Amazing
I can't help wondering what the safety measures might have been like though.

The Thirty Arches Bowl in New Jersey held around 80,000 people and was purpose built for the fight.

Great article about the fight, it's amazing the stadium never collapsed!
The eight-sided wooden arena, costing $325,000, was 300,000 square feet and was built in two months by 600 carpenters and 400 workers using 2,250,000 feet of lumber and 60 tons of nails. The attendees paid between five dollars and fifty cents for general admission and up to fifty dollars for ringside seats. Tickets were available at B.F. Keith's Theatre on Newark Avenue and Bay Street. According to Roberts, "In the best seats the match would be watched without fear of life or limb; but the wooden outskirts of the arena shook frightfully from any commotion initiated by the holders of the expensive seats. It was truly a democratic arrangement"
Shahbazian reports that at the end of the eleven-minute fight when "the roaring crowd leaped it its feet, those who were there insist, the pine structure actually swayed"

Hasim Rahman, getting blasted by Lennox in the rematch of their first fight. The guy in the other picture is Cleveland Williams, after getting KO'ed by Ali.

Iconic; for real. I've read some great posts over the years, great threads, but this is the total package. Words not needed.

Re: Iconic Boxing Photos: Post them here!
Namely victims of Holmes before they squared off ;D. Evangelista somehow found himself ranked just enough to lose over 15 to an out of shape on the slide Ali and rode that familiarity and Ali tie and a European title into the opponent spot as Holmes 1st defense. Snipes Had a decent run to get to Holmes and dropped Larry harder than a bag of rocks mid fight but was stopped on his feet in the 11th. Poor guy was hit so hard he went over board protesting the stoppage when being interviewed by Cosell and his cornerman accidentally slashed his arm open with scissors. Lost some close ones afterwards to Witherspoon and Norris, beat Berbick and missed out on a career high payday as 'comeback' opponent for Mike Tyson when Snipes broke his hand in a 1990 tune up.
