given ur logic and past comments wouldn't put it passed you, so on a serious note, answer the question, name one significant Mexican fighter apart from JMM, who has any elite level fighter on his record much less a win

Are you trying to set me up to say Chavez jr so you can start with your conspiracy theories? If so there you go. How about you besides Cotto which rican has beaten a p4p fighter or faced one? Wilfredo? That would be your Chavez equivalent

no just knocking down your claims that Juanma Lopez never fought anyone who was elite, so wanted to see exactly who you would try to push out as a real example, which obviously you had none, and sorry Wilfredo Jr and Chavez Jr is apples and oranges, because Vazquez stepped it up and fought the likes of Sonsona, Arce, Oquendo, and Donaire with half the amount of pro fights, but yea, don't consider Vazquez Jr elite, we have the obvious answer which is Cotto, he's the equivalent to Marquez, has fought everyone, but like him or not but Garcia did just spark Khan who was/is ELITE

but it also has to do with the fact that we don't have to leave the island make a living, don't try and take it there buddy cause that's a losing battle for you lol
Of course you don't. Puerto Rico is called Welfare Island for a reason. Why leave the island and work when you can just sit at home and get food stamps provided not from the Puerto Rican goverment (they have one?) but the US goverment.

VD has more fleas then his chihuahua, who also has fresher breath. BTW, chihuahua/stray perro is a staple in the mexican diet, it's the meat they use when they make, tamales, burritos, and soft tacos.
I figure now it's about time Fenster started another thread about Prince Hamed, it's been at least 6 months or more. :p

I'm glad you enjoy them @Mars_ax.
Currently though I can only think of one regular guy that would bite. And I feel sorry for him, at the moment, because he's so paranoid about people out to get him.
The Naz threads will return though. Fact.

Re: The "Puerto Rico vs. Mexico boxing rivalry" - who's winning?
I have no dog in the Puerto Rico vs. Mexico rivalry, although I would assume Mexico is winning at this point in time.
On another note, Argentina is taking Mexico to school this year: Matthysse over Soto, Maidana over Soto Karass and Martinez over Junior. Three nationally-televised fights; three wins for Argentina.

Those are match ups of their best fighters against some of our mediocre fighters. To say "Argentina is taking Mexico to school this year" is kinda dumb. Maidana would be stopped under 5 rounds vs Canelo. Matthysse would also get stopped by Canelo IMO. Sergio on the other hand is a top elite fighter and I can't really think of anyone let alone a mexican challenging him on his divison. He needs to move up or down to fight either Floyd or Ward so he can actually be challenged.
But seriously come on Humberto Soto 8 loses? Kasarras 8 loses too? ... The only legit loss is Chavez JR these other guys while mexican are mediocre fighters no where near our best.. Maidana and Matthysse while limited.. are consider Argentinas best Not to say that Chavez JR is a top fighter (Not at all) but he was undefeated and up and comer.

First, scoreboard.
Second, it would be no shame if Maidana lost to Canelo because Maidana is a welterweight/junior welterweight and Canelo is a junior middleweight! Canelo should be fighting junior middleweights, not welterweights. Instead, he has picked on smaller guys. Until he beats a solid junior middleweight, I'm reserving judgment on him, although I would be a liar if I didn't see potential. He should be facing Sergio Martinez, not Marcos Maidana.
Third, Soto had dominated all Mexican competition, albeit still not great competition, for four years or so at lightweight before moving up to face Matthysse. This was a pick em' fight going into it. Many people thought Soto would outbox Matthysse. It was also a big fight on Showtime.
What Mexican fighters do you want to see Matthysse and Maidana fight now? I would love to see Juan Manuel Marquez face Lucas Matthysse; I just don't it happening. JMM has bigger fish to fry. If Rios and Alvarado weren't with a rival promotion company, I would also like to see either of them face Matthysse.

