Tell you what, Ortiz is to reliant on the same straight left. Looked it vs Thompson also. Mix it up!

Tyson Fury would make Ortiz look daft! He's sloooow!
-
Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Have a shut out but honestly with Scotts chin and extremely passive approach...a guy like Ortiz and his build up should have him out by now.
No one wants a friendly King Kong. NO ONE :-X

Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Ortiz does look super slow on his feet just now.... he is old too, don't think he is going to make it right to the top, which is a shame, he does have some real nasty power though, he could certainly ko anyone/.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
I think unfortunately for Ortiz his time has passed.
his punches are tired and slow, not or can't put combinations together. Being left for dust. Caught Scott clean a few times but hasn't put him away. Totally underwhelming.

Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Didn't see the fight, but someone please tell me why/how is Scott rated.
Isn't Scott the guy who got knocked out by the wind from one of Wilder's first punches in the first round in San Juan?
-
Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Definitely not impressive from Ortiz, he's been looking for nothing but the left all night. Every time he corners Scott and can't get it off he just resets. The lead right was working early, he should have stuck to that or just thrown caution to the wind and gone to the body. Malik Scott shouldn't even be allowed to fight again having said that, what a clown.

it is still on... as for malik scott. who knows..... it's a shame he fights as crap as he does because he does seem to be pretty skilled and in good condition. I guess he got this fight because he looks the part and has only 2 losses on his record and I suspect they thought ortiz would squash him too and look good. 12th round now :S

Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Crazy as it sounds feels like Ortiz peaked in Jennings fight??? Or does he just need someone to fight back? Still cannot cut down a ring and that power jab is so absent. Showing no adaptability or punching imagination here.
By no means is Scott on the cards, but sadly he'll get the phone calls off this garbage and more big opportunities.
I need a bleach bath!

Give Ortiz a chance. Scott was negative and no one would look good against him.

Hes a skilled, lazy Cuban.
I think if someone tries to fight to win then yeah he's dangerous but he wouldn't lay a glove on Fury.

wilder did, he didnt even need to hit him to ko scott !
but fair point, scott really was very negative and had no real desire to win, hard to look good against someone like that, scott also isnt a total donkey either he is pretty good at survivng :S. Ortiz did look really slow though but to be fair to him he knocked scott down and totally dominated but this fight showed a few limitations for ortiz, he does have a lot of power though and I think it will be easier for him to show it v someone who is actually trying to win..

Mate he just had 12 chances to look as devastating as people are making him out to be and just phoned it in. Hurt him and let him off.
Del Boy got him out with one ffs ;D

Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Since you mentioned that, Scott was actually on the canvas a good few seconds longer on the first knockdown tonight than he was against Del Boy:-\ If the ref had just waived it off there Ortiz would've got a pass.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Stephen Smith is on, so forget the last fight. Great tune coming in.

The ref had a long count? Missed that. Announce crew was saying he seemed aloof the whole fight.
looks like the other title fight will be off air :-X

Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Shame that.
This is turning into a good fight.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Terrible Heavyweight charade - Ortiz should have flung him around and got him out of there.
I'm as sure as i can be that Hearn only put this night on to Launder some money in the tax free Monte Carlo underworld ;)
-
Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Smith is quality but this is a good fight.
-
Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Smith is not getting an easy fight, he is working for his victory.

You have him ahead? Possibly yet another Brit taking a world title. Thanks for the rbr
-
Re: Luis Ortiz, Stephen Smith, Jamie McDonnell and Martin Murray all fight in Monte C
Sorry I have not done it rbr. It is the 9th and Smith is winning and hurt him at the end of the round. Legs went.

Never underestimate how hard it can be to stop a fighter who is in survival mode.Tito KOd a prime joppy like nothing as Joppy was trying to win n taking chances.Bernard went the full 12 beating on Joppy who was absolutely determined to just survive.Ortiz should have finished Scott, but I'm not jumping off the Ortiz bandwagon just yet. I'm also on the Joshua bandwagon lol

I'm not sure if it's just that, as Scott was beyond being in survival mode. He didn't want to be there and basically wanted out every time he did get hit, which just wasn't flush very often. Joppy still took enough good shots for Hopkins and had some grit, bad a fight as that was.
What I'm not sure of is if there is a HW currently who could fight that negatively while still being able to mount enough offence, but to me Ortiz did look a bit slower than he has and really didn't show any variety. No doubt he's still going to be very dangerous if guys try and take the fight to him.
