devin haney v regis prograis sounds like it's now happening in december
-
Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
apparently frank martine has withdrawn himself from the shakur fight. unless he's fighting tank next, it's a bad look. edwin de los santos could step in to face shakur

Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
Really disappointed with Martin and the pbc direction. Lots of rumor and claims...he has Tank lined up...James doesn't think he's ready etc. Who knows. But it's a confounding reality today that a 7 year pro about to turn 29 just inexplicably walks away from guaranteed title shot and million dollar payday. What an era.
And Haney vs Prograis great. But on PPV, not so great. Yet another one we'll be catching via bunk stream or not at all.

Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
gustavo lemos has been removed as the ibf mandatory

I don't know the details
But what a mess :-\
De Los Santos is still a good fight
The business side of the sport sucks
Give me a fighter like Inoue in every division please

Guessing it comes down to Martin holding out for more money. Which makes zero sense coming off that razor thin win he had last out. Yet so many fans are like "he should" as if 1 million is chump change.
Guys don't seem to grab opportunity as it presents itself. Santos is getting a big shot here and while Shakur is heavy fav he'd be wise to not overlook a last resort. We've seen that go bad before.

Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
I can't believe the number of people calling Prograis a cherry-pick :-X. Granted it's not the fight I wanted but it was pretty clear Haney needed and wanted to go up. But to dismiss Prograis...much doing with his last snoozer and Shakur-Haney falling out...is shortsighted bonkers.
But not quite as bonkers as thinking this will do well on PPV :vd:. This sport continues to stifle its fanbase growth and frustrate the stubborn old heads that stuck around. You simply cannot ask fans to PAY for 2,3 PPVs in a single month. Just foolish.

Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
For whatever reason, I reckon Haney gets a lot of unwarranted stick from the boxing community.
He needed to go up, and he’s always fought for titles rather than “money fights” . Prograis didn’t look great in his last fight, but that doesn’t mean much. He’s a legitimate champ at the weight division that Haney is going into.
Ps. On another point , I may have been asleep , but on Boxrec, it’s says that Josh Taylor is “banned indefinitely” by the NYSAC?
Anybody refresh my memory?
-
Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
Haney is starting to build a nice little run
I just can't get the image of him holding on for dear life against Linares
Or his struggles with Lomachenko
I think Prograis will be a much tougher fight than some are suggesting

I understand, but soak up the atmosphere will you see the press conference and weight in? That would be cool if you get Loma's autograph.
I am a big fan of Loma.

Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
apparently sandor martin has accepted step aside money, so devin's wbc super lightweight belt will be on the line against king ry
-
Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
Trying to get up for that one but largely the pop and hype will be in the buildup. I'm pretty convinced Haney will put a one sided masterclass on Ryan.
-
Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
I respect Ryan Garcia for getting in the ring & taking on these guys like Davis & Haney
The fights are not competitive though imo
Any journeyman does the same & for a pitance of what Garcia gets
Hell I'd put my hand up to fight Davis or Haney for the purses Ryan is getting ;D
-
Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
tank v frank martin is rumoured to be happening
-
Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
king ry is now saying the fight should be in vegas, not new york. must want to avoid those taxes. sandor better be on standby
-
Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
Ryan is ridiculous. Good thing his brain trust and organizers thought to consult the little diva before the fight was officially signed and announced . They're busy considering their millions and Joe Fan is considering hotel, travel and fight date expenses. All this does is cast doubt in the fans and again is an example of he and promotion being on different pages.
I get it. Taxes suck. But getting real tired of fans running on like personal accountants. This era is um different.

Re: What's next for Haney, Lomachenko & the Lightweight division?
I like the fight
My interest in Martin dipped after he turned down the Stevenson fight
Both fighters will be coming of long breaks :-\