and the sad thing is that the only 2 that Canelo would fight are Maidana and Matthhysse, cause well they fit his normal profile, smaller guys lol he wouldn't even step up to fight Martinez if given the chance, Canelo's next opponent will probably still be Victor fucking Ortiz or Delvin Rodriguez lol, and sad thing is that he's in a division that has plenty of good match ups
Cotto, Trout, Mayweather, Angulo, Kirkland, Quintana, Martirosyan, Lara, and Molina are all at 154
obviously not all are available (Cotto/Trout, Lara/Martirosyan and Angulo all set), but the rest are available, hell even Bundrage would be a step up, but no, Canelo is like Chavez Jr., he'll fight old shot fighters, smaller guys, or bums until he has no other choice other than to cash in, and when he does he gets fully exposed :-\

Re: The "Puerto Rico vs. Mexico boxing rivalry" - who's winning?
I did a list some years back I believe it's something like 30 wins for Mexico and about 20 for PR...
Gonna have to look for the list. I know I have it here somewhere in my notes.
It's easily the richest and biggest boxing rivalry we have.

Re: The "Puerto Rico vs. Mexico boxing rivalry" - who's winning?
I think it is a nonsense thing to have rivalries between countries. Boxing is an individual sport and you like fighters based on style and character. I couldn't give a fuck where they come from. We live on planet earth, what does a border have to do with anything? It is a ridiculous argument really. Barrera is Mexican. Toney is American. Hatton is English. I like them all, what does nationality have to do with it? What next, liking fighters based on race? Liking fighters based on sexuality? Liking fighters based on religious affiliation? Mind you I do hate God bothering fighters. Andre Ward is particularly idiotic.
A true fan of boxing transcends gay concepts like nation and border. It is trite, small minded, and pathetic.

I get what you're saying and there's nothing wrong with that. Some of my fav. fighters are Hamed (Yes) Whitaker, Hatton, Kostya, DLH, Cotto.. etc. But the rivalries add excitement to the sport. It keeps it entertaining.. special; the puerto rico vs mexico fued, both fighters give it that 110 percent because it's such a huge thing with two nations watching and pulling for their fighter. It's not that we're racist or prejudiced but we just like rooting for our home town heroes some time. Mind you there's exceptions like Cotto vs Margarito.. I'm very happy with the 2nd fight's outcome. In all honestly its a fun rivalry, nothing personal. While I respect their boxing history i get a kick out of making fun of the 2 hut amigos as well.

Again you show everybody how little you know about the sport of Boxing. Golden Boy and Alverez made the fight with Kirkland. Kirkland punked out. They offered the fight to Cotto. Not wanting to end up in a situation where he might quit again Cotto didn't accept. Yet you still list them as fighters Alvarez is some how ducking. Or refusing to fight. :vd:

Say what you will about Chavez Jr but honestly if you think Canelo is scared or ducking fighters it's pretty moronic. Canelo was set to fight Paul Williams before the accident, then Canelo was set to fight Ortiz who mind you had just fought Mayweather but well.. Josesito had a fluke win so Canelo handled that. Canelo has been calling out Mayweather for a while now, Kirkland backed out of the fight... I'm not sure about Cotto I can't remember hearing that but.. Canelo is stepping up no need to hate on him. Not to mention Mosley but "he was old and past his prime" because he lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao right?

not a knock on what Williams was, but what had Paul done really leading up to that fight? a gift decision against Lara in what should have been his 3rd loss in 4 fights, then he beat the one hit wonder Ishida
Canelo was set to fight Ortiz....a guy who started at 140, was KTFO there and then KTFO at 147, what do you think was gonna happen at 154 against a bigger fresher opponent?
Kirkland is the only fighter that well people can claim backed out of a fight with Canelo, but Kirkland had just gotten a gift win against Molina in a fight that he looked extremely flat in, he claimed he had a back injury and well in HIS defense he has not fought to this day
Are you seriously trying to validate Mosley as a legit threat? He didn't just lose to Floyd and Manny, he was completely dominated and made to look like the old shell of a fighter he used to be, throw in a draw against the likes of Sergio fucking Mora in between those losses and sorry that makes a Canelo/Mosley fight a step down not up. People already thought he was on the slide before the Margarito fight, he showed up gave one last great performance and then went on to stink out the place in the next 4 fights.
You're blind and in denial if you can't admit that Canelo hasn't fought a legit contender or threatening opponent to date, he's fought guys that are either smaller, old, or just not that good.

