Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
Liam Smith blew his weight for the fight today, and came in two pounds heavy. The age old question in this situation is, was he going to be so drained, and so chose to sacrifice making weight to get a better chance of the win, or was it just carelessness? I suppose it does add another dimension to the fight, but the cynic in me (and the fact that I'm pro Liam Williams) thinks Smith wanted to boost his chances and gave up trying to make the weight.

Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
The eight thing can both ways as you say. This might switch the edge back to Williams now.

Or because he didn't try to cut that last couple of pounds, it could swing to Smith because he will feel bigger and stronger. If he was 6 Lbs over like his brother was against Ward, you could think he had a sloppy camp, but he might have had a great camp and feel strong.
Looking forward to it, I hope the weight doesn't have a massive bearing on the result.

Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
FFS Sosa misses weight now too.
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
He came in at 130.4, stripped to 130.2. Has 2 hours to loss the rest. He should be fine tho.
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
Sosa has made the weight. Title is on the line.

I've had a couple of quid on Williams and Petrov to win, at about 11/1
I'm hoping Smith can do it though

Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
So, we're into the intros for the start of the bill. First up its the impressively original nickname Kid Dynamit Mark Heffron.
Watching back on the video for the weigh-in for the Liams, you can see Warren ask Gallagher "what's that about?", and Gallagher takes a step away from scales, like his breathing on it might drop Smith by nearly two pounds!
-
Is that on Boxnation then? Only on BT Sport they don't start showing the card till 8:30
-
Or are you there at the venue Rhun?
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
I'm watching it now on BoxNation, I'm guessing that BT don't have the whole card,
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
Just had a look and this part of the card is called 'premium pass' the the 'main events' start at 20:00, it comes on at 20:30 on BT

Sorry mate, looks like its only the Boxnation subscribers that get this part of the card. I thought BT Sport subs got Boxnation as an extra channel, but apparently not.

I used to have boxnation but spend so many Saturdays working usually that I cancelled the subscription and then the Mrs got Virgin cable. You can't even get Boxnation HD on Virgin. The BT Sports HD channel is free tonight though, I think to encourage boxing fans to subscribe

I didn't realize that HD was free on Virgin tonight, I'll have to switch over when it comes on if I remember

Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
couldn't tell you, I foolishly decided to restring my Banjo, took me fucking ages it did, I can restring a guitar in a matter of minutes, right fucking ball ache though that was.
anyway, it sounded pretty much like it was an easy night, stopped in the second or third I think
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
Here we go with the BoxNation bollocks - the reason Flanagan ain't a big name is everyone is ducking him - Linares, Garcia, Easter Jr. Yeah, I bet at least two out of the three have never even heard of him.
The new Warren signing Dubios (however the fuck you spell it) has been battering Joshua in sparring. As though thats not par for the course

Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe

BT Sport 1 will be showing the event live with coverage starting at 08.30.

Actually Boxnation coverage stopped at 8 which is why everyone is wondering where the card went
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
i've had the fights on Boxnation from about 5.30pm then main card on BT or Boxnation from 8.30pm, all through BT
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
this is shit this is, why put a few fights on at 5:30pm and then pull all live coverage for 1/2 hour at 8pm, fucking stupid.

Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
I thought my stream died, back on.
Nicola Adams is 1/2 (stake 100 to win 50) to sparko her opponent. Now as someone that's seen all her Olympic fights (when they happened) the thing that stood out more than her skill was the fact I could take her punches (well, technically I couldn't now, but in my pomp... maybe one or two.. or one).
I don't care how poor the Argentine girl is, Adams ain't sparking anyone without a hidden horseshoe
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
They're having the break until 8.30 because BT will take over. New presenters and what not. They've already had Big Ron Mc on the comms and mr boring cliche Richie Woodhall

Is Kelly v Dubois on now? Local lad Marcus ( Cornwall) and I am hoping he can pull of the upset or at least go the distance
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
Fuck it, I'm having a glass of rum:lhdevil:
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
It's on BT now, the Paul Dempsey presenting
Dubois first then
Cat-Geth
Smith-Will
Adams
Flan
They're talking about Adams as though it's her show. And they're not allowed to talk about Dubois ironing out AJ, they've mentioned it a million times since the middle of the week but they wont mention it again as Lawyers are involved

-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
Finished before the Anglophile can pronounce Dubois.
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
I normally don't drink when I'm watching the boxing but that rum has gone down a treat, I reckon there is every chance that I could be pissed by the time that the main even comes on
-
Re: BT Sport Boxing Launch Night - Lomachenko v Sosa, Smith v Williams, Flanagan v Pe
Dubois is the future world champion.

As for the following fight, Catterall looked good against decent domestic opposition. He's ready to move on to the next level.
