Ironic listening to NFL fans complain that for the first time in history a major playoff game will not be televised on network tv, only streamed :-X. For the first time ever boxing is actually ahead of other sports eh. Btw Basketball is the only sport that can turn 60 seconds into 20 minutes ;D
Maloney vs Sanchez sounds like it was a real corker. One of the better fights so far 2024!
christian mbilli v rohan murdock coming up
Mbilli has quite a few holes in the D department. Muscle bound and winding up too much. Takes 1st
rohan taking punishment at the end of the second round
Big beard on Murdock! Mbilli landing punches from the parking lot. Short but telegraphed. Uppercuts would do wonders on Mbilli but he is doing what he does best, winning 4-0. Wonder how his gas tank is
rohan showing heart but he's outgunned
could easily stop it here
Murdock nearing the end but he's not going without his back fitted to the shield. Corner may come in here after the 5th though.
Respects to Mbilli but he and the announce crew need to slow walk the Canelo talk..
Shiner under right eye forming on Mbilli
Didn't think he'd last but Murdock won the 6th...annnd corner stops it.
corner ends it after the sixth round
Had a vision that Smith gets Beterbiev seriously hurt in 2nd :wackomz4:. Hey, let's just hope for a two way action fight. Until it's over.
Beterbiev ends round as he started it...Smith along ropes ducking between harsh whipped hooks.
gave the first to artur
gave the second to callum
Better 2nd by Smith. Established himself stayed tall and down the middle. Think he edged that one. But it's also very dangerous when Beterbiev gets quiet. Doing all the sizing up for the next volley.
third to artur
Beterbiev breaking out the carving tools in 3rd. Man just has a great punch selection. Stopped that forward movement of Smith right off.
Good god. Beterbiev mugging him on ropes brutally mid 4th. That distance has evaporated.
Smith made a stand last 30 seconds landed crisp with a few shots.
callum had to survive some tough moments over the first half of the fourth
gave artur the fifth
Smith soaking up damage in 5th. Brought his brass tonight and trying to get off but he's getting diced up with power counters and combo leads.
Smith aiming for the belt line and can't blame him. Tries to time Beterbiev end of round.
callum down twice in the seventh & he stays down, corner enters the ring to end it as well
This is brutal primal shit here. Smith stood until he couldn't and McGirt waves it. Great call. Beterbiev is a calculating buzzsaw.
Poor scousers.
At least they have the Premiership to cheer about!
Just watched it. Not really seen him before. How come he's only had twenty fights at that age. How is that beard legal... Lots of questions
Time to research
Beterbiev has 400+ amateur fights so does not need to have too many professional contest to gain experience.
Artur fought a brilliant fight this time last year against Yarde. He is making the most out of his professional career.
Bring on Bivol for the undisputed.
The man is a legend.
Just watched the fight and Beterbiev showed a masterclass in performance.
Artur controlled the pace and distance of the contest. He took apart Callum resistance with his destructive jab. Beterbiev punches were efficient and attack effective throughout.
Yarde gave Beterbiev a much harder fight and tried to fight at a much higher pace to tire the older man which nearly worked.
Eddie is low to publish the adverse results and is talks nonsense when he said that Smith would knock out Beterbiev.
Bring on the unification later this year against Bivol.
Canelo is lucky he never chose Beterbiev when he ventured to the division.
If that’s Canelo’s luck , he’d better stay out of the casinos! Bivol completely outclassed him.
I agree with pretty much everything else you said though.
Beterbiev looked superb, footwork was spot on, ring control was perfect.
Styles make fights and you put a lot of praise on Yarde, but I would quite like to see Yarde v Smith. I still think Smith might be too savvy for Yarde.
Beterbiev v Bivol needs to happen and fast! Because the longer it goes on , the more chance of an “old man” excuse, which would be a terrible shame.
buddy mcgirt was really pleading with smith to get off the ropes.

did anyone expect anything different to happen? This is the same Smith that Canelo beat up.
A savage beatdown wasn't it. Smith had his moments. He won round two, did some decent work to the body that made Beterbiev take note. But he was ultimately outgunned and out of his depth. I laughed the other day when Yarde was being interviewed and he put himself top of the Brit light heavies pile. Smith in second, Buatsi in third. It's a fucking damning indictment, but he might have a point. I don't rate Yarde one bit. He's strong but fundamentally lacking. He put up a much much better fight than Smith did.
Bivol Beterbiev is going to be something else.
The beauty of Bivol - Beterbiev matchup is that they can potentially be each other's kryptonite.
Bivol has the skills to outbox Beterbiev and Beterviev has the power and style to knock Bivol out.
This is one of the most intriguing matchups in a long time, and that's why it needs to happen.
To me ? And this is just my opinion, in these elite Bull Vs Matador matchups, most of the time the Matador usually wins. Bivol is all wrong for Beterbiev but it would be competitive UD win.
Bivol is
- Younger
- Faster
- Better Defence
- Better Distance Control
- Insane Cardio
- Better Foot Work
Also, I don't think Beterbiev hits as hard as people make out
Bear with me
- He knocked down Callum Smith down two times. He got up two times.
- He knocked down Anthony Yarde down one time. He got up one time.
- He knocked down Joe Smith two times. He got up two times.
All of them ended the fight on their feet.
I've never seen a ref say "7. 8, 9, 10" in any Beterbiev fights
MIKE TYSON USED TO KNOCK EM OUT FOR THE COUNT OF THIRTY
The real big hitters, they knock em out COLD.
Beterbiev doesn't KO anyone cold.
All guys Beterbiev fought in his championship fights had something in common. They all felt in love with their power too much and tried to KO him at some point. Bivol is nothing like that, and he also knows he is not a hard puncher. So far, we know Beterbiev stops all hard punchers in his division. Let's see how he does against a master boxer, younger than him.
As to the Smith fight ? I made a post accusing Artur of being a drug cheat. I'm still very suspicious about Beterbiev (What 39 yr old has the testosterone levels of a 20 yr old man ?) but I deleted it. Coz I guess it has to be innocent till proven guilty
Smith got outboxed terribly. This fight was a prime example of levels. Hearn and Warren are the BEST promoters in the world at finessing the rankings and getting these B- level guys into title shots without fighting all the hard fights that they should have to get there.
We have seen it too many times now. These over-hyped and overrated Brits. The Lee Selby's, Lawrence Okolie's, Nathan Cleverly's, Sonny Edward's, Anthony Crolla's and James DeGale's. And getting told by "experts" that the Brits have "a genuine chance" when they go in against someone serious.
I'm guessing this Adam Azim dude is going to "the next big thing", probably sneak a world title via a vacant belt then fight someone elite like Shakur, Haney, Teo or Tank or even a Ryan G or Rolly and lose badly.
It would be better for British and world boxing if these guys fought the opponents they were supposed to and only the very best British fighters got world title shots. Which would mean about 90% less Brits in pointless world title fights.
Anyway, will the Saudis give Bivol 22-foot ring ? Don't matter, I see casuals keep on underrating Bivol, nothing new here.
They did the same thing before Canelo fight. Than Ramirez fight. You never learn.
Great post and agree with most of it. I too have a sneaky feeling for Bivol and while I totally agree with the Bull/Matador analogy by and large, I think it’s a tiny bit disparaging to neglect Beterbiev’s Boxing skills.
Because he knocks every one out, everyone focuses on this, but he has very good footwork and movement, especially for a guy his age.
Looking forward to this so much.
