Quick turnaround vs David Allen in 2 weeks! Missed him against Whyte but is Allen up to his neck? Ortiz looked pretty pedestrian vs survival Scott and they're simply trying to establish the "beast" and KO hype.

Allen's self imposed retirement never lasted long then! can't see the point of this myself. Ortiz is supposedly World Level, Allen was a punchbag for Whyte at British Level. and before anybody says "stay busy fight" or "establishing his profile in the UK" or any other such bullshit, fuck that, load of crap. just a bit of Shelf stacking by Matchroom for their Box Offfice Bill .
Allen's a nice guy, but he takes too many punches. He's Mentally unstable by his own admission, has gambling and financial issues , again by his own admission, so he's begging Hearn for the fight.
This is when tragic things happen.
I like Dave Allen, he's very personable, funny and hard as nails. He has a lot of potential but wants everything now.
He only had about 9 am fights. If he didn't have that self destructive personality he could have been going places. If he'd have waited for a couple more fights experience before Whyte he could have had the beating of him. He's just been a sparring partner for so long that he didn't throw enough punches. He had Whyte stumbling back just from pressure in the last round.
Hes been screaming to Hearn for months for a Price fight and as soon as Hearn signed Ortiz he called for that. I like Allen and because of that I'm going to be a bit biased BUT Scotts chin ain't the best and he got through that fight and when he threw the right hand Ortiz was there to be caught. Ortiz and Allen are the same height so he won't dwarf Allen. Dave has acknowledged his mistake and has said a few times he's going to put it on Ortiz and let his hands go. He's been training the last few weeks knowing something will probably be offered last minute for the Dec 10th show so hopefully is at least fit. He's been doing a lot of sparring with Dillian Whyte in his camp.
It will be a better fight than the Scott fight and he has a solid chin and legs like a bull so will be able to pressure Ortiz and if he can keep in his face for a few rounds at 37 or whatever he's supposed to be it will be interesting.
Better late than never: Ortiz joins WBC/ VADA Clean Fighter Program.
Shame he got over here so late, would have been nice to have had him KTFO Clinch-ko during his run
Stands 6'5 with an 84 inch reach, fighting from a south path stance.
The Scott track meet still makes me second guess him just a bit. His quicker than normal hands looked near one dimensional with no plan b. I'm all for shutting a guy out with few KD's but with heavyweights come on. You're the real King Kong FFS.
Luis Ortiz vs Jarrell Miller make this fight.
It might just be ;D. He's built like a redwood legit pop but next to no rounds. Still like his ring approach and trying to find a niche. Good personality just wonder if he's another Kevin Johnson. Ortiz is a month away from 38 and two years off his biggest win and times a ticking.
His power seems legit. He has those tree trunk legs to thank for that. He seems to carry the weight well but I am skeptical of how he will perform in the late rounds of a fight. Ortiz is getting long in the tooth but has the better all round skill set and has proven the ability to go rounds. Intriguing fight tho that I fear we may not get to see.
AJ barely beat southpaw Roberto cammerelle, Ortiz is a legit heavyweight with a ko percentile of over 80%.
