Wardley was losing the round and hurt but Wardley rocks Parker and nearly stops him in round 10!!!!
Crazy contest.
fabio with the stoppage in the eleventh
might have been a bit early but joe was on the ropes not throwing back
Wardley stops Parker!!!!
What a great contest and 2 judges had Parker well ahead at the time. Wardley needed the stoppage to win and he did in the 11th round.
even primo carnera has to start giving fabio some credit soon but oleksandr probably stops him. even though justis got stopped by fabio he was putting on a clinic
Everyone who loves boxing should watch this fight in its entirety. It was an exciting and dramatic contest.
Parker was stronger and bigger dominating with his jab. Wardley boxed well using his footwork to get out of corners and stay dangerous with his right hand.
Parker was slowly hurting Wardley and was going to win on points. However Parker couldn’t sustain the pressure, probably because he came in too heavy. Joseph hurt Wardley in the 10th and tried to finish Fabio but Wardley just went for broke and backed up on Parker and hurt him at the end of the 10th round with vicious right hooks, cross and uppercuts.
Parker was out on his feet at the start of the 11th getting battered by Wardley as he hadn’t recovered from the earlier round.
Great fight you all must watch it.
I’ve given Wardley credit in the past , certainly as much as you did in the post above. (Usyk stops him and Huni put on a clinic against him) both of which I agree with btw.
1.I like Wardley as a guy and respect where he’s got too from where he started and with his very limited experience.
2. I keep saying he’s improving.
3. He’s with a really good trainer.
And I don’t like to keep going against Wardley , because I usually want him to win. But facts are facts.
For a fighter of his standard to be fighting for a (or maybe all) the World titles against arguably one of the best ever is wild!
That’s not so much a slight on him, more the poor calibre of HW’s out there.
I’m so pleased that Wardley is gonna get some massive life changing paydays .
And despite what I say about his ability, he fucking deserves it because his chin and his will and desire is incredible.
But this is boxing , an art, a sport, and you shouldn’t be able to get to the very top or near as like he and Joe Joyce for a spell before him by having the capacity to have you head punched to fuck until such time your opponent tires enough for you to bowl him over!
I believe we’ve seen what that has done to Joyce and it saddens me.
But I repeat , Wardley is improving. However, unless Usyk grows old or gets injured in the ring, all I can see is one of the most one sided points victories or late stoppages ever witnessed in a World title fight.
I hope I’m wrong.
Anyway this explanation has gone on way too long , so I’ll post my thoughts about Parker separately.
I take very little notice of press conferences or head to heads when I judge how a fight will go.
But I do believe weigh-ins can tell you a lot.
As soon as I saw Parker’s weight, it gave me serious doubts, and let’s be honest Everybody predicted a Parker win and understandably so.
Parker got it completely wrong. I’m gonna stop short of saying Parker took him lightly., but he came in heavy thinking he was gonna blast out Wardley. Maybe the manner of the wins agains Bakole,Zhang and Wilder gave him a false confidence in his level of power.
Apart from the Bakole fight , Parker’s career weight is 15-20lbs lower than this.
The Bakole weight can be discounted really because as soon as Dubois dropped out, he probably started eating cream cakes! Added to the fact that he probably targeted coming in heavier than Normal because of Dubois’s power.
Parker would’ve justified it to himself by saying he’s getting older yadda yadda. But totally the wrong call in my book. And bad preparation by his whole team.
i was just teasing. i was mainly mentioning justis to compare to how much joseph struggled. fabio is winning these fights so i can't argue with him getting a shot but i agree he should really have victories over another contender or two but this is modern boxing i guess, at least he beat an interim title holder, not like some who get a high ranking over doing nothing
i think i mentioned earlier in this thread that joe's run wasn't all it was being made out to be & i think you're right that it gave joseph & his fans a false confidence. i also questioned his weight during the fight & how he'd go in the later rounds. you're right wrong call & two rounds of in ring action since the zhilie fight can't have helped
here's the fight if anyone still needs it:

Well missed what sounds like what turned into a very solid fight, appreciate the fill in and rbr. Saw some highlights and looked like youth prevailed and Wardley did exactly what you want a greenish young fighter to do. Grab the chance for all it's worth vs a legit top guy, that's why they fight the fights. Talk about a rocket pack strapped to your back for Wardley. Goes from unranked to now the mandatory by the same org and calling for Usyk. Slowly but surely this current division is finally turning the page on the elders but still see Usyk remaining the exception and still holding the door. On a side not and again, these top division fights of their era would be so much more massive and rewarding long term with more eyes and growing fans. But this on an atrocious undercard and PPV is a massive shame. Dazn is sheltering boxing almost back into a shadow sport imo especially stateside. Back to back to back PPV on top of raising fees and remaining fans run straight to streams or sticks, can't blame them, it's a deteriorating spiral. Off his biggest win hope Wardley gets another top scalp in the UK rather than back to Saudi and he blows the roof off the place at home.
this fight was hidden behind essentially two pay walls, dazn subscription & then pay per view, this ain't how the sport grows
just to touch on something primo carnera brought up about joseph having a false confidence, i really think he started to believe that he had become a big puncher & you could see his aggressiveness increasing in the deontay & martin fights, when his best assets were always boxing smart like he did for most of the zhilie fight
Joseph Parker has evolved into a more aggressive boxer and he has bulked up accordingly. I do not think Parker would have beaten Wilder and Zhang on the back foot. He fought smart, timed the attacks and was successful with this adapted style.
