Ive watched some highlights of Martin and he has a wide open defense, low hands and seems very flat on his feet, ok he has power but I think this could be an easy few rounds for AJ and a win by KO.
A bit miffed at why he's come out publicly and said he wants to use Vitali Klitschko for "advice" before April?
Id have gone straight to Lennox for any advice on how to operate inside and outside the ring at world level.

AJ and klit brothers go back a long way. They have a connection with him that Lennox does not.

Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
Nobody really knows anything about Martin and yet he's dismissed outright as an opponent. He's got an above average jab, moves fairly well, can punch like a brick shit house and is a southpaw. His comp has been equal or better than Joshua's group and he's much better than anyone Anthony has fought. Unless Martin does not lay a glove on him and the fight turns into a Joshua highlight reel this could be one hell of a fight. The guys got a 90% ko ratio has put people to sleep and has never been down. Oh sure you can say Anthony has a 100% ratio but the devils in the details. I like Joshua, he's great for the division but I have this feeling that his chin is his achillies heel.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
That's sort of the way I see it to, Martin is actually the less proven of these guys. Joshua is a lot more explosive/strong, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him get an early stoppage, but Martin also might prove to have a chin or be a lot craftier than you could guess. He's a huge guy who looks to fight with substance, he's a lefty with big power who's never had a tough fight himself, it's a fun match up.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
Martin is doing a big media campaign over here and doing a lot of interviews. He seems a nice guy and selling the ppv fight really well.

We know he's slow compared with AJ, has poor defence/low hands, likes to throw to the body a bit and has power.
Its the slowness and poor defence/low hands bit that a fast, athletic and heavy hitting opponent should fairly easily expose ;)
-
Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
Even if AJ wins it does not make him a world class fighter just a leading contender who has not gone the distance yet. Winning a title unfairly stripped from the real champion.
AJ will then make Wilder type defences against poor opposition to learn and gain experience. Hearn is a smiling cunt to sell this to the public.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
Yeah what a shit fight to make, Hearn should be ashamed of himself for being brilliant at his job.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
Press conferences are held to sell tickets. If you've sold out you're gonna mention it.

I spose your news agent also tells you how many papers hes sold every time hes selling you one too:D
Or when you pick up your chnese takeaway mr Wong tells you how many portions of special fried rice they have done that nght;D
Its just totally irrelevant information to you. As is Hearn telling people how many tickets hes sold. You want to know about the fighters not the logistics of putting a show together at a press conference to get people interested in watching:rolleyes:

No, just calling it what it really is.

Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
Are you having a fucking bubble with those analogies? ;D
99% of press conferences start and end with the promoter explaining where and when to purchase tickets. Press conferences solely happen to SELL the fight. The reporters are there to publish their stories which benefits the promoter in SELLING the fight.
If a fight has sold out before the initial press conference it becomes vital info not irrelevant.

Agreed , also by telling us how popular the fight is , it makes more people not in the know want to watch it on TV.
This will make them even more money, great promotional work in my opinion.
Also if Hearn has sold out ,then he can gloat this is a popular fight it would seem.
I'm pretty sure they will land more than 7 and 4 punches a round , it could be a fun fight I will be watching.

Yeah, tomorrow at work ask your none boxing fan friends if they found the info on ticket sales so irresistable that they are now just bursting at the seams to watch it.
You make me laugh;D
Also, that punch out put is by the two best heavies in the world facng the biggest threat each is ever going to face.
Your about to watch two comparitive amateurs swing for the fences at each other over Tyson Furys crumbs. You can get excited about that if you want;D
What Hearn is really saying is "I cant believe how many mugs are lapping this shit up!"

What you , Fenster and Al have said is 100% right, but you can't expect a numb nuts like Ross , or an anti profit making, bandwagon jumper like Master to comprehend this.
If it were fat Mick talking about Tyson, they'd be pronouncing this as the rebirth of Christ ffs! π

Al you were massively out of your depth knowledge wise and with your preidction regarding Tyson v Wlad. Whos going to listen and take seriously your prediction of an "exciting" fight?
-
Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
I like the fight its really about 2 evenly matched fighters , I will pay for the fight if its for a belt or not.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
It is refreshing to see some younger contenders fight rather than watch Wlad who lets face it on the evidence of his last fight ( and your only as good as your last fight ) is boring and totally shot. I just cant forgive him for taking the money for a none effort he is a joke.
I'm looking forward to this one , martin could be either crap or the next star who knows.

Thats more honest. Two evenly matched fighters and has the potential to be every bit of excitment lacking as Fury v Wlad.
What happens when fighters meet their match?
If they are clever boxers you get a boxing match.
If you get a pair of numbskulls with little experience you may get an embarrasing display of windmilling, falling over themselves etc etc. Thats not exciting and for a world title will be embarrasing. Just like Wilders defences.
Both have never faced as big as a threat as they are here. Joshua looked awful, stiff, slow and robotic in the Whyte fight. Certainly not world class. He pulled it out the bag by stopping a british level fighter, whoop dee doo. I can see a very cautious dull affair with Joshua being mindfull of the southpaw stance and left hands and Martin trying to take Joshua late.
So dont get too wet just yet;)

Ross Whyte is a good fighter mate he had put plenty to sleep, I known you like Fury but AJ is a big threat to him or any other HW out there.
This is a good fight and will have more action than Wlad V Tyson, Fury won but in reality it was a crap fight to watch most Wlad fights are.!
Ross just enjoy mate and we could end up with one more World Champ.

You started this by questioning Hearn as to why he should talk about the sell out at the press conference.
Your statement above is absolute proof that Hearn is doing an amazing job! Selling a fight between 2 journeymen or "good amateurs"
As big as he has is promotional genius is it not? ππππ

I never said he wasnt.
He is currently only British level though and right at this moment so is Joshua.
He let himself down in the fight and i think someone who was destined to be world class wouldnt have wasted those shots when Joshua stumbled and would have got him out of there. He shot his bolt launching wild messy shots that missed. His fitness wasnt all that great either.
Whyte may never get beyond British level. Time will tell.

Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
It's nice that both fighters have respect for each other and represent themselves well , so much better than being acting like a dumb idiot's with zero class.
-
Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
Don't worry Ross, the hardcore/nerds will still recognise Fury as THE champion. It's not Tyson's fault he's not half as popular, exciting to watch or as marketable as AJ.
Maybe Eddie will give Tyson a slot on AJ's undercard in the future.

Do you think Hearn would want to be associated with the travelling community or would that be a bad move fenster?

If there's a pound note involved Hearn would promote Isis.

Popular in the UK wont necessarily transfer to worldwide appeal without a personality. Tyson Fury was at a show with two world heavyweight championship fights and he wasnt fighting but was the most talked about fighter at the show.
Ha ha Al always asking Daddy Fenster if his opinion is ok;D

Re: Anthony Joshua to fight Charles Martin for IBF title
I agree fenster Hearn would put his own mother in with Joshua if he thought it would sell tickets . I guess it just business.
