Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
That deal is ridiculous! It’s one of those very fortunate things where Canelo is a good fighter, but because he is Mexico’s best fighter, the whole country of Mexico supports and watches him.
I honestly don’t at all see him lasting at his current level for 11 fights. It’s a great deal for him though because even if he keeps losing, he still makes a ton of money. So at this point maybe he will fight the best fighters because there is no chance of him losing out on future earnings.

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
Let's not forget that DAZN is only $120 a year compared to 2 Canelo PPV fights a year that cost around $160
As well as The MMA stuff and all the Matchroon/Hearn UK/US fights you get all of GBP back catalogue on demand and 11 of their shows too.
It's a no brainer for $10 per month
The DAZN-Golden Boy deal includes a large production element, which places Oscar De La Hoya as Executive Producer of the 12 live fight nights annually. The live productions will be a collaboration between DAZN and Golden Boy Media and Entertainment, De La Hoya’s in-house production arm, and will push the boundaries of traditional boxing shows by incorporating new features with virtual graphics and social media interaction.
Oscar De La Hoya’s 7,000-hour library of fights spanning his career as a boxer and a promoter are included in the partnership and these classic bouts will be available on DAZN. Additionally, Golden Boy Media and Entertainment will produce volumes of shoulder programs for the DAZN platform, including live studio shows such as “Between the Ropes” and its award winning “Mano a Mano.”

Eddie Hearn is like a pig in shit 😁
I agree with him that this is the begining of the end of PPV in Boxing and possibly (as Bob Arum is suggesting) the death of Showtime Boxing.

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
Another good thing about this deal is GBP and Hearn possibly working together. A Rey Vargas vs Daniel Roman super-bantam unification has already been discussed.

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
Makes you think Oscar & Eddie wanna wipe out the old timers and dominate boxing for a long long time.
One born with a silver spoon in his mouth and one who loves a wooden spoon up his ass.
Perfect combo, Brilliant platform.
Expect the "De La Hoya elbow deep in Hearn at drug fuelled tupperware party" pics to surface soon....

Also just thinking that DAZN could have all the middleweight title holders by the end of this month.

That would be awesome, Hearn was saying that Andrade could also do a voluntary against Saunders if he wins the title.

Which is why Saunders withdrew his appeal on the agreement he gets the next shot.

Hearn will take him under his arm.

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
Golovkin is on the verge of signing with DAZN I've just read.
Long term I don't see anyone other than maybe ESPN being able to compete with them.
-
Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
"Sources: DAZN has aggressively pursued Gennady Golovkin, and the sides are in advanced talks,” said Mike Coppinger on his Twitter. “GGG promoter Tom Loeffler hoping to wrap a deal up soon ahead of a spring return for the former middleweight champ #boxing.”

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
Hearn is like a dog with 2 dicks probably one of the top premoters in boxing.
I don't know weather it is a good or bad thing time will tell.

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
Is like a jack of all trades with his hands inside every cookie jar. It could end up in a spectacular self-destruction but for now it is certainly stirring things up and getting some action going. Triple G definitely needed some action going. If Triple G wants his legacy he should fight every 3 months for the next year or two and then retire

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
DAZN has decided to significantly cut their boxing budget. Seeing no return on their investment getting around 1% of US streaming market. This they say now means they will no longer overpay fighters to bring them to their platform.
Not sure the exact significance of this, it could mean they intend to carry on with what they have and try to compete on even ground. But nobody has DAZN so it’s not really even ground. I can’t see why a fighter would hide away for equal money. If money is the same better to be seen. My guess is it’s lip service from the CEO to pacify the board.

I get DAZN for free and so do millions of other IPTV users which doesn't help them.
Who actually pays for PPV these days?
What's the source of your info on DAZN cutting back?

Was talking with a couple local promoters this morning then searched online after hearing what they were saying and found a clip of Eddie saying the same thing just with far less details.
Just one example of many reporting

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
The source is Mike Coppinger on TWITTER - Joe Markowski of DAZN tells The Athletic the days of inflated purses are over at DAZN, and that they had to pay a market-entry premium
That's it. Nothing else. There's no reports (why would there be?). No comment from Eddie or anyone.
The video provided is just a race baiting retard pretending to his race baiting retarded viewers that he scooped a story.

In just one year, DAZN has grown into a must-have for boxing fans
Joe Markowski said DAZN’s budget for fighters isn’t going to be as large as it was in the beginning when it was trying to establish itself in the marketplace.
It paid overwhelming amounts of money to fighters, in some cases 10 and 20 times what they were offered elsewhere. Alvarez signed a 10-fight, $365 million contract that has largely been a blessing for the network, though it needs to figure out how to make him take the fights which make sense, like the one against Golovkin. DAZN also gave Golovkin a deal that exceeds $100 million, and that contract is something of an anchor if Alvarez won’t fight him. Golovkin has fought Steve Rolls on the DAZN banner so far, and is scheduled to meet Sergiy Derevyanchenko next month. Neither are going to be the kind of subscription driver DAZN imagined.
If Golovkin doesn’t fight Alvarez again down the road, they may regret talking him out of a deal that Golovkin had reached with ESPN. Golovkin shook hands with ESPN executives on a contract, only to change his mind and go to DAZN.
But the misses have been far less than the hits for DAZN, and it’s positioned well for the future.
Few had ever heard of it at this time last year. The fact that it’s a must-have for the boxing fan speaks to the job that was done in 12 short months.
It needs to do better going forward, and land even more of the compelling fights like Alvarez-Kovalev than it did in its first year.
But DAZN gets no worse than an A- for Year 1 and it’s positioned itself well to be the biggest player in the sport for years.
Looked at from that perspective, it’s been an incredible 12 months.

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
Dazn and beinsports need to do a a full merge/takeover, if they manage that they will be in a great position, they had an agreement last year but can't come to terms on a deal this year and it doesn't seem to be benefiting either in north America right now... Dazn is also active in more that just America and has some really good stuff on it, I really hope they succeed, it's great value for money right now..
Dazn is a stupid name too get merged with beinsports and find a proper name and sort it out.

Re: Eddie hearn set to announce major u.s. Streaming partnership with dazn
DAZN has done really well on the boxing front from a fans perspective. I think that they have easily put on the best fights out of the rest of the services (showtimes, PBC, and ESPN). Possibly Ron is right and they put out too much money and will soon go bankrupt. I haven’t read about that but it could be true. I have no idea.
The main thing is that DAZN has been good for fans. Canelo fights alone make getting it worth it because otherwise they would all be PPV. Other streaming services need to follow their lead and get rid of PPV.
