Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
Which makes beating the Marciano record - 50-0 - utterly meaningless. Chavez, Pep and Benvenuti all smashed that number but didn't retire.
We currently have the outstanding Chocolatito Gonzalez at 43-0 and the not so outstanding Cesar Cuenca at 48-0. It's a record that can easily be trumped.
Joe Calzaghe could come out of retirement to beat it.
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
I think just because it's "Floyd" loads will be made of this when he gets to 49-0 / 50-0 which im sure Floyd himself will ram down our throats ;D
It's just a tune up fight for the Pacquiao rematch next year and Floyd is being touted at an 80:1 favourite already which just proves what a miss match this is.
Berto has lost 3 of his last 6 and is ranked 22nd in the world (one beneath Frankie Gavin) and has absolutely no chance at all, however like i said earlier i expect this to be free in the UK and Europe so he has a huge platform then look amazing against a shit fighter and drum up new fans for another mega let down fight on PPV with Pacquiao in 2016.
It's all about Business at this stage of Floyds career unfortunately and the $$$ he can make while he's still fighting.
I'd be amazed if Floyd doesn't go for a knockout win against Berto ;)
A Seasoned world champion like Floyd should not be allowed to cherry pick a spent fighter ranked number 22 in the world - this is what i can't get my head around.... the fact that he is allowed to do this :-\

I very well might but the undergrad will be important on this one. I'm not a flomo, in no way do I expect to see Floyd lose and I don't give a Shit about his bling but I do like to watch him box. Getting a Floyd fight for me is being one with Rocco.

Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
Finito retired at 51-0 so I don't know what record Marciano holds that people keep talking about?
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
Everyone needs to calm down
Who the fuck you want Floyd to take on next ? Cancer ?
Look - He just fought and beat Pac-Man. The supposed Flippino bad-ass, who was meant to be this big tsunami, this big hurricane and he was gonna go in there and give Floyd the fight of his life. Now don't me wrong. Floyd did not stomp all over Pac-Man, well, because that's not Floyd style, but he did what Floyd does, nullify his opponent, stop them from hitting him and then countering him. I also don't think that Floyd is TBE. So I'm not Floyd's dick like that.
But FFS Floyd has been fighting elite guys for 18 years. He's the only guy left from his USA 96 Olympic team that's still fighting !!
Cant he just have one easy fight ? And actually is Berto that bad ?
Kell Brook fought Frankie Gavin last time out. Amir Khan fought Chris Algieri last time out. Keith Thurman fought Luis Collazo last time out. But I'd rate Andre Berto a better fighter than Gavin, Algieri and Collazo.
All those people saying this is a hard sell, need to shut the fuck up, come Sep 12th, you know you'll be buying it, or going to one those free streaming sites to watch it.
Even though it's true what Mike Tyson said of money, that, "Floyd's a great fighter whose never been involved in a great fight"
People will still buy it.
And who knows ? I reckon Berto's reading all these comments about this being a mismatch, and him being a no-hoper and a nobody and he's probably at this moment breaking rocks. chopping trees, training like his life depended on it.
And maybe, Mayweather is thinking "I just beat Pac-Man. I ain't got nothing to prove. All I have to do is show up"
And who knows ? That workerd for Douglas against Tyson. So why not Berto against Money ?

Yeah but he was still undefeated though. Whenever someone brought up the "Marciano record" it was as a champion who retired undefeated, which is what Finito also did.

Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
95% of the people who are potential buyers of this PPV heard about it weeks ago when they were telling us it was going to be free on CBS. And an awful lot of them thought Fuck, Berto, but at least it's free and they're not asking me to pay for it. Now they're asking them to pay for it.
If Floyd Guerrero only did seven hundred and something thousand then this could easily do less than that. I don't think Floyd is fooling many people when he says he's retiring and I think people will wait till next year to see who he fights next before they shell out for another Floyd fight. A lot of people will watch this on the internet, off a download of the following Saturday on Showtime.

