No doubt Floyd is great but as Ive always said we will never know how great as he hasnt beaten a prime elite fight. Oscar past it, Mosely past it, Pacquiao past it. I reckon he beats all them in their prime but he didnt.
...And yet Pacquiao gets credit for defeating Oscar and Shane despite having fought them a year after Floyd defeated them both!
154 is the upper limit of 39 year old Floyd's ability. It's ridiculous to expect him to keep moving up in weight as he gets older. Why not have GGG move down to 147 to make it a "fairer" fight?
When did I give Pacquiao credit for those wins? And the fight against Floyd would be at 154 so Floyd wouldnt be moving up again.
Move down to 147 for the fight, wouldnt surprise me if thats the demand from Floyd. He has a tendency to make sure fights take place at weights most suited to him.
Fight night GGG would weigh 175 and Floyd would weigh 154. Hardly seems like a fight a 39 year old should be taking.
Why would anyone want to fight at a weight that doesn't suit them? How stupid are you Floyd haters?

So fighting Canelo at 154 is ok but not GGG? That seems like someone is hand picking opponents, which Floyd has done his whole career. Hes a coward. Wlad and Vitali fought anyone and everyone. Never heard them say you cant wear this glove or you cant come in over this weight. Floyd is just a coward plain and simple. Put him in a fight where he doesnt call all the shots and he loses easily.

You realize they're heavyweights. There is no weight limit. Plain and simple.
Even Bob Arum admitted that Manny & Co blew the fight the first time round not Floyd.
Floyd's highest career weight is 151 lbs. GGG weighs in at 170 lbs on fight night. How can you think it would be a fair fight to have anyone fight an opponent who is at least 20 lbs heavier on fight night?

Was curious so I looked it up, his bet was on under 5.5 total rounds at +130, so GGG just barely obliged him. He only put 50 thousand on it, and made it 115 apparently. My thought is even those odds are really generous and to hard to pass up, but I guess Monroe did prove to be decent and people must have expected him to go late.

Read GGG got $1.5 million and Monroe only $100K.

I have no problem with Floyd ducking a fighter because of this. But he fought Canelo who usually comes in at 170 on fight night. I believe he was 172 v Angulo. So again, how is this ok to do but fighting GGG at the same weight is fighting a giant? Its no different, its just hand picking opponents.

I hate to do this again because I feel like I'm picking on someone with some mental deficiency...but your concept of "ducking" is a bit skewed. Mayweather and GGG aren't even in the same weight division or in the same age bracket as one another, so how is it that Mayweather can be "ducking" him?
To suggest someone is "ducking" they have to be a mandatory or an obvious and inevitable opponent neither of which fit this situation.
Also, have you done any research into Canelo's fight night weight, or are you just LAZY & DUMB?
With regard to your claim that Mayweather hand picks his opponents... Are you so dim that you think that isn't how the entire sport operates?!!? How do you think careers are shaped, records are built and legends are made? You think boxers are just put in against the toughest opponents possible from the start of their careers to the ends? Have you even taken a look at GGG's list of opponents?! He's 33 and has yet to fight anyone of substance. If you want to talk about someone who is undefeated and in the prime of their career that should be challenging themselves to achieve at the next level it's him--not Floyd, who at 39 is all but done with the sport as an athlete. Why don't you demand GGG move up in weight and take on a bigger fighter with greater punch resistance, more experience and a harder punch?
Why aren't you posting about his hand picking opponents and blatant "ducking"?!?
Because you're a Mayweather hater @Silkeyjoe. Pathetic!
-
Re: The Myth Of GGG As The Man To Beat Mayweather
I think GGG should move up but I can see why he hasnt. Theres bigger fights for bigger money at his weight or the weight below. Yet again. How can Floyd take on Alvarez, a fighter of similar size to GGG, and younger then him, but a fight against GGG is impossible?
I hate Floyd, hes a cunt and his fights are shit. but I judge him equally to other fighters, and unfortunately for him, there arent many who go around calling themselves the best ever. It seems strange that you are giving out so much about this matchup. Do you not give Floyd a chance in the fight? Id make Floyd favorite at 154 and couldnt see how you could make GGG favorite, although it would probably be a lot closer than Floyds other fights, which again tells me he wont fight guys who genuinely have a chance of beating him.
-
Re: The Myth Of GGG As The Man To Beat Mayweather
Since Ive been on this site Ive said there are 2 guys at Floyds weight who have a decent chance of beating him, Khan and Thurman. I believe Floyd knows this too and thats why he wont fight them either. Again Floyd is definitely favorite in both fights but in all his fights to date Id expect these 2 to cause him more trouble.

