You're right mate - Surprised this even up for discussion. Floyd victory over Mosley was a 10x better victory. You only need to go back to the time when it was happening to see what people thought about it. At first it was "Floyd will never fight Shane..he's too scared. He needs to fight him to be the man at welter..blah blah" - he signed up for the fight a week later and people were full of praise. Hindsights a wonderful thing..I don't think anybody saw Jones vs Calzaghe as anymore than a circus exhibition.

Do you know what, in the back of my mind, I had a feeling that I did and that somebody would pull me up on it. I really, really, really wanted Roy to win. I prayed he still had even a smidgen of the old Roy Jones because I so badly wanted him to knock out JC. I didn't want him getting the satisfaction of beating a legend of the sport and then claiming "he beat Roy Jones" like the arrogant twat that he is.

You should have seen me after that first round K.O. I was jumping up and down..JC was hurt and I thought, like the old Roy Jones, that he was going to dispatch him there and then to cement his greatness. It didn't happen and seconds later when all Roy did was smile, stick his tongue out and let JC recover by not throwing ANY punches, I knew that the fight was a circus exhibition that Roy had no intention of taking seriously.

So yeah, I picked him. Couldn't bring myself to pick the twat over a legend like Roy :eek: ;)

RJJ in my opinion never had to prove he had a great chin, as his game was to hit and hop it he never
really engaged in toe to toe stuff. Jones relied on his reflexes, and speed, he was not a fighter I never
really took to, I can say I never really enjoyed watching him fight.
His style of fighting is not for me, as with Hopkins not for me it's down to your taste , I do like Mayweather and Mosley. As with all things in life, if we all liked the same things it would be boring.;)

Mosley was coming off a sensational knockout victory over a man many regarded as the number one fighter in a talent rich division.

Jones Jr. was coming off a listless outpointing of a former welterweight standout who hadn't fought in three years at a catchweight of 170lbs.

If mosley was in the better form then please explain the Mora draw ppl! As for Margarito...ppl fail to mention that Margarito was caught cheating just before the fight! Mosley’s trainer Naazim Richardson noticed something odd about Margarito’s hand wraps while inspecting them and the Mexican boxer was forced to undo them and have them re-wrapped by his coach Javier Capetillo. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered the wraps contained a plaster-of-Paris type substance. Margarito was a hyped up cheat! Pathetic that this is not mentioned here.

Erm, Mora was a slick, 6 foot tall middleweight? Still not as embarrassing as Jones Jr's one round demolition by Green within a year of being beaten by Calzaghe.

Actually he came in under the MW limit. Secondly he's utter shyte slick or not! And we all saw what margarito became once he was placed on an even footing with his opponents. Cotto and Manny made him look like a journeyman and both easily beat Mosley too!

Disagree Floyd v Shane was exciting seeing Mayweather wobbled and then he stepped up a gear and was flawless. Joe beat up old Roy Jones which was not nice.

Masterpiece is a great way to describe the way floyd took moselys best shot twice and completely dominated him after that.

Perfect chin.

All those steriods mosely took in the past stayed in his system and turned him into a KO machine with speed.

Floyd had moselys number in any era and everyone at the time was avoiding mosely after the destruction of margarito whether he had the wraps or not.

I see a pick em fight. Roy having to work harder than he ever has in any fight with Joe's work rate. Not an easy one by any account.

Even if we were just to swap opponents for both fighters.
Pretend JC had RJJ opponents and RJJ vice versa up until the first tarver fight.
Im pretty sure roy would have a higher KO% with JC opponents and remain easily undefeated.
JC on the other hand (still a great boxer) would have a few losses under his belt. ie: toney, hopkins and would calzaghe risk moving up in weight..naaa.
JC could not even complete the list.

As much i like JC stamina, fast hands and boxing skills he just seems to have missed the boat in say a handful of fighters he could have fought to erase any doubt in anyones mind..but, 46-0 is still a very well respected achievement.