Maidana and Matthysse while limited.. are consider Argentinas best Not to say that Chavez JR is a top fighter (Not at all) but he was undefeated and up and comer.
and the sad thing is that the only 2 that Canelo would fight are Maidana and Matthhysse, cause well they fit his normal profile, smaller guys lol he wouldn't even step up to fight Martinez if given the chance, Canelo's next opponent will probably still be Victor fucking Ortiz or Delvin Rodriguez lol, and sad thing is that he's in a division that has plenty of good match ups
:vd:
Like teenage Puerto Rican girls you make it to easy.
does that change the fact that Canelo decided to go after the fucking smaller Lopez, I know damn well that they "proposed" a fight against Kirkland, no proof that they ever offered a fight to Cotto, for someone who hates Pactards so fuckin bad VD you're just as big of a fan boy as them when it comes to your two crushes the Ginger and Silverspoon Jr, just like a back alley Tijuana whore you say anything to try to make a sell, fuckin sad
If you knew they offered Kirkland a fight (and refused it) than why list him as someone Alvarez should be fighting? That's just stupidity.
There was no point in offering Cotto a fight after he made it clear he didn't wanna fight Alvarez. His bullshit excuse was he had a big money fight in December. Supposely a Pac or Mayweather rematch. He's fighting Austin Trout instead. :vd: He used the rematch possibilites to avoid fighting Alvarez. You can hype Trout all you want. Claim he's this and that. It don't matter. Cuz there is no way Cotto makes more for a Trout fight tha he would for a Alvarez fight. No way.

Put a fucking cork in it already and consider dusting this thread. What a fucking nightmare that should have been one of the most interesting threads ever.

because Kirkland rejected or pulled out of the fight due to a back injury, an injury long gone now, so he is still in the running to be an opponent but Alvarez wont take the fight, he'll probably just fight Ortiz despite his loss to Lopez
so now you put your own damn foot in your mouth first making up the bullshit that Cotto was offered a fight and now that there was no point into it, Cotto was juggling the two offers for rematches against either Mayweather or Pacquiao, but it looks like Floyd has no plans on fighting again this year and well Pacquiao had already started with the bullshit demands that he's famous for, calling for another catchweight and refusing to face Cotto at 154, so he did what most are criticized for not doing, he told them both to shove it and took a lesser pay day against a lesser known undefeated tough opponent, he's doing what you criticized him for not doing before, that he was supposedly in it only for the money and wasn't looking for high risk opponents, well his fight against Trout is clearly high risk low reward, when is Canelo finally gonna do the same and take on that type of opponent? Molina is available and has earned the payday, make the fight

Told you, you knew shit about Boxing. Kirkland is in all kinds of legal disputes. With his promoter, manager and trainer. He ain't gonna be available any time soon.
I was wondering when the over-hyping of Trout would begin. All that praise he gets, yet his best win is over Delvin Rodriguez. In a fight he looked like crap in. Trout resume is pretty fucking weak. Calling him high risk is laughable. Don't let his hollow record and paper title fool you. He's very little risk. I'm expecting Cotto to run right through him

I'm sure Trout's resume would "magically" look a whole lot better if it was Canelo he was facing instead of Cotto.
Even David Fucking Copperfield himself would be envious.

Past posts clearly show I never thought much of Trout. Still don't. Try harder

I think you got us confused with the Phillipines, who have Pacquiao, Donaire, and a bunch of nondescript shit underneath.

Lol! Just telling it like it is brother. No need to get all sensitive.
I'm nationalistic too. I'm bias most of the time. But it don't cloud my judgement from the truth.

... and he just got TKO'ed in 9th. That's it for him. He blew his second chance. He's just not on the elite level.

did anyone ever really think he was? only positive thing that could be said about him is just that he's not as bad as Boom Boom Bautista