Yes I like GGG so I must be a Pactard. Typical Floyd nuthugger. He cant answer the one question Ive asked so just resort to calling me a retard and a pactard to support your argument. Good job Rocco.

Canelo was 165 on fight night, since you're too stupid and lazy to look it up. GGG averages170 and over on fight nights. If 20 to 25 pounds difference is no big deal for Mayweather to have to give up, then why doesn't GGG give up that 7 more pounds and go down to 147 to fight Floyd at Floyd's more natural weight?
If it's too much to ask a 33 year old fighter go down that much then it must be too much to ask a 39 year old to go up that much.
Can your Pactard brain understand?
Why should Floyd Mayweather risk his health in the last fight of his professional career?
You can't stand the idea that he's going to get out of boxing rich and undefeated and healthy so you'd like to see him fight a man 20-25lbs heavier than him for your own satisfaction and you call him a coward if he doesn't. You're pathetic!

Again Im not asking Mayweather to go any higher than he has before. GGG fights at 160. If he had to make weight of 154 its pretty obvious he wont balloon up to 170, he will much more likely come in around 165. Again making him the same size as Alvarez.
I dont care that he comes out of boxing rich or undefeated. Its no skin of my arse. Its not my money he has and its not me hes beating up so I couldnt care whether he retires undefeated a multi millionaire or with a few defeats and broke like other great fighters before him. I just want to see him in good tough competitive fights. He could try to cement himself as the best ever but to you nut huggers you seem to think he already has done enough to deserve this title. I just dont get it.

You've already admitted that you're a Floyd hater so no matter what he does you aren't ever going to respect him as a fighter.
You haters are all the same. You make a claim that if Floyd fought "opponent X" then he would prove his worth. He fights "opponent X" and beats him, then you all make excuses to discredit the win. "He was weight drained"(even tho you backed the catch weight before the fight). "He was injured". "He made him fight in Vegas, had it been elsewhere he would have lost.."
You haters are blinded by your hate despite your claims to the contrary. In the end it doesn't matter anyway. So keep hating Floyd for his accomplishments and keep holding every other fighter to a different (lower) standard.

I think Floyd beats GGG at an appropriate weight for Floyd. Which is to say that he is not out weighed by20-25 pounds on fight night.
What I'm trying to explain to silkeyjoe and the rest of these "Mayweather should fight GGG or he's garbage" posters, is that Floyd and GGG are very different in size and age. It makes no sense for them to expect Floyd to fight such a large and heavy fighter at this stage of his career and that it doesn't make him a coward if they don't fight.
Just like it makes little sense to have GGG go down to fight at 147 it doesn't make sense for Floyd to give up 20-25 pounds on fight night.
It's pretty basic but these morons just don't get it.

Re: The Myth Of GGG As The Man To Beat Mayweather
I think the point is Floyd is the best welterweight, he has beaten the best light middle so what real challenges are there for him in his last 2 fights he will probably have.

Did you read the post at the top of this page?
The one where he says: "I hate Floyd, hes a cunt and his fights are shit."
Guess you missed that.

I can see that you just don't get it.
Theres plenty of fighters I hate and respect, including Floyd. Theres no doubt hes the best fighter of this generation. I also dont mind his style. If I could be a fighter id love to have the great defensive skills of him or willie pep. Im just saying if he wants to be known as the best ever he has to take some challenges in his career (even though hes coming towards the end of it). And for all the excuses being made please find where I made one of these excuses. I didnt think the Canelo fight would be competitive before the fight took place. Same goes for the Pacquiao fight. I thought fighting Maidana twice was a joke.
Take Leonard for example. I think its very close between him and Floyd in all time rankings. But I have Ray slightly higher. Floyd never fought a welter weight of Tommy Hearns class and definitely didnt fight a fighter like Hagler. But Ray did get a lot of his fighters hand picked too as, like you said, all great fighters do. Ray also lost to Duran who I could never see beating Floyd.

Re: The Myth Of GGG As The Man To Beat Mayweather
My point is who should Floyd fight that would be a realistic challenge for him?

Yes I did.
I dont see how anyone can genuinely like Mayweather. ANd what I meant by his fights are shit is that they are not competitive. I like his style and against the right opponent his fights could be entertaining.

GGG at 154, Thurman and Khan at 147, Crawford at 140 would be my picks

I'd like to see those fights as well. The problem is....
When Floyd beats Thurman "It's cause Thurman is too inexperienced and Floyd ran all night".
When Floyd beats Khan "It's cause Khan had a glass jaw, was weakened from Ramadan and Floyd ran all night."
When Floyd beats Crawford "It's cause Crawford is too inexperienced, Floyd was too big and Floyd ran all night."
When Floyd beats GGG "It's cause GGG was weight drained and Floyd ran all night."
The haters will always hate Floyd no matter what he does.