Floyd Mayweather has never robbed me. Mayweather got rich by fleecing people inordinate sums based on deception. It's a snakeskin trickster game and it's a shame that at 38 he is still getting away with it. Andre Berto PPV. And it will sell! :D
How is he fleecing people? What is the deception?
He fights in virtually the same masterful style in every fight.
Boxing fans and the general public can look up his opponent's records on Boxrec or watch prediction videos on YouTube and if they really care to be informed then they watch the opponent's previous fights.
Where's the fleecing? Where's the deception?
Floyd says he's TBE and he dismantles every opponent and beats them by wide margins almost every time.
^^^ If we have to be disappointed with someone that would be Pac as he didn't fight as he usually does and promised. His offense was nullified by Floyd's superior boxing skills.
People complain about Floyd Mayweather fighting Andre Berto but I don't remember Pac fans complaining about their boy fighting Algieri, Rios, Clottey, Diaz, etc. Berto could beat all of them.
I didn't want to see Mayweather vs Berto either but its way better than the nobodies Pac fought (mentioned on the paragraph above).

Name is not Keith Essien son. That's just the name I use. What ? You think I'd be so stupid as to give my name on the net ?
The first port of call of white people when you disagree with them on topics concerning race is them to try and smear your name. But your gonna have to do a lot better than that.
Also - Why is that you always respond to me but I never do it to you ? Why is that I don't waste my time in wanting to know about you, but you do it to me ?
Just think about that.

In your rush to protect Floyd, you consistently miss the point. The majority aren't complaining about Floyd fighting a gimme fight. The complaint is that it's a rip off on PPV. Don't try to justify it or point out other rip offs, as if that justifies this rip off. Have some integrity and say: "this fight should not be on PPV but I'm a die hard Floyd supporter and want to help make him richer".
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
I hope the PPV tanks hard and he has to come back and fight someone good next time around.
Berto is weak, like a fruit

It's a crap ppv but woulda been good on network TV.
Ultimately, greed won out.

How can showcase make a profit on this contract. If they have to pay Floyd say minimum $32 million. The only big ppv buys were against Canelo and Manny. The rest were not great sales.

I don't care what they eat or if they make a profit, I'm not watching a PPV between Berto and Floyd! I have standards! 👍

Are they letting Berto use a bat, or making Floyd use lead filled shoes??? Berto won't touch Floyd. Floyd will display his defensive brilliance and superb movement and win a unanimous decision with an average 34.5 punches thrown per round and 12-13 of those landed (per round). If you buy this PPV, you will be bored to tears by round six and your guests will either leave early or be asleep on your couch.

Whether he likes anyone does not matter.
He must like Berto some to allow him to have this pay off, unlike Khan.

I can't remember the last fight where Floyd stepped on the gas and went for the knockout. Maybe the Ortiz fight? Floyd always talks about beating the other guy down and scoring a stoppage and then fights like a pacifist trying to make sure NEITHER guy gets hit too often. Great fighter. ATG fighter. Not very exciting though...

He never really commits for a KO, but he will step it up in spurts and throw some big leather to chin-check the opponent and see if a stoppage is possible. I know he loaded up big on a few shots he threw at Pac that never really had the desired effect, so I guess he just decided to close up shop.
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
If there is an amazing undercard it can justify being PPV but otherwise its just a rip off. Unfortunately floyd usually showcases his fighters on his undercards and they are always shit to watch. Ishe Smith, Badou Jack and Mickey Bey.
GGG v Lemieux shaping up to be a good card. Roman Gonzalez confirmed on it and possibly Luis Ortiz v Stiverne. Much more value here then the Floyd card IMO.

He must like him a little, he's giving him a good payday, plus he'll be the answer to the boxing trivia question, "Who did Mayweather beat to tie Marciano's undefeated record?"

What if I grow wings today? Would u consider me an angel?
More relevant question would be: "What if the fight goes exactly as all other Floyd fights go and is a clinic on defense and ring generalship with little to no excitement? Would u feel like a jack ass for wasting ur money again????" Hint: answer should be "yes".

You're such a hater, you aren't even willing to admit that a good fight could happen.
Even if Floyd gets knocked down once or twice. Even if he loses.

Am I REALLY a hater? Is that REALLY ur comeback/counterpoint? I'm saying that Floyd is so superior to Berto that it is a foregone conclusion that Floyd will easily dominate and u r saying I'm a HATER?!?!? Have u been eating retard sandwiches again?
The odds of this being a great or ppv worthy fight are the same as me growing wings today. The odds that it will be a boring, dominant and wide UD are close to the odds that the sun will come up tomorrow. Waste ur money if u want to, but just admit that u love the guy and don't care what he is doing in the ring, just seeing him and his slick defense is enough to excite u and worth ur $70.

Statistically there is a far greater chance of Berto knocking Floyd down than there is a chance of you growing wings.
You are clearly a moron if you believe otherwise.
