Robert Garcia got an up close look at him in the Maidana fight and he knows his shit. I think Broner is the absolute perfect opponent for Mikey to put on a real show here and let the world see just how talented he is. I expect a very one sided UD. I'm really looking forward to this one even allowing for the fact that after Maidana and Porter the enjoyment in watching Broner lose has decreased a lot.

I always loved trout. Saw him in a few bad fights after canelo but I still say to this day trout beat Alvarez but it was back when canelo was being groomed for the payday he is. I think that fight demoralized trout and he had troubles trying to come back. I'm not saying it was a blowout. Canelo put trout on the canvas but canelo ran out of steam and trout should have won that on the cards. I think it was sinco de mayo in southern Texas and the only way canelo could have won was by ko or tko. I will never forget that and I hope ggg puts a whooping on canelo.

I share your dislike for Canelo, but feel he did win a fairly close fight with Trout. It was BS though as open scoring was used which totally fucked Trout over and forced him to be more wreckless.

I agree with you sort of. The open scoring effected the fight. Trout heard the scores and adjusted poorly trying to be more aggressive and opening himself up to counters. But it should have been much closer when they announced the scores, maybe even Trout leading. The right man won but it was tainted

Yeh Trout has always come across as a real dude and love his story. I may need a rewatch of the Alvarez fight as I remember thinking it was Canelos fight to close but he choose to coast and put on a boxing show rather than press advantages. Think I had Canelo by about 2 or 3 points but the official scores read like they were handed in prior to the bell, but hey welcome to judging in Texas :p. Glad he's getting another shot with Hurd. Give Hurd a big strength advantage but all things considered it's a massive step up and an in shape focused and similar Trout that fought Charlo or Canelo gives Hurd absolute fits with that movement and counters, just do NOT trade with him in close.

I think Broner will win. I hope I am wrong but in shape and motivated at this new weight for Garcia I think he could do it.

I feel that generally when somebody drops more weight than they have to, it effects them adversely. It's like they do it to show they could easily make weight but in reality it was a bad idea.

Anyways, a focused broner is a good fighter, but I think very highly of Garcia. He is one of the best technically sound boxers in the world. I don't think that Garcia will let him fight his fight at all.

Oscar v Manny Pac was bad for the golden boy true so was Ali against Holmes but it could mean Broner is fit and motivated.

It's one thing doing the weight, and you might also feel you've done it properly. but we won't know till fight night if that's the case or not.
Garcia is an unbeaten fighter, it's a big thing . He doesn't know how to lose yet.
Like Broner or not, we can't deny that he a. Is game and tough and b. He doesn't shirk from a challenge.
All in all it could be a classic.

I'm shocked Broner actually made weight! Also noticed Warren v Arroyo on undercard which can be a nice scrap. Odd thing is how many 30 yr olds at bantamweight actually go down in weight after a big loss. Jarrell Miller comes in 298 :cwm13:. He and Gerald Washington will dwarf the ref but they better reinforce the ring.

Garcia by decision. Broner will have his moments, but Garcia has too good a skillset to let someone like Broner win the rounds. Broner might have a shot being the bigger man, but more likely than not puncher vs skillset sees the skillset coming out on top.

Saw a breakdown of this fight by someone knowledgeable(I forget who, perhaps Paulie???) saying that being so sound fundamentally will hurt Garcia. That what Broner does is slick vs traditional boxing. That he disrupts normal patterns and takes advantage of the disruption. And that that is why Broner had struggled more with unconventional fighters.

I couldn't really understand the breakdown. I've never seen Broner as being particularly slick or disruptive. I've always thought Broner took advantage of being bigger and faster than most of his opponents. And when he met with equal firepower he struggled.

Seeing Broner as the naturally bigger man is odd looking. Garcia has had ONE fight above 130, he looks small framed. Stylistically it won't be a great fight - Marquez-Norwood? Certain they'll be arguments unless one of them ends up flattened.

Broner's price has more than halved, I said it it was ridiculous weeks ago in this thread.

Broner is the much bigger man, and he's very strong and durable.

Garcia may be the better boxer, but I think there's a very good chance of Broner winning tonight.

Having last minute second guessing. I may very well have over rated Garcia in his rapid weight jump not to mention long layoff and underrated Broner on the basis of being Broner. That's an easy thing to do ;D. Still leaning Garcia ever so slightly but he needs to stay very disciplined and not sit inside.

i bet a few quid of the draw, i think it was around 20/1, although i think broner is being set up to be a gatekeeper now so the judges will side with garcia but broner is a talented fellow and is good at some things so it is worth a small bet i think.

The closer this gets, the more excited I am for this. Broner is bigger and is naturally talented. Garcia is just very good fundamentally. I'm still going with Garcia for sure, but I am just really interested to see how this fight turns out. If Garcia can win this fight easily, then that proves that he is a very legit fighter. Broner is no pushover though so I don't see him laying down for Garcia.

I'm just really interested in Garcias gameplan. Broner does what he does. His game plan won't change. Garcia has to have something good planned in order to make the statement he wants to. Many kudos to him though for taking a dangerous fight like this instead of staying at 135 and fighting a bum.

If the Broner that used to make 135 was fighting Garcia tonight , who would we go for? Who would be favourite?
This is one of those fights that is so intriguing, yet when it's all over , we'll all say, "Yeah, we shoulda known really." Or "Yeah, he's a 4 weight World Champ for a reason."
The smart money, (based on Broner's unreliability) is on a Garcia points win , probably UD, But you never know.

Obviously. Was just asking as Broner's got some pop and if he catches you clean he can hurt you. We've see Garcia clipped before. I think Mikey should try to set a high pace after a feeling out round or so, it's not his style but I think the weight cutting will catch up to Broner over the second half of the fight.

womens boxing has 2 minutes rounds... just not that interesting for me... Interested in miller v washington though, washington is a competent big man and a good test for miller, I am looking forward to seeing how he does.

3-0 for miller in my opinion, the first could have gone to washington S:... miller is pretty good, good hands and can get out of the way of punches but he is so big(300lbs :S) I think he needs to be a bit lighter as he is just so slow with everything and when he gets up against the top guys that will cause him problems, he is doing good here though

5-0 for miller lthough now he is looking a bit tired, he still gets in a few good hooks and uppercuts though... 298lbs and 193 cm tall :S and he doesnt look that fat either, that is a lot of muscles needing a lot of oxygen S: I am not sure his lungs can support him

fun 6th tound, washing does some damage in the first round but then miller comes back well and also does a good bit of damage right the end, I think miller edged it over the 3 mins :S... 6-0 miller.
