Re: Whyte vs Parker
Honestly not getting the excitement behind this card... Main event is decent as far as being the kind of fight that should happen more often, but style wise, it has tepid written all over it. I think whyte is just good enough to bring out the Parker who just does enough, would probably put money on it being a stinker. As for the undercard, its basically chisora vs Takam, no? On paper none of the other fights should be remotely competitive, maybe I’m wrong?

Did you watch Connor Benn v Cedrick Peynaud yet?
One of the most competitive fights i saw in 2017, absolute tear up over 6 rounds.
On paper that should steal the show.
I think Takam v Chisora has war written all over it and expect it to be an all out slug fest.
I also think Parker v Whyte goes off too as it's pretty much a must win for each fighter and there's no way Parker will want it going to points if it's cagey and close especially in the UK.
Whytes looking better with every fight and i think will want the KO that Joshua couldn't get over Parker.
Whyte a rudeboy street thug and loves a tear up ;D

lets be honest though, it was a very low level fight. being competitive is the standout, if connor had adifferent dad, nobody would think anything of it.

I feel bad for Ortiz, dude is better than almost every heavyweight out there, they just won’t fight him.
I'm really not sure what your problem is here , Ron? Ortiz isn't totally avoided , after all , he's just fought (and lost) for a World Title in his last fight. And I believe the Whyte fight would've been a final eliminator for another shot. If Whyte doesn't fight him, it means he fights someone ranked lower in this eliminator therefore given him a much better chance of winning.
consequently that means he could go Title Shot , Eliminator with a lesser ranked fighter, Title Shot in 3 fights . Most guys would give their right arm to be avoided that much!!!!!
Furthermore, Ortiz has been his own worst enemy for not having the big fights sooner. Drug ban , changing promoters every 5 minutes, lack of dedication and application to mention just a few things . I'm really not sure he warrants too much of your pity .
As far as Whyte/Parker goes , people like it because Whyte is taking on a recent WORLD Champion, and Parker is taking on somebody very High up every governing Bodies rankings. what's not to like?
you might say "but, but, but Whyte has given up an eliminator." well to be honest , he's fought loads of eliminators and got overlooked by the governing bodies anyway, so it shows what meaning that has.
Wait, I mention fighters not wanting to fight Ortiz and your argument that fighters will fight him is that it's okay Whyte won't fight him because the sanctioning bodies recognize he's good? That makes no sense, Apple's to oranges.
Perhaps you missed the sarcasm. I don't actually give two squirts about Ortiz. What I care about is the Ortiz fight has been there for Whyte and he talked about Pulev and people we're okay with that direction because "it's an easier path". We aren't supposed to root for fighters to take an easier path. Not Pulev, then Parker, again a lesser fighter.
I mean Parker owes Hughie Fury a rematch because of that weak performance.
Ortiz actually fought to win in his last outing unlike Parker. Perhaps that was his mistake.
Oh pls god Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Maybe Pulev and Ortiz can fight, maybe Ortiz/ Povetkin. Hopefully some of these guys start to fight each other.
Disappointed with Brooks opponent. There's no easy road to a title for him now. He's going to wait on Khan.
It would have been even better a few years ago because that could have been a darkhorse fight of the year candidate as well! But I think those two will have a good fight. I like Takam's style, he's a hard worker in there. Hopefully they both come in fighting fit shape and have a phone booth brawl.
Pulev has been a great disappointment, I think Wlad ruined him to be honest. I mean yeah he's bounced back a bit, but he's not fighting fresh fighters hell he fought Sam Peter just recently, he fought Chisora recently, those aren't the up and comers of the division that they were in say 2010 or so. He's done himself no favors. That said I'd still like to see him mix it up with the CURRENT fresh blood in the division.
Who waits on fighting Amir Khan? That is craziness.

When he has to go through Hurd, Jermell, Munguia or Castano to get a belt, I reckon Brook does.

Amir Khan isn't close to getting a belt either, why wait? It's not going to be a bigger fight than it is right now, actually both of them missed the window years ago for a truly big fight between them.

Yea that's what I mean, Brook isn't going to take any risks against the titleholders at 154, he'll tread water until they can make the Khan fight.

