Example: I abhor what happened to George Floyd and I will continue abhorring it. I will continue thinking it's way past due for some meaningful police reform and societal reforms on racial disparities.
And if you look around, you'll find many people maybe further to the left who share my same feelings.

I don't miss Cleese's point at all. He's speaking of the British right-wing which at that time was still rather different than the Republicans and Libertarians, but I welcome the humor and critique from him. He's speaking from a place of balance, something which needs to be restored.
