Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Wow even on one card. They really make it hard to trust boxing and these fans are stupid
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Charlo failing badly with the angling metaphors. I love you LA!
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Horn is putting up a decent performance but Crawford's class is showing. I think he's going to stop him late.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Crawford dominating in round five. Ref pulls them together and Horn's body language is he knows he's going to lose.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Tyson ranting like that about Holyfield "quitting" sounds even more nuts after all these years. Mikey Garcia and Robert Easter Jr announced ???.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Horn running out of steam at the end of eight. Crawford pouring it on and nearly had him out of there. Massive shot on the bell almost had him down.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Spring is out of Horn's legs. Horn down! Ref lets him go on but stopped!
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Horn was better than I expected but Crawford is the bollocks. Byrd did a good job stopping it when he did. A British stoppage!
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Awesome opening round. Mares looks good. Another west coast Vazquez Marquez trilogy?
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Ok to be clear I like Cruz always have but mares is my boy. I’m pulling for him but that may be the kiss of death
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
I've got Mares up two at the end of two. It's going to be down to the judges here. Can Mares keep this up? Santa Cruz not producing the volume.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Gotta respect Santa Cruz road to the riches and story. Mares looks stronger early. Point deduct for the Arthur Fonzarelli hair though. Nice counters by Leo mid 3rd
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Santa Cruz better 3rd much sharper, Mares winding up late. Damn fine scrap early.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Good job by Santa Cruz catching him coming in and going away in 4th. Mares looks bit sluggish all the sudden. They show Mares highlights :-X.

I admire his hair. I have almost no hair now. Mares looking good. Santa Cruz not the offensive output machinr he used to be and mares has amazing balance and skills to counteract the size and reach.

Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Have 3-2 Santa Cruz able to fight both directions. He keeps his head he's a sharp little puncher. Mares getting caught bad in these mixes in 6th. Fun fight!
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
U and farhood are judging the same

That alone is scary shit ;D. See Santa Cruz boxing his ears last few rounds. Dude is beating him to the punch, all sizes. Mares has to mash the gas.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Trilogy not looking like a good bet.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
5-3 Santa Cruz. Mares stepping it up in 6th. Solid headbutt by Mares. Shocked.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Ref ruled cut from a punch after clear butt take his keys. 6-3 Santa Cruz here. Cleaner frequent work with the hands.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
6-4 Santa Cruz, Mares needs to pressure up these last two rounds and sustain an attack.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
7-4 Santa Cruz. Since when do refs wear advertisements on their backs ???. Seems kinda misguided.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Pretty good scrap! Have Santa Cruz 8-4 first impression
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
They put on a good show. I didn’t see the judges card yet but I won’t be intretested in a trilogy
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
That's big respect from two professionals in the post fight. Mares class act talking on Leos Dad there.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
I don't want to see a trilogy either. At the end of the day it was one sided. Decent enough fight though. Some decent fights tonight on both cards.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Thanks kirk ,spics and everyone. I’m off today and this reminded me of the good old days and I’d be talking on the forum while watching a fight. Despite both my guys loosing it was great to participate again

Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Man Crawford puts on a great fight and grabs another weight class belt not he has had titles at 135, 140 and 147 can not wait to see his next fight best in boxing at the moment keeps getting better.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
My thoughts on some of the fights
Trout is still a solid fighter, but he just has stiff competition. In a weaker division, he could grab a belt. He has had to fight Canelo, Lara, both Charlos, and Hurd. Although I thought he beat Canelo, but he hasn’t had an easy road during his career. Charlo looked sharp and I still think he beats Hurd.
Crawford completely outclassed Horn. Horn did make a good showing for himself though. I would actually be interested to see how Horn would fair against the welters outside of Crawford and Spence. I think he could give fighters like Garcia and Porter a run for their money. I have no idea who Crawford fights next though because everyone is going to be ducking him.
I was rooting for Mares to win, but I think styles make fights and Cruz is a bit too long for Mares to have a lot of success. I like Santa Cruz though. I think that he is underrated. I really hope that him and Russell fight to unify. Santa Cruz has shown that he is more than just a brawler. He knows how to pick his shots and set up his offense. He is also decent at defense.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Charlo is solid and doesn’t move back. Trout got off some good ones but the two knockdowns really made it difficult. It seems the loss to canelo which I believe he one set upon him a rough go. Crawford is a freak, he can turn it up whenever he wants and dominate. He has a hell of a career in front of him

Arum says no Spence before it is PPV. I don’t think that’s far off anyway if they move Crawford to real ESPN for a couple fights. ESPN prefers him over Loma at this point because Loma has consistently had bad numbers.
So the perfectly logical thing is Spence vs Porter/Garcia winner and Crawford vs Porter/Garcia loser then Spence vs Crawford if Thurman hasn’t re-entered the fray.

Welcome bro. Good to have members and guests talking it up in rbrs. Great perspectives and opinions. It's what makes the place what it is. Far better than constantly slapping each other around about dumb politics ;D.
Very impressed with Santa Cruz, he and Russell jr would be a barn burner.

Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
I'm not entirely convinced Jermell beats Hurd, but it's a fight I want to see. Trout is still good enough to hang in there with these guys, I think he has another couple of good fights in him.
Mares fought a much better fight I though. It aws another good scrap. I had it about 7-5 Santa Cruz.
It kind of sucked having the 2 cards clash, I hate when that happens. Trying to watch 2 fights at once is annoying.
Crawford is a magnificent fighter. I can only dream of a Crawford/ Spence fight. I don't think it's the end for Horn but he's at a lower level to the elite.

Ya the politics is fun but working weekend third shift has really messed me up with the live boxing. I have to catch it several days later and by then u guys have moved on. Before switching to nights I was here for all the weekend fights. It’s great to talk boxing and get away from all the politics......#freetommy

You shouldn't be convinced Charlo beats Hurd, Hurd is the more proven fighter. But I think Hurd's style is more suited to Charlo than Trouts. Charlo wants to get off big shots. That's easier when your target is right there. The question is if those big shots are big enough to slows Hurd's own work down. Fascinating fight.
While we all day how great Crawford is I still wonder if he is greater than we recognize. Dude can fight amazing southpaw or orthodox. Not just in sports but can fight a whole fight however he chooses at world championship level. Like Hagler. It's remarkable
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
I really want to see Charlo fight Hurd, but I honestly don’t think that Hurd has a big chance to win. Styles make fights. I think that Charlo uses his one twos on him the whole fight. Hurd is very easy to be hit and Charlo won’t take long breaks like Lara did.

Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Crawford is good, but Horn flattered him a lot. Horn's accuracy and combination punching were awful. I really think it tells us more about where Manny is than anything else. I like Horn a lot, but he was shown up somewhat. He is a Katsidis level fighter and there is no shame in that.
Crawford needs to fight the best WW's now. This was not particularly meaningful.
-
Re: Showtime: Santa Cruz v Mares II and Charlo v Trout / Crawford-Horn
Most of the top welters are with Haymon, Crawford may have to face Vargas, or Benavidez while waiting for that to pan out. I hope Spence keeps to his word and comes afters Crawford's belt.

Manny beat Horn