Parker was hurt in the 2nd round and spat out his gumshield, he could have done the same in the 11th round, held Wardley or taken a knee to buy some time to recover. He is experienced enough to know better.
Joseph can still set up some big matches and is far from finished. He has a more pleasing entertaining style that many fans will watch. Parker would not be afraid to take on Moses or Agit.
deontay was shot to bits which is why joseph was aggressive in that fight, he used movement against zhilie & fought smart, the times he didn't he got dropped & of course he's going to be aggressive against a guy who hadn't trained & had just got off the plane. i believe joseph started to believe his own hype, even the way he was talking, about getting the knockout, he had the wrong mindset based on the false confidence those fights had given him in my opinion
Parker needed to back Wilder up and command his respect even if he was shot. Deontay was the firm favourite coming into that fight.
Parker was the better boxer against Wardley and was winning the contest. He just got caught and it can happen in the heavyweight division.
joseph didn't need to back deontay up to get his respect, deontay was barely throwing anything. deontay was the favourite going in but some were already questioning where he was at, he had only fought one round since being stopped twice & had been out of the ring for over a year
joseph was the better boxer at times & i had him winning, he got caught because he was trading too much when he should have been using his movement & boxing smart & his weight probably contributed to him being more stationary in the later rounds
i wouldn't mind seeing a rematch. i'm not so sure joseph would be the favourite
joseph is still a contender & there are good fights for him & he has shown a willingness to fight anyone, i'd like to see him in with justis
On the first been saying it for a while now. Also this on PPV was basically doing the sport overall sabotage. Certainly not welcoming or casually opening up to new fans.
Sound like a broken record but adding it up I have missed more boxing over the last 3,4 years than over the last 3 decades combined. And it's not an exaggeration ;D:-X. It's very bad stateside.
@Spicoli you need to get a firestick with the app. You get to see everything. I took it to Australia and watched Usyk v Dubois and Manny Pac challenge for the title and Tszyu get stopped in the morning. The younger adults watched and loved it all and that is how you win fans and get them interested.
I left the firestick there for them as that was my spare one. It only costs £50 for the year. Great value for money.
Parker will only be a favourite in a rematch and will only be relevant in the division if he comes into the fight in good shape.
You don’t start coming in 17lbs over your regular weight and believe you’re some sort of beast .
I can’t get over how either unprofessional or how bad a decision it was to come in the way he did against Wardley.
i think people are forgetting how mid joseph really is
"I can’t get over how either unprofessional or how bad a decision it was to come in the way he did against WardleY"
i think it was a bad decision. he has been working with a new nutritionist/ strength & conditioning coach george lockhart & seemed to be hitting the weights like a mad man in the time between the zhilie & martin fights. the problem was they never got the chance to test that weight over hard fight late rounds. if joe took that weight in against oleksandr i think he would have been toyed with & stopped late. he should be around two forty, definitely not over two fifty
you have top rank showing live cards on tubi
if you need live stream links or fight vids for something you missed just yell out
boxing hasn't been helping itself recently, i've found my interest waning over the last few months, there's a small glimmer as there are some good fights to end out the year (bam v puma tops my list) & already some good match ups in play for the early part of next year
Definitely going to look into it. We now live in an era where competitive cooking shows outnumber high level boxing in weekend primetime and well that's just depressing ;D:-X. A shame fans need to work around is all, rather than a straightforward reliable platform not trying to bleed fans via multiple money grabs on any given card. Especially after coming in proclaiming "PPV is dead". Thanks for the heads up.
Appreciate that bud. Yeh went to check out the Thursday card on Pluto but at the last minute they apparently had a problem and wasn't there. At this stage back with an HBO etc. a mega fight division unification like Bam v Puma would be standing alone and properly blowing up. It is a very solid card no doubt, going to have to bite the bullet on that one.
joseph likes the sniffy sniffy
Former world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker is facing a possible ban from boxing after testing positive for cocaine.
The 33-year-old New Zealander failed a drugs test on the day of his fight with Fabio Wardley on 26 October, according to the Sun., external
He was tested by the Voluntary Anti Doping Agency (Vada) on 25 October.
Sources have confirmed to BBC Sport Parker tested positive for the recreational drug and not performance enhancing drugs.
Parker could receive a two-year ban but could also be suspended for as little as three months depending on circumstances.
Any ban would be handed down by UK Anti-Doping (Ukad) and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC).
Ukad, however, did not administer this test and will need to conduct its own investigation.
Queensberry have been informed by Vada about the failed test.
The BBC has contacted Vada, Parker's promoters Queensberry and the BBBC for comment.
Boxer Liam Cameron was given a four-year ban in 2019 for testing positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolic acid of cocaine, but rules have changed since then with Rugby League player Adam Rusling getting a three-month ban in 2024 for testing positive for cocaine and MDMA.

makes sense now why joseph had the wrong mindset
i'm not surprised, the hoodrats always had rumours about his antics
Ol Parker just cannot help himself with the booger sugar. Can't imagine many violins playing for him as it's not the first time something crept up.
