Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
it's sad when a jab is called "a good left hand" in the 12 round of a fight.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
I give it Dzin on principle and being sharper and cleaner. Gonzalez doesn't care.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
If they rematch I'm shooting my TV
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Oh well a draw, probably best, all things considered.
On to the main, Papa says the Kazak Golovkin has a "great personality, WTF?
Having a couple Newcastle 'lil Browns tonight, they're a bit addictive when fights are on. A Brit friend of mine who lives in Newcastle told me about this Beer.

I say dock him a point right at the first bell, no doubt. Its not 'I couldn't make weight'...its 'I don't want to be bothered'. Guys like this actually planned to fight with more weight, while the opponent has to force it on in under a day just to keep up and make scratch.
This is a great fuckin idea actcually dock em two points
It has to impact them immediatly and force a real cost. Guys have to work harder, labor and force issue, bit of a catch 22 really and an actual price.
Might be cynical and I know part of purse is more than an annual income for some...but I don't put it passed some promoters, camps etc to figure it in now in name of 'showcase' and advantage...insurance. I don't know :p
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
I think i'll be pulling for the Pole Proksa in this one.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Golovkin definitely has the edge in power, i'm not sure that was a KD though.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Proksa is game and courageous, but he's outgunned, this won't go more than a few more rounds.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
This was a mismatch, Proksa was never really in the fight, Golovkin is a good middleweight, it's going to take someone with serious power to beat him.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Proska is solid guts. Golo stiff but he's a believer in forcing the issue, down your throat.
Make Pavlik. Hello crossroads

Pavlik- Golovkin would make a good fight, thing is, I doubt that Kelly can make 160 again.
Golovkin is definitely a player at middleweight, although I believe Martinez has the power to put his lights out.

He seems to have a dam good chin, proska loaded up on some unches but golovkin just shook em off with ease
For some reason Golovkin reminds me of Kostya Tszyu all he needs is that little pigtail.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Golovkin was very good. He was a great amateur, he knocked out Bute and beat Andy Lee and Andre Direll on Points. 16 of his first 19 fights as a pro were won by knockout, the guy is special. He has the power to trouble Pirog, Martinez, JCC Jr ,Sturm or Geale. Great skills, his short punches are nasty, Proska was smarting and that guy is hard, and GG's power punches betray his size he could fell a SMW. Well impressed.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Despite routing against Gonzalez, I did think he won the fight by a round or two.
Soo many close and inactive rounds tho.
Proska was one tough mother, he had a look of pure anger on his face even as he was being beaten up and dropped for the las time.
Golovkin is very solid. Nice short power punches and tight defense, he looks small for middleweight.
Him vs. Pavlik or Abraham next would be good.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
Geale would be the obvious choice for a next fight, assuming neither Geale nor Golovkin can get Martinez next. I don't see Geale putting up his titles against Golovkin though -- he would be a big underdog. I'm completely sold on Golovkin -- he looked way more skilled than he has in any of the random youtube stuff I'd seen from him. He was so calm and measured too -- an excellent closer. I'd favor him over anyone but Martinez at MW.
HBO was definitely looking to hype him and if anything, he exceeded expectations, so I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him there. The HBO money should definitely help some in trying to get top quality guys to actually fight him -- something he needs now. He's 30 years old.
Other solid fights would be Quillin, Pirog, and Junior. I agree Pavlik would be a decent next-tier-down scrap, but at this point I think Pavlik is done at the top tier and would get his ass beat. No interest in seeing the fraud Arthur Abraham in against anyone top quality ever again.

Although it didn't exactly take a genius to work that one out :p
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Grzegorz Proksa Saturday night fight thread
So, Hearn led Proksa to slaughter. It's what I anticipated. Golovkin is good. Maybe too good for a Kazakh in the U.S.A. without a fan base. Quillin is in a tough fight against N'Jikam in October, otherwise I would suggest Quillin versus Golovkin next fight, unless Quillin backs out again.
