Linares fights have a similar pattern these days, he's got the pace he's fighting at off to a tee, and knows a couple of electric spurts per round makes it hard to not get a 10 on the card

It looks like Matthysse carries a bit of power up to 147. He's at least booked himself a fight against one of the top lads. Basically it was a grazing right which put him down for the first time and then he knocked him down with a jab. Nowhere near a performance that makes you think he can do much at the top 147 level though.
Hard to remember when a guy billed as one of the biggest punchers today scores a huge KO but HBO avoids a walk through replay..any replay..during interview.

I think that Matthysse looked a bit rusty and also the style of Kiram wasn’t fan friendly. It just took a while for Matthysse to get to him. I don’t think he is what he once was, but I think he can make some decent fights at welter.

You can actually hear Matthysse connect with the first Knockdown and the second one it seems unreal because of the speed and accuracy of it. Believe me it's really hard to see KO punches at times for this reason. It's also masked by the camera being behind Matthysse and him throwing the same left twice. Like an opponent you can look for twitches and give aways, but the fact you don't see it gives punchers like Matthysse that leeway to catch an often better all round boxer.

then again has anyone noticed Spence shaking his head more now? He's complained of blows to back of head in recent fights and he is taking shots more flush. Tremendous brutal arsenal but he gets hit, can't deny it.
Yes I have noticed it. He is so efficient and punishing with his own work he sometimes neglects to avoid incoming work, that while is not going to necessarily put him on his arse is not good for his long term game, and when you are as potentially as good as him you should have plans for a long term game. I still call Crawford fight 50-50 with slimmest of lean to Spence today. Crawford himself has been tagged and is also prone to clowning a bit and leaving openings. Maybe both just get bored as both get to a point where we know a fight is certainly all but over but they just keep beating a guy up.