Re: Whyte vs Parker
David Haye opens gym to Joseph Parker again ahead of bout vs. Dillian Whyte
David Haye is offering his London gym to Joseph Parker again so Parker can complete training for his heavyweight fight vs. Dillian Whyte on July 28.
Haye, the former WBA heavyweight champion, also opened the gym to Parker in preparation for Parker's unanimous decision loss to unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in March.
"David seems to have been very good to us from our first fight up there," Parker's promoter, David Higgins, told Sky Sports . "David's been very helpful, we're very grateful. David has been very accommodating. I'm sure that he and Joseph will discuss tactics and stuff like that. The use of the facilities has been invaluable; they are private, hidden and quiet, and near the hotel."
Whyte didn't seem surprised by Haye allowing Parker to return to his gym. He believes his fellow countryman has never been supportive of his career and is just looking to get under his skin.
Whyte's comments didn't surprise Higgins in the slightest.
"I think that Dillian Whyte's permanently pissed off," Higgins said. "He's a fiery sort of guy and it will be interesting to see how that goes in the ring.
"I'm sure Dillian does understand that Joe does need to use a gym. It's business and Haye understands that it's business. Everyone likes Joseph, he's a likable guy. Haye and our team get on well."
The winner of Parker vs. Whyte at London's O2 Arena will be set up to face Joshua in 2019. Joshua's next fight will be against Alexander Povetkin on Sept. 22 at Wembley Stadium in London.

Watch the card keep dropping the big fights.
-
Re: Whyte vs Parker
This is still a great card without Brook.
I reckon Parker will get this on points and be too quick for Dillian.
-
Re: Whyte vs Parker
I heard Egginton is stepping in for Brook. That's more of an even match up I guess.

Re: Whyte vs Parker 28th July 2018 Sky Bollox Office
Just assuming this won't be airing Stateside? I don't get that, both off major bouts and accounts aired here. Parker strikes me more 'solid' with more options v Whyte but would like to see Whyte win it.

So would I, I think Parker bottled it against AJ and Whyte gave it a try and would do so again.
Who wants to watch Parker v Aj 2?
-
Re: Whyte vs Parker 28th July 2018 Sky Bollox Office
Starting to wonder how hungry Parker really is after seeing him at the weigh in yesterday, he's nowhere near the shape he was in against AJ, hes only had a 6 week training camp for this fight and he got paid a massive guaranteed £13 Million against AJ so really doesn't need the £1Million hell earn tonight.
Style wise this could be a classic.
Chisora v Takam is a nailed on war so really looking forward to that one and if Benn v Peynaud is anything like last years war it's gonna be a brilliant night.

Re: Whyte vs Parker 28th July 2018 Sky Bollox Office
I’d forgotten all about this fight until reading this thread updates . Not seen it being hyped anywhere either.
That’s tonight sorted
-
Re: Whyte vs Parker 28th July 2018 Sky Bollox Office
Got a feeling Been will be double wary of Peynaud tonight and box but I hope we get more of the same as last time which was one of the fights of the year domestically.
Chisora v Takam is set to be an absolute bloodbath, both are just gonna plow forward and have it in a phone box I reckon.
Also think Whytes gonna have to make it ugly for Parker and drag him into a street fight so I'm hoping Parker stands toe to toe as well. If he does that could be a belter.
-
Re: Whyte vs Parker 28th July 2018 Sky Bollox Office
looking forward to this, just ordered my pizza so that should arrive shortly after the program starts.
I still get the feeling that the main event could be a let down but I'm looking forward to seeing Benn v Peynaud and Del Boy v Takam
I reckon Benn will beat Peynaud easy this time round, he had over trained before the first fight and had a fight just a few weeks before, I remember thinking it was risky before the fight even started.
Del Boy v Takam will hopefully just be the two of them in a phone box like Smashup said.

Nice ko... I was surprised Obrien didn't go done earlier, fowler did a lot of damage to the body in the previous few rounds..
On dazn in Canada

Re: Whyte vs Parker 28th July 2018 Sky Bollox Office

yeah he almost exclusively worked the body, you could see that they were hurting him in the round or two before the KO
-
Re: Whyte vs Parker 28th July 2018 Sky Bollox Office
I was correct, Anna is looking lovely.
Bellew looks like he is wearing one of Froch's shirts, it looks 2 sizes too small for him, he is obviously taking his heavyweight status seriously.
Fowler calling out Cheesehead, I think there is only one winner in that one.

Re: Whyte vs Parker 28th July 2018 Sky Bollox Office
I think Allen should knock it on the head after this one like the commentators were just talking about.
He's got the deposit on his house which is what he wanted to do, he doesn't have the skills to do anything unless he just fights bums on undercards because he has a decent fan base, I'll always watch his fights but if he steps up in class he will never win
-

20 Canadian quids a month. .. they have more than boxing. In fact very little boxing. I don't have any sports channels on TV. Just hbo for boxing which has become very sporadic
