Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
Barthelemy blew that 11th like he was owed something
7-4 Usmanee here. If this is an indicator of fights to come in 2013...we are very fortunate!

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
What a performance by Usmanee

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
:appl:
Final round capped it. 8-4 personally. Quality fisticuffs!

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
Nice closing 12th round for Usmanee, Barthelemy is not an easy guy to fight, good job by Usmanee.
Good main event, especially for FNF.
What a fucked up decision..

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread

Disgusting eh. Somebody has to do something about this shit. Year after year flawed.

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
We should track clear robs this year. Not 'close' etc but shit rob calls. Post to Wiki or something. Something.
Helen keller and Mr. fawking Magoo would see Usmanee winning more than 4 rounds here
-
Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
i think it was a close fight. Bad scorecards but not a robbery imo

Theres zero accountability in this sport for judges. None. We yell and then mostly settle.
116-112...twice...robbery! I don't need Teddy Atlas coughing up a lung for me to know it was garbage.

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
In this fightnews poll, so far 98% of fans had Usmanee winning:

Lol. Yup we get outraged and then pacify by the following week. Its a wonder this sport has any fans.
Like addicts continuing to shoot hot loads.

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
Teddy had it too wide for the Afghanistan fighter, but he clearly did win the fight a good 7-5 or 8-4.
That 12th round was damn near 10-8 in his favor.
Fightscorecollector is at least keeping track of shit like this.
Its a start.

Contact the Florida Athletic Commission with your thoughts on the fight.
This is the director's e-mail:

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
It was a robbery and Teddy was right to be shouting himself hoarse. Crap decisions are almost par for the course now. We are almost becoming anaesthetized to them. "Oh that's another one! Next..."

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
Do we get to see this fight over here?

Agreed, the 12th round was a one-sided beatdown, how 2 of the judges could have given this to Barthelemy 116-112 is a fucking mystery, it totally ruined what was an excellent/gutty performance by Usmanee. :-\

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
BTW, the good news for Usmanee is he made a bunch of new fans, including me, and hardly anyone believes he lost that fight.

I second this. I watched this fight with a few family members and friends who are not really boxing fans and they were impressed with Usmanee.

Usmanee is a likable/entertaining guy, whereas Barthelemy comes off as a fucking clown.

Re: ESPN FNF back - Jan 4th fight/chat thread
I know Arash and he's a hometown favourite around here, so obviously I'm biased but that decision really was garbage. I hope someday boxing regains its dignity and is seen as the greatest sport in the world. I also hope that the silver lining to this situation is that Arash gains fans, recognition, and respect that he deserves. He got to where he is today through pure determination and hard work, and is also a very kind person and all around gentleman. However, I fear that this will become another fight that outrages people, but is ultimately remembered as just another bad decision like Abril/Rios seems to be.
