Michael Spinks defended against Gerry Cooney who he knocked out. Cooney was a big guy who could punch but had a dodgy chin....oh the irony ;)Quote:

6'6 240 ....with his hand speed and power....yes he has a lackluster chin and sometimes has stamina trouble (only with fighters that can punch, put the pressure on and have good stamina and a good chin). This means Joe Frazier, Ron Lyle, George Foreman, and maybe George Chuvalo would be favored vs Wlad. Ali is an all time great but I see a Wlad-Byrd type performance....Ali had trouble with tall guys with good boxing skill, the exact type Tyson had trouble with
People don't think Tyson would beat Marciano solely because of his size advantage. They believe so because of his simply being a better fighter. As skilled offensively as Wlad may be, his detriments far outway his assets, and that would be his downfall to virtually all world class fighters of the 70s.Quote:

Tyson might have had faster hands and a more technical approach to boxing but he wouldn't beat Marciano. Why? Heart, Chin, Stamina, the ability to carry power for 15 rounds, the ability to get up and win, the ability to KO someone when he NEEDED to.Quote:

Vitali would battle it out with those guys too
Tyson wouldn't beat Marciano. Tyson would annihilate Marciano. Marciano would be the equivalent of a tune-up for Mike on account of the fact that he would bring nothing to the table that Mike hadn't seen before. Marciano never saw anything on the same planet as Tyson. As far as Wlad, remember he's the weak link of the brothers, Vitaly would have more success, based on the fact that he had far less weaknesses, and since when do weaknesses not come into play when creating hypothetical matchups? Everyone has strength's and weaknesses, but you'll be hardpressed to find a fighter with more glaring weaknesses than Wlad, and that's why he would be conquered by so many.Quote:

the only problem with that statement is that chris byrd sucks and ali was fantastic and always got up for big fights...he woudl've treated this like the foreman fight.....he would have allowed wlad to punch himself out---and the slapped him silly like and kayoed him in 6 or 7--maybe sooner if wlad got gassed out quicker...........plain and simpleQuote:

2 foreman---george would probably knock him dead today at age 57 or whatever he is--seriously---wlad would get knocked out in the first round--period........
3 norton---ken would have kayoed wlad too.............wlad doesnt possess one punch kayo power per se and thats what norton was susceptible to...norton would have outhustled him until wlad gassed

I think that everyone should look at george Foreman a little closer before you make that comment. Vlad can hit hard and Foreman is not smart. Vlad can move and after the Ali fight he was just average. Foreman was only 6'3" and 224 not really that big by todays standards and training was not as strength oriented as today. I actually think that George was a better boxer when he came back. If george didn't knock Vlad out after about 4 rounds he would have lost. I am from that era.
Wladimer wouldn't possess the strategy to know what to do when Foreman hit him when Wlad gets buzzed on the chin his legs instantly go like Meldrick Taylor after the Chavez lost. Wlad has shot legs, he will look great but once his chin is tapped his legs go, much like the Roy Jones of today. I think Foreman would have beaten Wlad it would resemble the Ron Lyle fight and Wlad isn't as skilled as Jimmy Young and Jimmy Young and Muhammad Ali were the only people George lost to and Wladimer is not on their level. I wouldn't worry about Foreman getting tired, don't forget Foreman fought 8 bouts in one day after he lost to Ali to prove that it wasn't the case of him getting tired that Ali beat him.
Let me address the Tyson-Marciano talk. Rocky had everything to beat Tyson...HEART and DESIRE....Tyson was fast with his hands but ROUTINELY didn't fight on the inside which Rocky did....did I mention the Rock could break someone's neck with that uppercut he had....what did Tyson get hit with all his career?
Jess Willard was the first "Giant" heavyweightQuote:

1) Frazier's head movement didn't save him vs Foreman. I do think Frazier would beat him but it would take some time to corner Wlad and tire him out 5-7. BUT perhaps you could look at the Peter fight to guess the outcome, many knockdowns but lots of boxing between them.
2) Ali STILL HAD TROUBLE WITH TALL BOXERS...address it, Wlad can be related to Norton in the fact that he's tall and can box and has a lackluster chin. Wlad's faster, more powerful, and more athletic than Norton!
3) Yes I agree Foreman in his PRIME would destroy Wlad, he'd destroy tons of people, right now? Nah, he can stay away from a big stationary puncher for 12 rounds
4) Norton is an all time great but he didn't like fighting punchers, not Foreman, not Lyle, not Shavers...don't know what you mean that Wlad doesn't have one punch power, he sure as hell does he has it when he wants it but he boxes and doesn't slug it out....he sets up his punches.
5) Jimmy Young 34 wins 11 KO's : Sanders 40 wins 30 KO's; Brewster 33 wins 29 KO's; Purrity 30 wins 27 KO's......oh you guys are soooo right
As I have stated NUMEROUS times to beat Wlad Klitschko these must be done:
1) Take punishment (cross out Norton and Shavers[Quarry KO'd him in 1])
2) Apply pressure constantly
3) Have POWER ( cross out Young and Terrell, question about Ali here )
4) Have stamina (Shavers once again)
These reasons will A) ensure a Klitschko victory vs Byrd and B) make a fight with Lyahkovich GREAT
Rudy had heart and desire. Doesn't mean he's gonna be starting defensive end for the Pittsburg Steelers.Quote:

Marciano was the heavyweight version of Julio Cesar Chavez...he had a granite chin, won fights when he needed to, and got up to win....Tyson couldn't do that EVER, he had no heart and whoever wasn't scared of him had a shot and ROCKY would beat him...SUZY Q would stop the fight
