Matt Vanda beat him.
Wrong, I think the Klitschko's "are great", the greatest heavyweight of all time is hands down Joe Louis anyone who says Ali is greater than Louis is just caught up in the celebrity of Ali. Ali ran off at the mouth, Joe Louis never even had that chance, but he defended his title successfully 25 times in a row AND had years of his prime taken from his because
HE ENLISTED DURING WORLD WAR II.
Well I'm sorry, but Manfredo is shit...I'm just disappointed I never saw the guy properly concussed and down for the full 10 count. I'm hoping Sergio Mora ends up losing a fight that way so I don't feel totally ripped off.
Can someone please tell me if this fight is being shown on UK tv ???
Ali is the greatest because of the opposition he faced and beat, far superior to Joe Louis.

Doesn't he always look kind of wirery? This is the first time I recall Jr. fighting someone who's bigger than him, this may end up being a fun fight, especially if Andy wins. :-X

True dat, if a high level pug like Pacquiao can get screwed in Vegas, the lessor known Lee hasn't got a prayer of winning in Texas. All Julio Jr. has to do tonight is survive the 12 rounds and as juiced up as he'll be, he should be able to do that.

Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
I see this fight as trainer vs trainer for some reason. I hope Lee pulls off the upset though.

Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
:action: HBO is definately going to air the Pac-Bradley replay tonight beginning @ a little after 10:00 PM ET. The live main event, Jr. vs Lee, will start sometime after 11:00 PM ET (like 3 AM in the UK on BoxNation)
In honor of Andy Lee I plan to quaff back a few Guinness in bottles once the fight starts.

Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Here we go with the Pac-Bradley replay, it will be interesting to see what HBO has to say, Ledderman had it Pac 11-1. I don't plan on scoring it again, I had it for Pac 10-2 or maybe 9-3 the first time and had a clear look at the fight.
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
I'm not seeing anything different this time, Pac landing the majority of the effective punches, and blocking most of Bradley's punches with his gloves arms.
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Jr vs Lee is set to start in a few minutes and there seems to be no interest in this fight or this thread, so adios amigos, i'm signing off.

Oh who would have thought somethin fishy again with texas testin chavez...
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Someone get JCC Jr. some water so he can take this piss test and we can move on. Taking it after seems a little fishy to me, especially if Andy Lee has already done his.
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Small ass ring might lead to Lee's death

Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Lee a step backwards in competition for Chavez
-
Oh lawremce I'm completelt incompetent cole is refin the fight awesome
-
Fuck laurence cole every body shot lee lands is low if chavez says so
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Lee should side step more often since Jr is always leaning forward, side step and boom uppercut under those hooks. For the love of god stay away from the ropes if you got the legs.
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
What next?
He cant provide a specimen for a drug test and gets to bring his own gloves?
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
I haven't seen Chavez Jr before but he looked pretty good to me. Just walked all over Lee.Not even competitive.
-
Lee should have boxed, chavez can be outboxed and as soon as he meets an a class boxer hell be outboxed hell zbik almost did it...also wtf is up with the texas comission letin chavez either not submit a test at all, or whenever he feels like it its stupid...
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Great stoppage. Lee was gonna get hurt
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Chavez is average at best. If he ever fights anybody his own size who can punch he'll take a well-deserved beating.
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Chavez has a great chance against Martinez. 50-50 fight
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
He keeps calling out Martinez like a rooster and yet people would have to be stupid to think that he would fight him with all that bravado unless he would get a bunch of advantages. If Arum thinks Martinez is going to fight him in a ring the size of a ten cent stamp, allow him to bring his own gloves, with an Arum ref in Texas and ignore the new same day weigh in rule effective June 30th he needs to give his head a shake. Even tonight they somehow got a pass on the piss test and that’s with day before weigh ins.
-
Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
Chavez fought very well tonight, he's an extremely slow starter, but he's very deliberate with his punches and seems to pack quite a wallop.
Takes a good shot too, of course he is a 180 + lb man fighting a 165 lb man.
Martinez is even smaller than Lee, but faster and more skilled also with more punching power or at least accuracy.
I think Chavez has a shot in that fight due to his size, youth, drive and toughness. Having Roach in his corner doesn't hurt him either.
I'll go with Martinez though if they do end up fighting, his class should shine through despite the huge size disadvantage.
-
I think Martinez still schools him with quickness and intelligent movement. That being said I give Chavez a bit of credit for his win tonight but I am curious as to why Andy Lee stopped boxing.....it was working for a while.

I've been saying the same thing for a little while now. I think Chavez will give Martinez all kinds of trouble.

Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
how did you all have it at the time of stoppage , my score was 57-57

Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
it always baffles me when a boxer decides to trade, decides and is not is forced but consciously decides to forgo to the tools that had enabled him to be successful and make a living out of this hard gig.
Let this be a lesson to him, if a guy is constantly leaning on you so he can plant his foot and wack away at you, step to the side and let him eat your uppercuts all night long instead.
I'm getting Hearns Hagler flashbacks here. WHy the heck would you trade with a man who's probably weighting at LHW at fight night?
Infuriating fight to watch if you're a fan tactical boxing and all the credit to Chavez with his excellent left hooks and using his body as leverage to throw mean punches with bad intentions.

Re: Julio Jr. vs. Andy Lee Saturday night fight/chat thread
This is on Box nation tonight, did they show it live?

Like it or not, Martinez will take the fight on whatever terms Chavez's team dictates. Chavez is the economically more substantial fighter, so that's just how it works, like it or not. Personally, I think Chavez has a much better chance to win than I thought 24 hours ago. Keep in mind, Martinez had some struggles with freakin' Darren Baker and Matthew Macklin before closing strong, so let's not pretend like he's unbeatable. He's a touch overrated, frankly. Chavez's size and body work give him a solid chance.
