Showtime Triple header: Berto, Matthysse and a guy named Broner

Broner seems to be taking Taylor into deep water before lowering the boom.

Broner can beat a guy like this who isn't much of a puncher, but Matthysse is going to kill him. Lucas is an even better puncher than Maidana IMO. Broner puts his ear muffs on and leaves the body open, Matthysse is going to eat him alive.

I'm in the same boat, don't know much about the opposition. I think Broner looks a little better than when he ties to emulate Floyd. Good fight so far, I would like to see Broner lose by either ko, dq, points or a cut. I would love any of them but I think Broner is being very careful who he fights. Chances are we will have to listen to his mouth until he fights some names again.

well taylor let broner take that 5th by puttin muffs on for last 30 or 40 secs...

On the straight game Broner gets clocked clean, he gets Berto like feet. Taylor much better 5th when he doesn't put his head on the counter 3-2 Taylor..inside Broner killing it

Anybody remember who Taylor fought last, I've actually seen him a couple times but forget the opposition

4-4 even again. All things equal...damn good scrap. I do think Broner has put more a light on his lapses. He rides the ropes...coasts.

In Broners mind this whole scene is probably a bummer. He should be ppv, undefeated and call all the shots. He shouldn't even been taking so many hits. You gotta feel bad for the guy having that tarnished record and getting hit, just being a regular boxer.

12th much the same taylor killin it for 2 min went to sleep and actually got kd looked like a hard one to but was right back up, so definitely broner win but hes nothing special nor do I think will he ever be, hell hover around top 5-10 for a while

agreed lucas has to high a workrate and broner isnt good enough a boxer really, he just has exceptional speed at times to his punches

Well, if Broner hadn't been in that fight I would have liked it much more. My dislike of Broner makes it difficult for me to keep an open mind.That was an excellent scrap. Broner ,in the ring, seemed like a much better fighter. No matter who is in the ring a good match is a good match. I hope this opens a few doors to Taylor, I've seen him on ESPN and he seems like a decent guy and is fun to watch. I hate to be happy seeing Broner win but respect to the fight he fought this eve.

I understand where you're coming from, any credit I give to Broner is done begrudgingly too.

Broner just does stupid stuff. Credit to Taylor, he seems like a really good guy and he is what young fighters should strive to be emulate. Good guy. Broner is the teenager with a Ferrari. He's an idiot. He does that stupid thing with his right hand where he punches at the target rather than through it and to emphasize it he pulls his hand way up and loops it back to the shoulder. "Following the jab" is a common tactical decision people make when they know a guy is just pushing a jab as fodder. I can not wait til someone "follows the right" of Broner. It's going to happen and he's going to pay for it. Hopefully he gets sparked. Roy did the same thing but he did it late in fights and not habitually, he did it to fuck with guys. Broner does it because he has probably done it so many times in the gym to look cool that it is now imprinted. This is a nitpicky post. I understand that. Matthysse didn't look impressive to me. He still has the power to make Broner pay for his stupid little antics. Imagine if it was Matthysse who connected on the "counter hump" right hand like Taylor did? What if he turned on it? It would be Campbell-Peden-esque except that he would have been disqualified. Still, the laughs would have been great. Seriously, that is an actual possibility. Matthysse hits harder than Maidana. Wish he would have got pushed more tonight and I almost wish the opponents would have been reversed to better build up the bout. Still, Matthysse gets the benefit of the doubt. Would like to see him turn over more on his punches though, he was reaching a lot tonight and left a lot of his punches flat. Oh well, I'm on board with Matthysse-Broner. Danny Garcia will beat them both too.

a) Berto looked pretty poor, but showed flashes of good stuff.
b) The Mattysse stoppage was utter garbage.
c) Broner looked the same as always, opponents have him worked out now. He steps up and he loses.

I think Broner won by a few points, but he looked sloppy, lazy, and easy to hit. Broner is a bit predictable and so even fighters who might seem a level below see the blueprint and follow it with a fair level of success. Taylor lost the fight, but being such an underdog he won the event.
